The clock is already ticking and he's an old man. Mid-terms: November 3, 2026

But wait, in Trump's first term, wasn't Douglass an 'example of somebody who’s done an amazing job and is being recognised more and more, I notice.'??

What happened?

Why. If I didn't know better I would say that Donald Trump was the sort of person who would say any old bollocks as long as it served the noble cause of Donald Trump.

That's quite the shocking assertion there, @SerendipityJane. I think we must be talking about different Donald Trumps?

Talkinpeace · 15/02/2025 16:05

The Donald wants to stay out of prison and have people point cameras at him.
All else is irrelevant to him.

It's just a theory I'm working on.

Lots of chat over the last few days, so I’ve only just caught up!

In an effort to lighten the mood, I wonder if anyone fancies naming a racehorse?! I’ve been sorting out racehorse registrations (the day job) and this week have come across one that seems ripe for a cracking, and politically current, name. His father is called “Constitution” and his mother “Temper’s Rising”.

Rules are:

  • Names can have a maximum of 18 characters including spaces and punctuation.
  • A racehorse’s name must not include the name of a real person or someone who has been dead for less than 50 years unless their written permission or the permission of their family is provided.
  • Names must not have any obvious commercial significance.
  • A name must not include suggestive, vulgar or obscene words.
  • Meanings shouldn’t be in poor taste and can’t be offensive to any religious, ethnic or political groups.

I thought I was being clever in suggesting “Aaron Burr” - granted not current but fits the theme of his parentage.

Any other suggestions?

FYI, “Scrotus” and “The Orange Toddler” are available, as is “President Musk”. Sadly “Donald Trump” is already reserved 😜

All else is irrelevant to him.

And make a boatload of cash.

With a side order of pay back to anyone who he thinks has wronged him , with particular reference to people colour,
women and the poor.

Anyone disabled disgusts Trump so they are in the firing line of the orange fascist in chief.

Anyone who can’t pay their own medical bills is a loser so screw them. And Musk funded it all, probably stole the election for him and hates trans people. So fuck them too

The USA is FUBAR

Like here then north Wales raises the most in taxes with business, hospitality, stamp duty Etc yet receives the lowest in council tax relief . We're being milked to prop up labour strongholds. Nothing new.

What's the CTax looking like this yr? Just that I have family living both sides of the border (literally within a mile) and the English seems to be more expensive at the mo.
I still don't understand how an LA can set their budget a couple of months before implementing it.🙄

Council tax has always been set by 28th February.
The process starts in September
with the final decision taken as late as possible to ensure up to date information.

Welsh and English councils that set low Council Tax are idiots
as Adult Social care (poor elderly and disabled people) account for over 50% of all expenditure now
so low Council Tax means cuts everywhere else

Pickles forced 1.99% but increased the NMW by 4% a year gross
Now councils can do 4.99% but the NMW has risen 15% in the last three years
AND the supply of seasonal workers was cut off in 2019

I know. DH and I are both ex LA.

We had a 3yr rolling budget for our (profitable and very well plundered) depts which had to run "as a business". Every £1 under budget, you gave back £2 the next yr.

Our CT going up c10% thanks to incompetent cllrs wasting a small...no, actually fairly big, fortune on HS2.

I'd like to find out!

So would I! I can't believe it hasn't happened yet, that is a little disturbing to me. Where is the latter-day Winston Churchill, I ask myself?
