UC health component, but yes it's a 50% cut.

Just to clarify, I'm not against reducing welfare. Its the way this has been done, and the people they are targeting that I take issue with.

Rachel's right hand, Darren Jones compares the disability benefit cuts to reducing pocket money. 🤬😱

TheNuthatch · 26/03/2025 20:25

Yes I saw that on BBC too.
My jaw was on the floor!

I also think we needed to wrangle the welfare bill into submission a bit but by fixing the NHS so that we had fewer people unnecessarily out of action and by building a dynamic economy so that there were jobs to move in to.

Not by building a narrative that the disabled are workshy and it would do them good to have less money so that they may be healed by their destitution. Bastards.

Parsley1234 · 26/03/2025 20:39

It is a mess when I worked at the DWP there is a massive scam of pushing claimants into provision which is just lining the pockets of whoever owns the provision. These are supposed to increase viability of employment in reality it kicks the can down the road out of most claimants per work coach only 5% are employable the majority are not and I’m afraid to say I can’t see how this will ever change definitely not by pushing austerity again. I’m old enough to remember the Blair year I was very supported as a single parent in my own business niw it wdnt happen

I agree with you 💯. You have articulated my thoughts perfectly.

@JenniferBooth wjiever was flavour of the month in Covid it was kickstart where businesses took on people with a £5k bung now it’ll be different incentives x

JenniferBooth · 26/03/2025 20:51

The NHS waiting lists need to be tackled first. So many hip and knee replacements on the list many of them caused by manual work in the first place.

TheNuthatch · 26/03/2025 21:19

Yes, and we also need a thriving economy where businesses like ours can actually afford to employ more people. Right now, we are reducing headcount/hours and this is happening across the economy.

Many also caused by obesity and life style choices
We do need businesses to employ people and right now we have a constricted state with no growth this idiot Reeves is just so incredibly ignorant she can’t see what’s reality

Well my friend knackered his knee carrying tyres around and then TVs (before flatscreens) in two manual jobs. Now the attitude seems to be off you fuck

Parsley1234 · 27/03/2025 07:28

Sky news totally out of her depth the twit ! There are no jobs as your stupid ideas have shrunk the economy you idiot !

Parsley1234 · 27/03/2025 07:32

Total lack of any accountability as always, and no recognition of the £14bn lost over just 5 months.
My dd was watching it. She asked who Reeves was and said she looks deranged!

Absolute liability. Both Reeves and Starmer.

Headlines are scathing this morning. Good.

TheNuthatch · 27/03/2025 09:12

It's very quiet on MN this morning. I wonder why?

‘Difficult decisions’ are all good until..

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 27/03/2025 10:50

They will be back with cries for tax.

Because high tax will fix the economy. Hmm
