Looks like we’re throwing billions away on the bloody Chagos deal now too

What a joke, well done Labour. Not!

Upstartled · 01/04/2025 13:30

Government approval rating published in the last hour by yougov, in the wake of Reeves - not a budget- have Labour's approval rating down to 14%. Disapproval, unsurprisingly, is up to 68%. These are practically the same figures that the Tory party bombed the election with almost obliterating them to an afterthought.

Has there been a development on Chagos?

Thanks for that. It's looks like Starmer had a short boost from his war mongering, and now fallen again after the mini budget.

Yeah, Trump has signed off the Chagos deal. Apparently this is what Keir wants to spend his political capital on, this bollocks.

Yes, that's how it charts.

Barbadossunset · 01/04/2025 13:59

I had to change radio as Starmer trying to say how better off we’d be with rising bills is too much and beyond mere swearing in response.

”the price we pay for cheaper prices are rising costs” or similar gibberish.

Concerning Labour get poll bounces from war, makes them ‘coalition’ happy for political career reasons. No thanks

It was a bright cold day in April and the clocks were striking thirteen.

Remember the leader's debate when Sunak warned of how much Labour would increase costs to every household? He was trashed for it and look where we are now.

Yep. And avoid Starmer’s voice pronouncing nonsense today if you can. Too annoying.

Parsley1234 · 01/04/2025 14:41

I miss Sunak 😢

Upstartled · 01/04/2025 14:42

But Labour were offering a CHANGE, they were the kind party, they were going to give us 6500 new expert teachers, the GB Energy company bringing our energy bills down by £300, they were going to bring economic security for the country by growing the economy - all while 'smashing the gangs'. Promises made, promises kept. 🤣🤣

twistyizzy · 01/04/2025 14:42

The fact they've hired the ex Comms Director of TikTok tells you how much they know they are in the shit.

The resolution foundation are predicting that the increase in NI and the increase in minimum wage will cause a loss of 80,000 jobs. All while we tell disabled people to get back into the jobs market with them.

I just don't think you can tiktok your way out of that.

The current debacle re two tier sentencing goes back to a report written by...David Lammy! You couldn't make this shit up!

Edited

Of course it was, right? Because there's nothing as stabilising as economic turmoil and increased resentment. Lammy, the man who never fails to make things worse. Moron.

Yes I was just reading that. The numbers are awful but not surprising. We have had to reduce headcount too. Yet labour plough on regardless.

ETA: Our business is in construction. I've just read in one of the construction papers that Canada are offering visas to trainee construction workers to finish their training there.
