@twistyizzy How are things progressing with the court case? I've got everything crossed x

Sorry I missed your post this afternoon. Busy day!
I was more than happy to see Sunak 'lose his shit' at that debate. Starmer was lying through his teeth on stage about not raising taxes ffs! Typical sneering, holier than though, my fathers a toolmaker blah blah fucking blah. Sunak was right, and now everyone can see just how much of a lying bastard Starmer actually is.

@EasternStandard Agree with the plughole analogy. In fact, I'd upgrade that to disappearing down a toilet! The front bench were sniggering and scoffing throughout pmqs today, while their leader belittled a woman. Cheering him on whilst he tried to excuse destroying the economy and plunging the most vulnerable into absolute poverty. Disgusting, the lot of them.
We now wait for the US to finish us off!

Oof, sorry bout that. It seems I needed another rant.

Totally. Bloody toolmaker bollocks.

Odious and repugnant. I can’t listen to them anymore. Have to limit.

twistyizzy · 02/04/2025 20:21

TheNuthatch · 02/04/2025 20:17

Of course he could. I think you and I could see it from space too.

Well to be fair it was a massive black hole........although significantly smaller than the super massive blackhole Labour have stuck us with
Although are massive black holes visible from space 🤔 are they even visible at all with them being black holes? 🤔
Maybe 1 for PMQs so that Harmer can ignore it

It's emotionally draining but thank you.

Honesty the stuff that the government KCs are coming out with is embarrassing for them. I've had more reasoned debates on here with trolls 😆. They could have saved the taxpayer £££ by just putting up a wanted ad in MN.
Roundly told by judge to stick to facts and not opinion.

I'm glad the judge is calling them out. It must be awful for the families being represented too. I hope they win, keep us posted ❤️

@TheNuthatchI watched one ages ago and stopped. He’s belittling and misogynistic.

Badenoch is pretty aggressive and belittling too. Just shows you see what you choose to see. I see them both as pretty dire.

Unfortunately we won't get the verdict for at least 4 weeks.

DH has banned me from pmqs for a while. I had to go into a meeting alongside him straight after I'd watched it. I was like a bear with a sore head 😬. Not good!

His father was a toolmaker. There is lots to criticise about him but I genuinely don't understand why people jump on that.

I have no idea. Obviously I hope + pray they do because the consequences are not good for the kids currently in independent schools/teachers/staff etc.
We are only on Day 2 too so more to come tomorrow.
Pannick is killing it on behalf of those families, picking out every key point, challenging blatant lies from government side, robustly challenging etc. BUT ultimately it comes down to the judges.

Barrister friends saying it is unlikely that they will win if you consider precedents of human rights breach cases etc.

@twistyizzy excuse the basic question as I’ve missed this but are you there or is it being streamed?

Or pm if you don’t want to put that online.

Being streamed and we have people in the courtroom

TheNuthatch · 02/04/2025 20:42

twistyizzy · 02/04/2025 20:37

This is a good example of how pernicious they are. They could have exempted kids with SEN but decided not to cos it would prevent them raising enough money:

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-14564465/amp/Labour-admit-considered-exempting-children-special-needs-VAT.html

That says it all really doesn't it. Labour in a nutshell.

Probably not but I've had 2 days of listening to all the stories about real life kids being impacted by this + all the government lies and pathetic attempts to justify this unjustifiable policy. I am wrung out and I don't think your comment was in a good spirit tbh.
There are serious consequences to this court case failing but yeh just chip in a random comment about a friend of a friend who has commented.

Presumably it's not in good spirit just because it is not what you want to hear. Sorry for the realism! Back to the echo chamber.

Where the hell did I ever say it was assumed we would win? I literally replied to your Q of "do you think you will win" with a very balanced reply and got back from you "well my friend of a friend thinks you won't so there" response

MN is a discussion forum where people give their views. It is allowed and shouldn't result in accusations of bad faith. FFS.
