Continuation of the Angela from housing thread. For those who want to moan about the government and share thoughts and articles.

Apparently Trump has imposed tariffs on an Australian external territory inhabited only by penguins 😁😁

Can I please remind you of your post on the precursor to thisAngela thread...

"I need to stay off MN for a while, I'm too angry today! I've just infiltrated the Starmerista thread 🙈."

I have no idea why you would spend time on a thread that you clearly don't like or agree with.

According to a recent IPOS survey, confidence in Reeves is now so low that it tallies with that reserved for Kwarteng in the wake of Truss's disastrous mini budget.

Upstartled · 03/04/2025 11:50

At least the Conservatives realised that when you are dreadfully unpopular, you really should leave.

While it was the Truss budget that increased my mortgage by over £500 for literally nothing, I blame Reeves for it staying as high as it is. So that makes sense.

A well deserved slump in opinion.

Labour have launched their local election campaign, encouraging voters to "vote for change in your communities". The irony.

Can I suggest you pop over to the feminism sex and gender board and tell them that men really can be women. Then pop over to the weight loss injection threads and tell them to stop eating donuts. Or go on the labour supporters chat thread and tell them that Liz Truss wasn't that bad.

Yes, or go onto the Brexit threads and tell them Brexit was a really good idea. Go on, @GrizzlyHairBear , I dare you.

TheNuthatch · 03/04/2025 14:12

Ooh my first deletion! 😇

Except I believe Brexit was the worst idea ever. I would guess Brexit champion would fit your mindset a lot better than mine.

Not sure ‘change’ means what it did pre GE

Hard to fool people twice with that one

And no comment whatsoever on why you openly post about infiltrating Labour threads but try to throw others off this one because they may have different views. Hmmmm

twistyizzy · 03/04/2025 14:35

FYI government KC just stated in court that if a child doesn't have an EHCP then they don't have SEN! Any parent with a child with SEN but without an EHCP needs to be very afraid of this government.

Seemingly very low. I'm not surprised though as the Schools Bill seeks to limit parental appeal for EHCPs. All part of the plan

Will that be challenged in any way?

It’s not true at all

It's shocking. We were really lucky with our dd. She got her EHCP really quickly and easily. I did have to give up work and home school for a while though until we got things sorted. Other parents/dc aren't so lucky. There are thousands without EHCPs.

Pannick gets chance to reply today but at end of session and is asking for further submissions in writing as the government lawyers have dragged their feet this afternoon to prevent him having that final slot

Just reading other posts and have to let it out..

Labour have made people so freaking mean and spiteful. It’s horrendous.

I knew it’d be different to Blair’s Labour pre GE but just seeing how bloody nonsensical people are with economics and the way policies really ramp up spite is so bad.

It’s a beautiful day so a contrast to this post, but honestly, it’s too much.

Upstartled · 03/04/2025 15:53

Isn't it just? I love days like today when you can just sit out in the sun and it warms your bones. I'm like a cat, all I need is a sun beam and I'm perfectly content to sit in it and do nothing else.

The BoE inability to reduce the base rate because of the inflationary affect of Labour's policy of minimum wage increases and ni payments, is one of the biggest financial pressures on housing costs and that doesn't even muster a passing comment on the Awful April discourse and pressures on the domestic front.

Keep the faith 💐
I'm convinced many posters come on MN just to spit venom. Some are also struggling to admit that they have been lied to and gaslit. I rarely comment on other threads now, can't be arsed with it. Showing some empathy is not difficult, even if you're not personally affected by something.

This weather is too good to miss. I can't wait to finish work and get out for an evening walk. I'm also loving all my sprouting seedlings and blossom on the trees.

I’m struggling to see anything positive in the news lately.

It’s draining, isn’t it.

There seems to be a sense of incompetence, spite and hate wherever you look and it’s not surprising it’s spilling over on MN as well.

EasternStandard · 03/04/2025 20:59

Sorry I’m usually pretty positive and this is a good thread to hide from the rest of everything.

TheNuthatch · 03/04/2025 21:07

That was the entire point of starting this thread, away from the madness.
The education threads are brutal at the moment, no wonder you feel like you do. I don't know how twisty keeps going! Hats off to you both.
