@TheNuthatch thank you for your concern it’s a time of upheaval I feel like I’m running to stand still all the time. Glad school fees are done the thought of being able to find £ for that is a joke

JenniferBooth · 12/03/2025 20:17

I was most worried when Starmer's poll bounce was in sync with war mongering / hawks on here even.

Lots of send others to fight stuff.

I feel like that's died down since Starmer isn't posturing as a 'bridge' or whatever, and I hope the other leaders have more sense over the Coalition of whatever.

I really hope we'll see some agreement as US travel to Russia now.

On another note I can't believe PMQs today and using family member to sell in welfare cuts. I mean I can given prior behaviour, but it's really craven politics. Not that I listen, just hearing about small parts is enough.

Havent seen PMQs today Is it similar to what David Cameron did with Ivan?

EasternStandard · 12/03/2025 20:21

@JenniferBooth I can't listen these days due to too much annoyance from the voice and no answers

And not sure about similarity but from headlines it was appealing to MPs by talking about his brother

Yep, I feel like I'm on a hamster wheel too 💐
Dh has had to take work hundreds of miles away to keep us afloat, so he's working away mon-fri. Thanks labour!

I wouldn't say it was like Cameron, no.
It was more along the lines of Starmer trying to pretend he's working class again. He was getting a bit of stick from one of his backbenchers.

I missed PMQ.

Too busy working my arse off.

Edit - sorry, didn’t mean to offend anyone. Just tired and pissed off with everything.

Edited

Sorry, I missed this earlier. No offence taken. I have a tv in my office so I can sometimes watch pmqs while I'm working.

It's bizarre to see cheerleading for Labour still go on when they are clearly slashing funding due to woeful anti growth policies.

Maybe when it gets to the public sector, probably not still for some. But no worries about farmers, pensioners, students or welfare.

As an aside I did not appreciate mcflabby on my app trying to sell me the above.

TheNuthatch · 13/03/2025 20:25

Who's McFlabby and what is he trying to sell to you 😂
Is it an advert? I don't have any adverts at the moment, just blank squares where they should be.

We have a labour government who have filmed migrants arrests and deportations, are about to slash welfare spending for the most vulnerable, have slashed foreign aid, and today they are shrinking the state putting thousands of NHSE staff out of their jobs.
They're more Tory than the Tories! 😂

My peri brain couldn't work it out! He is looking a bit podge isn't he lol.
I also see Putin is wearing camo on the news today. They must all have a full fancy dress box.

Tbf Putin looks like he'd be a scary prospect. That room he's in for the announcement. There and the Saudi one, full on.

Yes you're right. I was just reading through the NHSE thread. The usual names cheerleading 7000 job losses. Looks like the workers only found out when Starmer announced it too. I feel sorry for them.

I may be way off the mark here, and I have no knowledge or experience of the nhs, but could this be anything to do with the upcoming FTA with the USA? As a way of keeping the NHS off the negotiation table so to speak?
NHSE has always been described as a back door to privatisation of the nhs, and it has been mentioned as a reason in the other failed attempts at getting a trade deal.

Thanks for that, I've heard it's good. I'll give it a go when I've finished my current tv binge.
I'm just watching Toxic Town on NF. Its good, but sad. I can never sleep when dh works away. Sad but true.

@TheNuthatchyou may be right on NSHE. Funny to watch mn now go on about bloated CS and public sector, or now there’s appetite for cuts to welfare due to a couple of headlines from Starmer. Sets the scene for more cuts whoever it’s by.

Tricky re sleeping, sorry to hear is it for long?

On watching stuff were mid Severance which is good. Will check out that one @Parsley1234

Yes definitely the usual suspects supporting Labour on that thread. A lot of posters saying they wish they hadn't voted Labour.
Also some of the usual "tax the rich" instead.
After the vitriol against me on some of the VAT threads I am finding it increasingly hard to sympathise with any Labour voters who now find themselves under attack from Labour.

Parsley1234 · 14/03/2025 07:46

I don’t think anyone who has not experienced the CS first hand can truly understand how dreadfully bloated and wasteful it is. Also the practice of promoting upwards a terrible manager to get them out of a particular role. Luckily my manager was fabulous sadly she didn’t fit and was promoted sideways to leave the most toxic mess behind. Things that happened:
a convicted sex offender working with vulnerable adults I went to a senior manager to complain and was basically seen as the problem
tampax being put into mens loos when I said what nonsense I was given a disciplinary 🤣🤣🤣🤣
bogus companies set up to receive grants when reported nothing was done
£5k per person given to companies to provide what work coaches should be doing
self employed grants the main lead said no one had ever had a business work over the three years he’d been there
the real lack of care and joined up thinking a vulnerable learning difficulty woman 7 kids evicted from a £500 month council house due to financial mismanagement rehoused in a £1k bed and breakfast per week instead of direct payments to landlord
Homeless kids being housed in a hostel £800 a month which meant they cd never work
diversity question after every interview do you identify as black even if clearly they were not
🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️so many tales

Yeh I don’t blame you.

On CS etc I’ve only worked for the private sector. Still it’s amusing to see the about turn from many merely due to Starmer.

Latest ‘blow to Reeves’ headlines on shrinking the economy today so maybe he’ll do more cuts. Now he’s seen the enthusiasm.

TheNuthatch · 14/03/2025 12:58

It's the hypocracy for me. Imagine if Johnson or Truss had axed NHSE out of the blue on a random Thursday! There would have been uproar. Starmer does it, and it's all hail our dear leader.

Great news on the economy again this morning. Well done Reeves. Maybe they'll go after public sector pensions next.
