Perhaps he it currently plugged in somewhere having his latest principles uploaded 😂

This made me laugh

Looks like we have our first visitor

I was going to add "the last fourteen years" to the bingo card, but I can see someone has already commented to point that out 😬

Can you ever, at any point in your career, imagine performing badly in your role and your defence being that the person before you was even worse?
"I'm not as bad as Maureen was" would not be seen as a credible explanation for poor performance in the workplace so I have no idea why it seems to be accepted and indeed flaunted, in politics.

Best ignored I think. They could at least lurk quietly!

Agree. They wouldn't survive in a normal workplace environment would they?

As for the bingo card, he has to say four.....teen.....years with a peg on his nose for it to count 🤣

This thread makes me laugh imagine being so crap at your job and your defence is not as bad as my predecessor 🤣mind you having had a brief stint in the civil service in Covid times I can confirm this is the state of play 🤣🤣🤣

TheNuthatch · 25/02/2025 12:04

Reynolds has now apologised for lying to Parliament.
That's alright then, you carry on Jonny, no harm done. You can do what you like because you're labour.

Looks like we are cutting foreign aid and putting it into defence spending. And now a 3% target (for next parliament) for defence. I'm good with all that. A bit of sense.

TheNuthatch · 25/02/2025 13:17

Defence spending up to 2.5% by 2027. We finally have a date! Paid for by reduction in international aid.

P.S The cat lady thread is that way 👉 don't forget your links on your way out.

Looks like Badenoch agrees on the approach. Been a while since everyone could just agree on something.

TheNuthatch · 25/02/2025 13:24

Reform not even in the house, cowards. They will be pleased with the drop in foreign aid though.

Im glad we've got a date for 2.5%, but I don't think they can wait until next parliament for 3%.

Oof! Ben Wallace is not happy. Not enough spending, inadequate leadership etc.

OP posts:
Upstartled · 25/02/2025 13:33

Yeah, I haven't seen anything but I can imagine, poor Ben Wallace must be tearing what remains of his hair out, he's been banging this drum for ages.

Oh really. He would have been good such a shame he opted out

TheNuthatch · 25/02/2025 13:36

I've got Sky news on in my office. BW messaged Beth Rigby with a rant about the announcement. He would have been great at Nato too!

I hadn't realised that the situation had been quite as dire as is laid out in this article. With so much of spending earmarked to maintain Trident.

Boohoo76 · 25/02/2025 13:46

Just found this thread. Finally, a thread with people who talk sense!

Bigham · 25/02/2025 13:52

I think it’s irrational to write off a government without giving it at least a year.
Take the piss all you want but Kemi is a laughing stock, no one takes her seriously and misses every wide open goal. Nigel is in thrall to x 2 foreign hostile governments.
What’s your answer, who’s the alternative seeing as the tories have sold out to Reform ?
Most people don’t treat politics like a football match before @EasternStandard breathlessly tells me I’m a labour supporter. I’m not really, I’ll back anyone who’s at least trying to change things for the good. If the Tories had delivered I’d support them, but they didn’t did they ?

EasternStandard · 25/02/2025 14:01

I have no idea who the pp is let alone how they vote.

There's a Labour thread over yonder I think...

Upstartled · 25/02/2025 14:05

Looks like we are going to see another increase in energy costs come spring. That's going to sting when the full cascade of Autumn budget shit comes online.
