That’s fascinating. How can’t you? I mean, I assume you have the same bodily chemistry as belchers, but something inhibits it somewhere? Not that I’ve ever thought about what exactly causes a belch…

It is a disability, I tell you, and not one you get sympathy for.

You can get your oesophagus botoxed (seriously) but that is temporary.

I can't belch Sad

I would go private and pay good money for Belch Enablement surgery, I can tell you.

Don't know how old you are but I used to be like this. Since reaching my 50s it doesn't appear to be a problem anymore Blush

coldscottishmum · 23/01/2025 12:34

I can’t swim.

I can’t use a tin opener, almost always result in injury or cursing out my whole house + my cat 🤣 a very basic skill I have never mastered!

MoonWoman69 · 23/01/2025 12:35

Can't walk downstairs anywhere but at home, without watching every step and thinking I'm going to fall! Have had three horrific falls down full flights of stairs in my life and I still can't get the thought out of my head that I'll be ok if I don't look down! I also don't know why I'm ok at home, two of my falls have been at home! I don't even have to look coming down the stairs at home, only when I'm out and a lot of the time in familiar places!

Awesome, I just turned 50 and I would be delighted if the general sagging had this benefit 🤞

LaPalmaLlama · 23/01/2025 12:36

Re belching, I can do it involuntarily but I can’t make myself do it by swallowing air like most people.

Really random one: I cannot “read” the buttons in lifts with the arrows that are “close door” and “open door”. I don’t know why but my brain just can’t process them. As a result when I try to be helpful and hold the door for someone, it’s 50/50 whether it works or whether I slam them in the door and look like a right arsehole.

Same. I put it down to my rubbish sinuses. I just have no puff.

Also can't click my fingers.

I know a kid who can belch the entire alphabet song with no apparent effort.

I can't drive on motorways. Even the thought of it panics me so badly I feel I can't breathe.....I'm a scared passenger too, but just motorways. I can happily tootle around towns and country roads though....I've avoided the M6 for 42 years.

the80sweregreat · 23/01/2025 12:40

Loads of things !
Drawing / art
Knitting / crochet etc
Can't sing a note
Play an instrument
Style my hair like my hair dresser can!

Titasaducksarse · 23/01/2025 12:42

Fold things in half so the edges meet. Don't ask why, always come out slightly or greatly on the piss

Bideshi · 23/01/2025 12:42

Parallel park (the shame.) Tell left from right.
Remember the word 'vernacular' - OH an architect so this word crops up a lot.

Same for me! Blowing up a balloon doesn't hurt my ears, but I simply can't do it. No problems with my lungs... I used to do marathons and half marathons...

Click my fingers
Whistle
Suck liquid through a straw.
Blow up balloons

Sparxdislike · 23/01/2025 12:43

Whistle 🤪

Berlinlover · 23/01/2025 12:43

Drive.

VioletCharlotte · 23/01/2025 12:44

Sit cross legged
Swim front crawl
Apply eyeliner with a flick

Eyesopenwideawake · 23/01/2025 12:44

Knit. Or sew. Not that I've ever wanted to - wonderweb is fine, or staples at a push.

FictionalCharacter · 23/01/2025 12:46

Click my fingers
Shuffle cards
Tie a knot in a balloon

AllrightNowBaby · 23/01/2025 12:49

I can’t change those flat recessed ceiling lights which I have 10 of in my kitchen.
I wait until there are at least 3 gone then ask my Son in law…
Pretty competent in most other things…
Oh! I’ve never changed a car wheel and doubt I ever will, I pay break down services just in case I get a flat and have a fear of my car breaking down on a roundabout.

Auburngal · 23/01/2025 12:50

Blow up balloons and tie them up. On job hunting previously I was invited to a recruitment afternoon at another supermarket chain to the one I ended up working for 17 years. One of the tasks where we put into groups of 3 and had to blow up as many balloons in 2 minutes. The other two couldn't that either. Didn't see these two in the store. So did we all didn't get jobs due to our inability to blow up balloons.

I can't swim, ride a bike due to dyspraxia.

I need handrail or wall to hold onto when going downstairs, due to a vision condition.

Whistling with fingers in mouth, nope.

Ohmych · 23/01/2025 12:51

I can't throw or catch very well. I can't whistle either

Cattery · 23/01/2025 12:51

Blow my nose like other people can. I just can’t stand it.

ellebelli · 23/01/2025 12:52

Plenty already said on here actually.
The thing however that annoys me the most is this,I cannot brush my teeth without ut dripping down my chin and all over the toothbrush.
I see other people (and especially in films) walking about and not a bit of toothpaste spilled.
I look like I'm foaming at the mouth
