What is the most miserable biscuit in existence?

DH and I are not eating sweet stuff for January and today he commented that he was so fed up with it he would even want to eat a really crap biscuit, so we were debating what that would be.

He reckoned the worst biscuit would be a Nice biscuit, but I think I would much rather eat one of those than a Garibaldi.

Is there a biscuit even more disappointing, that you would be less likely to accept an offer of than a Garibaldi biscuit?

I don't like garibaldi's either. Jaffa Cakes have no place in a biscuit tin. I actually really dislike Oreo's. My kids love them and think they're grim.

Did you see the video where someone took a blowtorch to an Oreo and the wood that the Oreo was fixed to set on fire but the Oreo looked immaculate? Bit worried about what they are made of after seeing that!

I reckon I'm going to be in the minority here, but a hobnob.

Apparently Nice biscuits can be plain or coconut and as a PP said they are pronounced Neece like the city not Nyce as in pleasant: Nice biscuit - Wikipedia

Can I add figrolls to the list, mainly as they generally have minced up wasps in them 🤢

Er, what?

Macaroons

Both macaroons and macarons are vastly overrated.

AHFBridport · 18/01/2025 13:15

Lincolns or Lemon Puffs, awful.

mitogoshigg · 18/01/2025 13:15

Rich tea, pointless but dd loves them

AgnesX · 18/01/2025 13:15

Those awful dry danish cookies. Just bleh, followed by a chocolate bourbon.

Leave.

Surely I'm the one you want in the room? You get to eat my hobnobs, and I'll eat your rich teas? We should be best buddies 😁

mummyof2boys30 · 18/01/2025 13:16

Bourbon are the worst.

Rich tea and butter or digestive and butter where a staple here growing up. We nanny used to go all out and add ham for us 🙈 and that was lunch. Or at Christmas if being 'fancy' it was rich tea, pineapple ring and squirty cream.
I dont think my kids have ever had them.

WonderingWanda · 18/01/2025 13:17

@noblegiraffe oh crikey, no I didn't but they don't taste like real food. I want them to be rich chocolate and creamy vanilla and they just taste fake.

CloseYourRingStress · 18/01/2025 13:17

I wouldn't find any biscuit 'miserable' 😂...... in an emergency situation of course.

I don't have a hugely sweet tooth so malted milk, rich tea and garibaldi are my absolute favourites.

DistractMe · 18/01/2025 13:17

Another vote for fig rolls. Closely followed by rich tea.

I'm quite partial to a garibaldi, malted milk or a pink wafer.

Who is the heretic who doesn't like viennese whirls?

Mrsgreen100 · 18/01/2025 13:17

Jaffa cakes !!! Not quite a biscuit but disgusting things

UpUpUpU · 18/01/2025 13:17

I am Coeliac so literally any gluten free biscuit is disappointing 😂😂

Gingernaut · 18/01/2025 13:17

Another vote for pink wafers. 🤢

Alwayshockey · 18/01/2025 13:18

Rich tea. Closely followed by lemon puffs and pink wafers.

icebearforpresident · 18/01/2025 13:18

You know when you are at a meeting and there’s a plate of biscuits on the table for everyone. So you make your coffee and grab a biscuit that looks vaguely like a shortbread round. Then you take a seat and bite into your biscuit and it’s like crumbly cardboard that tastes of nothing.

That. That is the worst biscuit. Cheap, (probably a council) meeting biscuits.

Tarkan · 18/01/2025 13:18

My favourite biscuits are most of the ones mentioned. 🤣 Custard creams, nice biscuits, malted milk, pink wafers, lemon puffs, time out, blue riband, digestives (especially with butter on), rich tea dunked in a hot cup of tea, send them all my way. 😁

Fig rolls I'm hit and miss with. I go through phases of liking them then have so many I'm done with them for a couple of years before I get another craving.

I agree with Oreos and bourbons though. And anything with too much chocolate on them like Club biscuits nowadays. I also hate Penguins, they're just glorified coated bourbons really.

BrightOrangeDahlias · 18/01/2025 13:18

Rich teas. They suck the wet out of your mouth.

Boffle · 18/01/2025 13:18

Rich Tea. So bland they were on the list of bland foods allowed before a colonoscopy.

Waitingfordoggo · 18/01/2025 13:19

I love Malted Milk and Garibaldi, and Pink Wafers are amazing! Rich Tea are great if you have a cuppa to dunk them in. Bit disappointing without.

I'm nominating Hob Nobs. They're just blah.

SoMauveMonty · 18/01/2025 13:19

I loathe Oreos, so hellishly sweet, but love a Rich Tea or an Abernethy. I didn't realise so many people hate them 😄 They dunk well, which is a plus.
