Being told I had a bloody good stomach by the registrar examining me before my 4 c section, she had assumed it was my first baby. Cheered me up as wasn’t feeling particularly good at the time😁

The most random compliment I've received was being told I had a text book cervix. I didn’t really know what to say to that one.

The young receptionist at the solicitors office I was using when selling my house. She told me that both her and a male employee who I'd been dealing with (and who had seemed really standoffish to me) couldn't believe how old I was when they'd read my date of birth on a form I'd filled in. Apparently, they both thought I was about their age, 32, when I was actually in my mid 40s. I didn't know whether to be flattered or to be annoyed that they were discussing such personal matters about clients and then openly reporting their opinions back to them. I did wonder whether they'd have told me if they'd decided the opposite, that I looked older than I actually was. I think I probably would have complained then ha ha.

My 5 year old regularly kisses me on the head and says I’m the best mummy or I love you.
My greatest joy and he’s so complimentary - always calls me beautiful mummy 🥰

Greebosmum · 03/02/2025 14:50

My Grandson introduced me to his friend. This is my Granny, she's a jolly sort of person.

SummerHouse · 03/02/2025 14:54

I was walking my son in his push chair and a lollipop lady stopped in her tracks and put her hand to her chest and said "By God! You've got a beauty there."

What a moment to have my secret suspicion validated by one other person who wasn't also his parent. 14 years on I remember it whenever I walk on that road and I am so proud that this random lollipop lady could see what I knew.

An ex colleague of mine was very upset at work, and my other colleagues were fussing and sympathising.
She told them all to leave, pointed to me and said "But not you, you stay, you're like a pot plant - just there, quiet, calm and not annoying"

ERthree · 03/02/2025 15:01

"You are the friend everyone needs in their life" That was lovely. My eldest Granddaughter who told me i was her favourite adult because i loved her the most and i am always on her side.

Absolutely love this!

Madamblueshoes · 03/02/2025 15:07

My resting face is smiley (with crow's feet now to prove it!) and I recall being told by a random stranger that my smile was lovely and where he came from they would say i am like sunshine. I thought that was lovely and it's stayed with me. Makes the wrinkles seem worth it!

ValentineValentineV · 03/02/2025 15:10

Both my best friends have said to me I am very non judgmental and they feel they talk to me about anything, was really touched.

Sittingonthefence83 · 03/02/2025 15:22

These are all so lovely, they're bringing little tears to my eyes ♥️

SallyWD · 03/02/2025 15:23

I don't really value compliments about my appearance because I feel often people are just being polite. The ones I remember are about my personality. They're more meaningful to me. I remember people saying I'm kind or nurturing. Recently my 12 year old son said that I should be proud of myself because I'm a really nice person. That one will stick with me!

Summervibes24 · 03/02/2025 15:34

I was in NYC at a restaurant and this stylish American girl leaned over to the table and told me she loved my clutch bag. I was super chuffed by this - it just elevated the compliment as it was from a New Yorker.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 03/02/2025 15:43

Dh, after a visit from a BiL who was going through a messy divorce (not his fault) and SiL was doing her best to make his life even more difficult.
‘Thank you for making a nice home,’ - and he didn’t mean the decor or immaculate housekeeping!

Bennyk · 03/02/2025 15:44

I have been complimented on my excellent command of the English language a few times by different people.
No idea why people think I am foreign because my family are about as white and British a it gets but it's always an unexpected compliment that makes me smile.

Bbq1 · 03/02/2025 15:46

My 19 year old son comparing a photo of me taken 20 years ago to a current one and commenting how I had hardly aged since.

Wendolino · 03/02/2025 15:49

Twice-
One time I was on a course and went into the toilets to find someone crying. She was also on the course and had messed something up for her group. I just had a little chat and said it must happen all the time. Later she came over to me and said she thought I was so kind. It was really touching.

Another time, my friend was asked what my best feature is and she said "sense of humour, and she is always nice to be with". Awwww

Dramalady52 · 03/02/2025 15:50

A manager once told me he liked my integrity! That's stuck with me for years, I was so flattered.

Hotafternoon · 03/02/2025 15:52

I was in the dentist's chair and the nurse suddenly said what lovely coloured eyes I had.

Although blue, they are grayish blue I would have preferred something lighter and much bluer, I never thought they were that lovely.

Still, I really appreciated the compliment. 😄

Thornybush · 03/02/2025 15:53

After my first dc the midwife came to check my stomach and said she could feel my strong tummy abs. Said I was recovering well. Unfortunately I didn't hear it again after having subsequent dcs
Lol.

I work in the office of a large building company. I am the only woman here surrounded by about 50 northern, working class builders! On one day in September, I decided to curl my hair! One of the builders came in, a 60 odd year old bloke, he never really had much to say and kept himself to himself - he cleared his throat and said 'your hair looks lovely lass' and walked away. He died the day after of a sudden heart attack but his little compliment warmed my heart and I think of that when I think of him!

boringingoring · 03/02/2025 16:00

A female friend of a friend who I didn't know well once stopped me in the pub and said 'you should always wear your hair short or up, the nape of your neck is beautiful'. I always remember that, especially as I watch the crow's feet spreading 😂

MayfairRose · 03/02/2025 16:06

I was told "I'm really glad you approached me and that we became friends because I need an assertive person like yourself in my life."

I was a bit surprised because I am nervous and shy as a lot of people are, but was/am trying to be more assertive.

So it was nice to hear it was well received

Shutupyoutart · 03/02/2025 16:14

I've had some lovely compliments from strangers, been told I have smiley eyes or a warm face but one of my favourites was when I was having a very hard day I was out with tiny dd1 and she was throwing an all mighty tantrum in the middle of the street with me trying to reason with her, already feeling overwhelmed and stressed, and this older lady just walked passed us grabbed my hand and said" she will get over it, you are a great mum. " it really lifted me that day and I've never forgotten it.
