By all means criticise them at an intelligent level. I have lots of criticisms of them, However these nasty belittling labels with undertones of them bring little women getting above their station is just tawdry and smacks of trashy media brainwashing.

But male politicians are equally as ridiculed and given names? Politicians of all colours, and both genders, are assigned nicknames in the press.

In trashy rags yes. The fact that all politicians are targets for pathetic nicknames doesn’t mean that these ones aren’t misogynistic. It’s the actual nicknames that are misogynistic not the existence of them.

EasternStandard · 18/03/2025 08:32

Pro Labour are generally fine with using names for politicians they don’t like, just look on here.

"In trashy rags" + mumsnet!!

Reeves led in the run up to the election on being the economist chancellor and inflated her c.v. such that it mis-sold her expertise. And then we had an autumn statement that made a bid for growth while hobbling business and demonstrated an ideological naivety that betrayed her inexperienced.

So now we have gdp growth of fuck all, £9bn of lost head room, an obligation to increase our defence spending into several bn and our disabled are about to pick up the bill.

To think that 'Rachel from accounts' is a slur drawing from misogyny, rather than from growing contempt at this shit show we have found ourselves in seems unnecessarily defensive.

Does that make it okay? Particularly the misogyny.

Which bit of, 'Rachel from accounts' is demonstrative of women hating behaviour? Were people calling her Rachel from accounts prior to knowledge that her c.v. was highly embellished?

What misogynistic about Rachel from accounts? It's her name and a profession which both men and women have.
I work in a very masculine environment so I know what misogyny looks like. This isn't it.

Is Two Tier Keir a misandrist moniker? BoJo the Clown? Two Jags Prescott? Jeremy Cunt? My personal favourite, The Haunted Pencil?

twistyizzy · 18/03/2025 09:07

How about Kemi Bad Enoch? That has been called out a few times on here....racist much?

EasternStandard · 18/03/2025 09:08

When pro Labour stop using names then they can ask for the same.

On another note the Telegraph is pushing Starmer’s welfare cuts. It won’t help. It’s clear they’ve wiped out funding and need to claw it back through cuts.

At least they finally announce today. So much briefing and pitch rolling.

Yep this.

Wiping out £9bn is incompetence and bad policy. From Reeves and Starmer.

Apparently Trump and Putin are going to talk on the phone for, 'as long as is necessary '.

It made me laugh. Say what you like about Trump but, fuck me, that man can talk like a Nanna on crack. I reckon as the third hour rolls into the forth, and Trump is locked in to an endless digression recursion loop, Putin will hand back the Crimea just to put the phone down.

It's a belittling little woman thing. I'm not saying you personally subscribe to that but it most definitely is a vibe.

It's tawdry like the others. It's usually when people either can't or can't be bothered to construct intelligent criticism. How is this racist though. It's pathetic but I can't see racist.

Upstartled · 18/03/2025 11:12

Well, I won't be lectured at for using Rachel from Accounts, when it clearly pertains to her fabricated c.v. I especially won't accept the accusation of misogyny. So, tough shit.

I don't need to be lovely. How sexist of you.

Yep I agree with most of what you've said. There's no need for the cheap 'Rach from accounts' or 'Brigit from the chazza" (OMFG to that one), much better to just articulate why they are rubbish.

Yeah, perhaps, but it's a hell of a mouthful. And not one that is required in an established, long running thread among familiar posters whose opinions are largely known to one another. I actually don't use, 'Rachel from accounts' but it's not a misogynistic name.

You have made your point and it has been noted. I started the thread, so I will police it. Let's move on.
