It's the hypocracy for me. Imagine if Johnson or Truss had axed NHSE out of the blue on a random Thursday! There would have been uproar. Starmer does it, and it's all hail our dear leader.

Great news on the economy again this morning. Well done Reeves. Maybe they'll go after public sector pensions next.

So true. Uproar and the usual.

That combination of Labour causing a shrinking economy and supporters’ enthusiasm for cuts.. well maybe public sector pensions up next which would be interesting.

Starmer loves a distracting headline and I’ll take the CS going over ‘boots on the ground’ nonsense.

Parsley1234 · 15/03/2025 08:55

I think this week is going to be a proper kerfuffle they’ve delayed pointing out what benefits will be cut to win over more back benchers it’s going to be a rocky one

TheNuthatch · 15/03/2025 16:06

I love the word kerfuffle! 😁 It's one of my faves!

There will be a lot of infighting that's for sure. Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake (Napoleon Bonaparte)

It’s a great word ! And that quote is great sentiment - watch those bloody idiots tie themselves in knots

EasternStandard · 15/03/2025 20:50

Yeh it looks like there’ll be a showdown whatever they do. Good, they deserve it for being so crap and wiping out funding. As predicted.

Btw we started Adolescence last night. It’s incredible, only just started so avoiding any threads with spoilers.

Intense and brilliant

TheNuthatch · 15/03/2025 21:05

I hope you enjoy the rest of it Eastern. I'm looking forward to it.
I'm gonna start Adolescence on Monday eve.
Mr Nuthatch is away again next week so it should get me through the sleepless nights! It's so bloody pathetic that I can't sleep when he's not here. He doesn't even know, I'm too proud to tell him 😂.

@Parsley1234 what a fucking mess and as someone who had a close relative who was vulnerable your treatment disgusts me

Yes we are really in Alice through the looking glass land arnt we or the upside down world of stranger things.

It feels like labour are trying to win tory voters
But I think they are too extreme for them!!

Parsley1234 · 15/03/2025 22:33

@PuttingouttheFirewithGasoline what treatment are you talking about ? Clearly you misread my observation
Adolescent just a pretty good observation of Incel bullshit

PuttingouttheFirewithGasoline · 16/03/2025 06:55

"a convicted sex offender working with vulnerable adults I went to senior manager and I was seen as the problem"

Parsley1234 · 16/03/2025 07:38

@PuttingouttheFirewithGasoline ahhh yes I see now. It was an absolute shit show what was even worse was that he had secured a teaching post in China I did call the teaching body he was sacked from not interested the old bill even less. So then I became super sleuth not all but some sex offenders well actually all but I’m trying to be pc are arrogant twats thinking all people are stupid so I got all the info of his flight departure date school offer province through being interested in him I then contacted the Chinese embassy who knows what happened if anything but I did try. The worst thing though was the nonse apologists who did a collection for him and arranged a leaving party and couldn’t understand why I was so incredulous at that. It wasn’t like it was a minor indiscretion he was bang to rights sending dick pics to his students and predatory behaviour

Upstartled · 17/03/2025 15:30

The green paper on welfare cuts is released tomorrow now and it looks like there's been a last minute reprieve for the pip uplift that had been looking precarious in an effort to keep the backbenchers in line.

TheNuthatch · 17/03/2025 17:37

Tomorrow will be interesting.
It looks like they have back peddled on PIP rising with inflation, but will cut the top rate of incapacity benefits from what I've heard today. It's quite shocking coming from a labour government.

I don’t think anything is shocking coming from this lot a more unethical trope I’ve never seen

They are managing the amazing feat of pissing the whole cross section of electorate: from farmers to parents to teachers to academics to pensioners to WASPI women to the disabled to feminists to benefit claimants. From WC to UC

In some ways you have to admire their ability to alienate the majority of the eiectorate in only 9 months! They've even pissed off some unions 😆😆

EasternStandard · 17/03/2025 18:15

They are going through the electorate like a dose of salts.

It was obvious the ‘difficult decisions’ that many were happy about on here would eventually filter through pretty to much everyone.

They really are a wrecking ball.

TheNuthatch · 17/03/2025 18:16

@twistyizzy
Love that, so true! 👏

Parsley1234 · 17/03/2025 18:24

@twistyizzy @TheNuthatch totally completely whose going to be next I can’t wait to see said nobody ever. Cannot wait to see Bridget Phillipson not attend the education debate this week perhaps she’s doing overtime to pay for the 4 KCs defending her vat bill or not

twistyizzy · 17/03/2025 18:29

4 x QCs were employed to defend Brexit in court. Are Labour admitting that this policy is as impactful as Brexit? To hire the same firepower as was employed for Brexit seems overkill for a policy which we get told over and over again, only impacts a tiny % of kids!!
Or could it be that they know they lied, mislead + failed to engage/carry out any meaningful analysis of the policy?
The Tweets re: hatred of private schools + kids are out there in public domain for the record since 2018 onwards. Could they need 4 x KCs to try to hide the ideology??!

Parsley1234 · 17/03/2025 18:31

Well who knows what these freaks are hiding I am interested to find out. Maybe they just like the number 4 🤣🤣🤣🤣

TheNuthatch · 17/03/2025 19:06

@Parsley1234 @twistyizzy
What's going on with Bridget Phillipson please? I'm behind with politics at the moment. Is the private schools vat going to court??

Yep. Labour have hired 4 x KCs to defend it. The case will be heard 1st-3rd April.
Judge ruler against Labour and combined all 4 claims into 1: single sex Ed, faith schools, SEN + the ISC challenge. So we now have breadth + depth.

"What's going on with Bridget Phillipson please" is a much bigger Q that only the unions/psychiatrists can answer. She has told parents they need to "re-think their approach to SEN" and is going to limit parental ability to appeal EHCPs etc. She wants 'inclusion' at all costs without funding it. So basically more SEN kids in mainstream, whether that is the right setting for them or not.

Parsley1234 · 17/03/2025 19:24

@twistyizzy god what a précis !!!! I heard mutterings about SEN provision but didn’t take much notice jeez she’s an absolute piece of work I despise that LEGO head as much as Reeves close runner Rayner Starmer lamy

twistyizzy · 17/03/2025 19:24

The Guardian is highly critical of Labour today on nearly all fronts: environment, economy and welfare. Even Labour supporters on here are earily quiet!

BP tops the list for me purely for VAT but very closely followed by RR, KS and WS.

Ok, thanks for filling me in. I really need to catch up on everything! The SEN stuff makes my blood boil.
I knew they'd be bad in government, but even I'm surprised at how bad they actually are.
