Even worse, they aren't exempting the 110 000 kids with SEN in independent school from VAT so those are the ones being forced back into state mainstream. They are the most vulnerable to change and majority ended up in independent schools because of the SEN crisis in state eg 2 years + to get EHCPs.

I despise this incarnation of Labour and the wider electorate are slowly waking up to that. We are rural so also understand the Farming Tax policy which is equally as devastating for those impacted.

I may have remembered this wrong, but wasn't private schools vat an Angela Rayner policy? From back when she was shadow education sec under Corbyn. Maybe Phillipson is being used as a useful idiot.

Yeh the ‘green paper’ stuff is a nonsense. As if it’s something gently descending on the electorate rather than charging into everyone, due to wiping out £9bn funding.

I'm not surprised the Guardian are wild, Labour have been very, 'Hold my beer', with regard to austerity efficiencies since getting in to power.

It doesn't even make sense. The VAT charges on school fees were supposed to pay for breakfast clubs. But the alloted funding for breakfast clubs is so little that schools are saying that it is unworkable. It seems so badly thought through on both sides.

This is in context of cuts of 1.4B in education budget to fund public sector payrises.
Fundamentally, by forcing more SEN into mainstream means they can shut majority of the highly expensive specialist SEN schools. Chuck a small % uplift on SEN per pupil funding but ultimately leave it up to mainstream schools and make them accountable. You have to look at what they are NOT saying here! Many SEN charities are extremely worried about this.

I don't think it's misogynistic at all. Its nothing to do with their sex. If that's the labels they end up with, I'd say they'd got off lightly.

By all means criticise them at an intelligent level. I have lots of criticisms of them, However these nasty belittling labels with undertones of them bring little women getting above their station is just tawdry and smacks of trashy media brainwashing.
