BBC saying Starmer's claim that 24000 migrants returned is a lie.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/clyw8jw11jwo

Just got around to reading your link.

^And Border Security minister Dame Angela Eagle said on 31 March: "We have already deported – sent home – 19,000 people with no right to be here."
We asked the Home Office how the government can claim credit for individuals who leave of their own accord and without it being aware of their departure at the time.^

😬😁

I thought this was going to be about voluntary deportations - not people who got fucked off, left of their own accord and couldn't be arsed to leave a note 😁

Yep, 6150 big fat whopping lies.
Surely they knew they'd be found out! They don't help themselves.

Ha ha at them not leaving a note 🤣. I love how you explain things.

Ha same, this thread is helping when Labour are so bad.

Upstartled · 01/04/2025 21:00

Thanks.

Yeah, I agree, I've found this thread so useful. It's a small space away from the contortionist logic of the true believers and it's still, mostly, remarkably chipper.

Apparently London is under an amber alert for wildfires? Meanwhile, in the n.e...I still squelch as I walk across the back garden.

I'm surprised you've got a squelchy garden. It's been unusually mainly dry for weeks here (NW Eng). There was a fire on the moors nearby last week, but not sure how it started. Could have been twats taking their xl bully for a bbq.
Has it been wet where you are?

Upstartled · 01/04/2025 21:28

I don't think it has been too bad for a while but it was bad enough in mid march the the clay soil is still bleugh. Perhaps less of a squelch than a squish. I think

TheNuthatch · 01/04/2025 22:03

We've got clay soil too. I gave up and put fake grass down because the mud from dogs was unbearable. Best thing we ever did! I've got loads of plants for pollinators etc, but i love my fake grass.

Oh, that sounds good - I never thought of that. Although the list of house projects is as long as my arm, I'm not sure the garden will get a look in for some time.

Do we know when we'll find out about Trump's tariffs today? I'm beginning to think 'lost headroom' will be the defining words of 2025.

Yep

Reeves and Starmer keep wiping out headroom and then have to make cuts.

They then create a reason for those cuts which many repeat, including on here.

If they keep going there won’t be any groups left who won’t see cuts. Some will still be loyal but going by the dissatisfaction etc below they’ll be a shrinking group.

TheNuthatch · 02/04/2025 10:27

I've been reading the threads on education this past few days. I don't comment as I have no skin in the game, but its awful to read. How can anyone defend what this government are doing, particularly to dc with SEN? This has got to be one of the worst political decisions ever made.
There is so little coverage on msm. It's infuriating!

TheNuthatch · 02/04/2025 12:52

I just watched pmqs.

Is it just me, or does Keir Starmer come across as misogynistic when he's answering Kemi Badenoch?
His answers always seem incredibly belittling.
Starmer never answers Ed Davey this way, or Stephen Flynn.

@TheNuthatchI watched one ages ago and stopped. He’s belittling and misogynistic.

Parsley1234 · 02/04/2025 13:21

Who’s listening to Vine about the funding of nursery hours ? A case going to court if they win the top up from parents will be voluntary good luck with that then

EasternStandard · 02/04/2025 18:55

I missed all that @Parsley1234

I get the impression we’re going down a plug hole.

I’ve been thinking the general sneeriness of Labour is massively off putting. Starmer, Reeves, Rayner, Lammy never seem to speak without sneering or putting someone down. You see it on here too. No wonder disapproval is so high. Who wants that.

Parsley1234 · 02/04/2025 19:03

That was the same at the election @EasternStandard that awful Starmer verses sunak only time I saw Sunak lose his shit
odious people

GrizzlyHairBear · 02/04/2025 19:16

I am not a fan of any of them but I thought Sunak was really awful in the pre-election debates. Talking over everyone, aggressive and rude. Probably because he knew he was losing by then.

EasternStandard · 02/04/2025 19:46

He could probably see the halving of growth a mile off and the subsequent cuts and impact we’d have in no time

Someone muted video of BP talking about nurseries today and honestly you would think she was speaking about her worst enemy, not children. Try it with any video of Reeves, Raynor, Starmer et al speaking, it's scary!

Sorry I missed your post this afternoon. Busy day!
I was more than happy to see Sunak 'lose his shit' at that debate. Starmer was lying through his teeth on stage about not raising taxes ffs! Typical sneering, holier than though, my fathers a toolmaker blah blah fucking blah. Sunak was right, and now everyone can see just how much of a lying bastard Starmer actually is.

@EasternStandard Agree with the plughole analogy. In fact, I'd upgrade that to disappearing down a toilet! The front bench were sniggering and scoffing throughout pmqs today, while their leader belittled a woman. Cheering him on whilst he tried to excuse destroying the economy and plunging the most vulnerable into absolute poverty. Disgusting, the lot of them.
We now wait for the US to finish us off!

Oof, sorry bout that. It seems I needed another rant.
