I've never been able to look at Jacob Reese Mogg the same since a mnetter declared that he looks like the kind of man who spunks dust 🤣🤣🤮

Sorry to hear your son has been screwed over by the incoming NI rises Parsley.

Spunk dust 🤣🤣🤣

Most politicians give me the ick. Navalny was very attractive and charismatic.

Yes Navalny was a good looking fella.
I prefer them dark and slightly psychotic 😁

Well at least it’s not a crush on Reeves or Rayner 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Haha I laughed

There’s always threads on mn about rolled up shirt sleeves and now I get major cringe and ick at Starmer trying to look relatable or something doing the shirt.

I always laugh at the dress up versions. The combats and helmet 😂

One needs to given the actual shit show they are making, cuts to education are irritating me hugely

Yes, me too Eastern. The cuts to schools will be brutal. Presumably the manifesto pledge to recruit 6500 new teachers has been jettisoned along with these cuts. I knew Philipson had it in for academies and that was prominent in my mind when we were choosing a secondary for ds3, which he'll go to in September, but clearly that isn't going to be enough to swerve the Labour chopping block.

TheNuthatch · 25/03/2025 20:00

The Guardian have reported a poll by more in common. Most Britons would trust Jeremy Hunt or Mel Stride with the economy than Reeves.

Only 21% of Britons believe Labour’s claim it’s not returning to austerity, poll suggests – as it happened

Well, I'm with the 79%.

I'm sure they have a definition of austerity that has a lawyer-like loophole that affords them the technicality of operating outside of austerity but when you are chopping down government spending, benefits for the vulnerable and the national debt is outrunning the gdp, you have defence spending commitments that have rocketed in the last two months and Trump is rubbing his tariffy chin about our VAT system on imports then it all feels as equally doomy as Cameron and Osborne.

Edit: Oh yeah, and the obr has halved your growth forecast to a measley 1% and the BoE thinks things are so shit that they are increasingly arse clenchy about lowering the base rate.

So Rachel from accounts is stopping free school meals even though they are targeted for kids that really need them whilst giving 60p breakfasts to kids that don’t FML

The government will publish the impact assessment for the welfare cuts tomorrow. We will then find out where and on whom these cuts will fall.
They have waited almost a week to publish it. A good day to bury bad news for a Chancellor who wants to be absolved of any blame.

They are such bloody weasels these lot they are all cut from the same shonky cloth

PuttingouttheFirewithGasoline · 25/03/2025 21:37

So kier starmer or his wife is looking at mn and because mn said they found rolled up shirt sleeves and forearms attractive he is now doing that?

Are we to see clips of him reversing with his arm around the headrest next? Swiftly followed by him in work boots with a tool belt on 👢.

Labour pr machine, we conduct the next interview when we can break kier away from suddenly deciding to fix his shed "without being asked by his wife".

I really enjoyed the rees mogg program, a highlight for me was the child knocking over red wine all over his white linen suit and his wife said shall I get blah and he said "no, because that would be making a fuss".
I loved how he had to wait for her to find her bag before rushing out.
There were many surprisingly tender moments with his dc however I found the call with his dd reluctantly away at boarding school tough to watch.

TheNuthatch · 25/03/2025 21:39

I reckon Starmer will be photographed atop a tank within a week!

PuttingouttheFirewithGasoline · 25/03/2025 21:41

Its like when the previous Govenment announced tier 4 at Christmas 2020 because they didnt want to call it a lockdown

EasternStandard · 26/03/2025 14:38

I broke my own less exposure rule and listened to the Spring statement.

My god the lack of accountability is beyond. Reeves is the most irritating politician, ok Starmer is close. Blames everyone else, smug and incompetent.

Such a woeful combination.

TheNuthatch · 26/03/2025 15:17

I couldn't watch it either, but just seen the highlights. What a disaster they are. What's to say she won't lose the newly created headroom again in another 6 months? She just lost £14bn ffs and they are still sticking to the budget. The employer NICs hasn't even kicked it yet.

I don't know how anyone can support this government. According to today's report, 250K people, including 50K children will be pushed into poverty because of these cuts, all to try and save Starmer and Reeves' arse. They are disgusting.

OP posts:
Upstartled · 26/03/2025 16:16

I didn't watch it. I got as far as reading the Telegraph headline that Reeves will be forced into more tax rises in the Autumn and retreated back to MN.

TheNuthatch · 26/03/2025 20:09

Sorry, I've been a rubbish thread host today.

I have been unusually lost for words. They actually hit welfare again for another few billion today to make sure the headroom was exactly the same figure as it was at the budget.

There will be more cuts to come too. Schools definitely. Then in a few months Reeves will likely have run out of our money again and will have to raise more. Doom loop.
She then has the fecking nerve to tell us all that we will be £500 better off! These fuckers shouldn't be anywhere near government, excuse my French!

There will be months of speculation and apprehension about tax rises now until the budget, causing even more harm and uncertainty to businesses.
