Trump's Theory about the Plane Crash

Just watched his press conference in absolute disbelief. He's just blamed the air traffic controllers as apparently under the Biden administration they recruited people into the role who weren't intellectually capable. He actually blames diversity criteria and basically box ticking.... 'hiring people with severe intellectual and psychiatric disabilities' - that's a direct quote.

As someone with ASD, anxiety and depression who works in a high level, highly skilled role, I am angry on behalf of anyone like me.

The man is a dangerous liar.

You talked about Twitter.

I was referring to the thread on MN that came from that Twitter thread and speculated about the identity of the pilot.

The post I quoted talked about people being thrilled if a minority person was to blame.

Clearly you and I both know the thread we are talking about. And the minority group.

And yet you can't think of a reason why it was started ? (Clue - people being thrilled if a minority person was to blame)

See I don't care about that. You are trying to make the point that someone was thrilled. I am trying to make the point that we shouldn't be speculating when a named person has already been put into the spotlight for no good reason and had to produce a proof of life video to calm people the fuck down.

We shouldn't be speculating.

But people were. Because they thought it could have been a member of a minority group.Without facts. And a thread got started.

And the post I was referring to made the point that some people would be thrilled if a member of a minority group was to blame.

cakeorwine · 31/01/2025 17:41

And you don't care that a thread was started about the possible identity of the person without any facts because of the group that person may have belonged to?

Or am I misreading that?

I don't care enough to keep going on about it. If you have an issue with whoever posted it, take it up with mumsnet. It's gone now, quite rightly. I saw it briefly and it was gone seconds later.

I care more that the actual person had to do a 'proof of life' video to dispel rumours on twitter that are still live and floating about.

Do you not see which could be more damaging to them?

Why do you ask that question?

Clearly it's awful that people were speculating about the identity of the person and they had to do a proof of life video.

It proves the person's point that there are going to be people who would be thrilled if a member of a minority group was seen to be at fault.

cakeorwine · 31/01/2025 17:58

Maybe you don't get the point that there will be people who will be thrilled if a member of a minority group was seen to be at fault?

And it's clear that some people were very keen and potentially so thrilled that they started a Twitter thread which led to speculation and that the person involved had to post a proof of life video.

Which is an awful thing to have to do - but they only had to do it because there were some people who decided that this person, a member of a minority group, was involved.

It wasn't just the implication that the person responsible was from a minority group. It was that the pilot deliberately aimed the helicopter at the plane in revenge for policy changes made by Trump.

In terms of importance then yes the creation of a thread on mumsnet pales into insignificance compated to a viral twitter thread naming that person, sorry but it just does.

You are so missing the point.

It's not about a MN thread.

It's about people being thrilled that a member of minority group was to blame.

The twitter speculation is also an example of that.

So, based on what's happened and happening, who here would be comfortable with their DC flying into the US at the moment. Who has faith that despite the President of the United States plainly telling the investigators what they need to find rather than letting them do their jobs, air travel in the US is safe ?

Or next month ?

Or in June ?

I will not be travelling to USA while there is a maga led, project 2025 government in place. No woman would be safe in any capacity.

Bouledeneige · 31/01/2025 18:29

Of course I'd be happy to fly to the USA. It was one accident caused most likely by pilot error.

Bouledeneige · 31/01/2025 18:31

If you believed Trump and Elon Musk who here would be happy to live in the UK? They say it's over run by knife crime and will be run by Sharia Muslims within a generation (Muslims make up 6 percent of our population currently),

Turkeyneck101 · 31/01/2025 18:37

I suspect the bigger problem is that the white maga men and women don't like having any position taken by anyone but their white selves. Just as white people can do a terrible job so can any alternative person of colour or culture. Its easy to blame dei. I've worked with lots of non dei people who are as white as the driven snow and they have gone through all the appropriate job application checks and been absolutely terrible at their jobs.

What makes this whole duscussion even more farcical is that we have RFK, Hegseth, Gabbard, et al as the white picks and let's not forget the current incumbent himself.

petermaddog · 31/01/2025 18:42

only half voted for him the rest of us want to run away

XelaM · 31/01/2025 18:55

Ahhh 😰 so many young figure skaters returning from camp after Nationals. I'm a skating fan and it's such a small world where everyone knows everyone. The skating community is totally devastated. It's like the air disaster of '61 that killed the whole US team all over again.

I'll rephrase that.

What point do you think I was trying to make with my comment about the MN thread when you replied that :

"The speculation was from twitter and the person being speculated about has produced a 'proof of life' video today"

When you claim it's not racism because I get had Obama you sound ignorant.

Having one black President doesn't mean racism was eradicated.

Do you remember the racists during that election? Even McCain was standing up for Obama again dy his own supporters who were attacking Obama for being a " Muslim terrorist".

Racism in the world will never be totally eradicated. But having one black president does indicate that enough people in America were more than happy to vote Barack in, and means that things have progressed massively to what they were even just 50 years ago.

Do you always write two responses to each post you are attempting to respond to? It really is quite tedious.

It might be worth thinking them through before you post and being clear before pressing 'post'.

One that was done hours ago that for some reason you think nobody is getting.

NameChangedForThis1985 · 31/01/2025 20:40

@Turkeyneck101 Completely agree... I was thinking of booking a solo holiday to the US next year, absolutely no chance now! Off to Bali instead where I'm sure I'll have a much better time (not to mention I'll be off grid and away from any TV news)

Just you, I think

The point is that someone said that people would be thrilled if a member of a minority person was involved.

I then mentioned the example of a thread where it was suggested a member of a minority group was involved - which perfectly proves the point that some people would be thrilled if a member of a minority was involved.

Maybe you don't see how that thread is an example of how people would be thrilled if a member of a minority group was involved.

But I do think it proves the point that the person made exactly.

That's the 14th repetition of the point that I said I understood way back in the day when you first started this. Are you planning on doing this all night?
