Casual cos play.
Super hero t shirt, jeans and dms or whatever chunky boots you have.

80smonster · 23/02/2025 21:15

Make a large badge that says ‘NOT ALL SUPERHEROES WEAR CAPES’.

Jean Grey from X-Men? Seen occasionally wearing a doctor’s coat so you add a name badge on a lab coat with a red wig or a headscarf to give the idea?

Black Widow red wig / scarf again plus any black clothing you feel good in, DIY some black crayons into two chunky wrist bracelets (or spray some corrugated cardboard)!

PhilomenaPunk · 23/02/2025 21:44

Hit Girl from Kickass would be my suggestion: actual clothes, not ridiculously silly and just need a purple tartan skirt and a purple wig.

bridgetreilly · 23/02/2025 21:54

Not technically a superhero, but I would go as Rosie the Riveter.

BalloonSlayer · 23/02/2025 21:59

Google the fabulous Bella Emburg as Blunderwoman

Or, focusing on the breast aspect, what about adding an extra down the front of your dress and going as the "ooh, three tits!" alien from Paul?

Katrinawaves · 23/02/2025 22:08

How about Lara Croft? A vest top, some camo combats and a toy gun or cross bow strung across your chest

RockGirl · 23/02/2025 22:09

Wear a cross round your neck, and carry a wooden stake and some water in a bottle and you are...a vampire slayer.

mitogoshigg · 23/02/2025 22:18

I'd wear this with jeans

Nice, slightly retro dress, showy necklace - you’re Batman’s mum. If you want to go all out you can add a bullet wound but not really necessary.

Or search Vinted for a superhero (eg Wonder Woman) and your size. Odds are you’ll find a t-shirt for a few quid. Then pair it with a sparkly skirt/jeans/whatever suits your usual style.

Mielikki · 23/02/2025 22:28

Now I’ve got all cross all over again about Netflix cancelling Warrior Nun.

TitsInAbsentia · 23/02/2025 22:36

Just your average 'off duty superhero' t-shirt should do the job!

LemonTT · 23/02/2025 22:37

Tank girl is a good option to go a bit crazy on and means you don’t have to do a bodycon look. Googles, helmut or cap, punk era combat attire and ott make up.

friendlycat · 23/02/2025 22:49

If you don’t want to dress up (fair enough). Just wear whatever you want and make a socking great cardboard plaque with string to hang around your neck.

I quite like. “god”. “Superwoman”. Even. “I’m a superhero don’t ya know it”

Copperoliverbear · 23/02/2025 22:58

Would not go, say I was unwell.

Tigergirl80 · 23/02/2025 23:18

Nessa off Gavin and Stacy.

IHaveAlwaysLivedintheCastle · 23/02/2025 23:40

Something Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon? Add a couple of curved toy swords?

[Yes I know this costume is Japanese themed not Chinese]

Vaguely Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon

If it were me and I lived in London I'd be trawling round traditional Chinese clothing shops.

Edna mode from the incredibles . Wear all black with a cheap wig and glasses .

Having never seen The Incredibles, I didn't realise that FASHION has its very own superhero! How fabulous!

We have been to a lot of dress ups over the years. Needless to say, I have a dress up box.

The one item in there that gets used over and over is a cheap black polyester fabric cape.

The last time it was out was for Batgirl. Very easy, I just cut out the logo and pinned it onto a tshirt.

You don't need to go expensive, just use what you have. If you are handy with a sewing machine, a cape is easy enough to run up.

We also attend a dress up for Halloween every year, so the cape gets booked by a member of the household fairly promptly.

Ineedcoffee2021 · 24/02/2025 08:15

I would suddenly 'contract' something highly infectious

oh damn, cant go.....

SunshinePleaseReturn · 23/02/2025 18:10

A spider isn't really a superhero 🕷️

I beg to differ....we can make a room full of people disappear if we want, all we need to do is come out of our hidey hole. 🕷

TwoRobins · 24/02/2025 08:55

I immediately saw you as a glorious Wonder Woman!

Failing that - diarrhoea.

EarlierDistraction · 24/02/2025 09:25

I'd just get a costume off Vinted and go for it, I hate fancy dress too but feel like a party-pooper if I only make a token "I don't want to do this" effort.

AiryFairy1 · 24/02/2025 09:42

Wear a cape and and angry expression: ‘I’m Super Mad’ 😡 😅
