For the better, obviously.

Can be a thing, person, activity, place...anything really.

Mine is trig bagging. It's so much fun and gets you out there, to unexpected and unknown places.

What's yours?

A tabletop dishwasher - I'm disabled and struggle to stand, so used to have to wash pots in small bursts when I was able, but have a tiny kitchen, so no room for a normal one. This has absolutely been a life changer.

I keep looking at these. I live with DD27 - she is disabled and I work long hrs but we have a small house. I may give one a go!

"You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you CAN fool SUFFICENT people all of the time!"

(My bigly letters there.)

Electric hot water bottle. From Amazon

It was a tip on here. I was skeptical but literally life changing in the way that my heated throw was life changing 5 years ago.

They warm up quickly, have a lovey long lasting heat, no worries about them bursting.

Perfect at bedtime. Literally will always own them - that good!

Are you able to link or. Screen shot a Photo please

Mine is only a teeny tiny one… DP bought me some lovely new knives for Christmas, as I’d been moaning on for ages about my shabby old ones.

There was a veg peeler in the box - I’ve never even held one before (I’m the wrong side of 59 🫢 ). I’ve always used veg knives.

So I picked this peeler up and had a go…. Wow! What a discovery😁 My fridge is now full of boxes of peeled veg! The Ddog was treated to carroty ribbons in her dinner! Fabulous thing!

How did I get to my age and not know??

Pilates. I started doing an online class about six weeks ago and my niggly lower back/hip pain has all but gone. I have no idea why I put it off for so long! I think because I work a late shift so can't do classes in real life I just prevaricated, until I saw the NHS ones on YouTube and thought 'I'll have a go at that'. Brilliant. I no longer wake in the night with a nagging sciatic pain.

The Snooze button in Gmail. I can make emails magically disappear and come back at a time of my choosing when I'm ready to deal with them.

A pull out pan drawer.
No longer do I have to lie flat on the floor with a torch in search of a pot or pan.
My life is complete.

God I miss mine in my old house :(

DogPot · 10/01/2025 19:10

Can I also add a heated throw, please?

Dont need the heating on, just snuggle away under this bundle of bliss!

horsesandponiesandfoalsOhMy · 10/01/2025 19:11

Dyson v15 - in particular the optic head that shows up every particle of dust and crumbs in a green light.

Living and working on a farm, I could never get the hard floors to feel "clean" underfoot. Today I'm walking around barefoot and loving life

Also dip nails - so much cheaper and quicker than going to the salon but last ages even in an outdoor physical job. Given I'm 90% covered in mud a lot of the time, pretty nails are such a joy

Trig points are concrete pillars found all over the country (and world) erected in order to accurately measure and map the landscape by the ordinance survey. They are usually located at high points (but not necessarily the highest) and the idea of 'bagging' them is the very anoraky and fun hobby that I now love. I have the book for my county and plan to tick them all off my list.

Presumably you get a lovely and/or interesting view at each point too?

I have a washable silicone slow cooker liner - yes you have to wash it, but it's easier to carry about than the heavy pot. In fact I have three - one is for the whole pot and the other is divided into two so you can cook two different things, They are reusable so less plastic waste. I put the lid in the dishwasher and drape the liner over it and it seems to wash fine. (Sorry about the long link.)

Do the tabletop dishwashers need to be plumbed in like the ordinary ones?

I had to buy a new slow cooker and was astounded to find that the pot is in fact non stick lightweight metal. Game changer!

Audio books, love them whilst I'm doing the housework or exercising.

Oh me too! And driving lol!

BlossomToLeaves · 10/01/2025 19:17

An individual sized silicon microwave popcorn popper. It works so well and seems (so far) to always pop almost every kernel and doesn't burn them, just the right amount for one person, done in 90 sec. I put 20g of corn, a tiny bit of coconut oil, and some special very very fine popcorn salt, and it tastes much like movie popcorn.

Mine are very lame:

A window vac for condensation.

A setting on the washing machine that gives an extra spin without an extra rinse. Learnt on here very recently Smile

Ooh! I wonder if I can find the extra spin setting. Does it save loads of drying time

Couch to 5k. Now I am totally hooked on running, it's such a diverse sport, I love it.

Flow Headset. For depression, it has worked magic for me. I was at the stage of feeling as though my whole life was swimming through cold sludge, although I counted my blessings and kept telling myself how lucky I was, I was just totally and utterly miserable. Had been through several antidepressants.

Since using it I've been happy, interested, content and looking forward, all things I haven't been able to do for years although I've gone through the motions of socialising and doing things with friends and family.

Flow Headset is being used by some NHS areas, it has amazing results for a high proportion of people. Since I started using it I have felt like me again. I have felt happy, I have looked forward to things in a way I thought I never could again.

I wish my DD27 would try this. I sent her a link but she just shrugged. She has many health conditions all of which are exacerbated by her depression.

So glad it's working for you 😊

TigerRag · 10/01/2025 19:22

I have no idea what it's called - you put it under your microwave, it slides out and gives you a shelf to put the plate you've taken out of the microwave. Also have the same thing for my table top oven

I'm with you on Pilates, it's life changing 💪 Unfortunately I've not been able to practise due to health issues but planning a comeback in the spring 😊

Put a hot water bottle on your dashboard 5 mins before you need to leave and your windscreen defrosts. No more running the engine or scraping in the cold.

Had it last year but my heated throw. I feel the cold badly and this has literally changed my life as now I'm comfy.

I have now had all of them for years but feel the same way about my heated throw, heated blanket on bed, and heated airer for laundry. All game changers in my very cold flat!

That is just the kind of anoraky hobby I enjoy and it looks like an excellent excuse to discover new bits of countryside. Thanks for the tip!

Robo vac/ mop. The floors (especially the black tiled kitchen floor) look so much better with very little effort.

Me too - my robo vacuum / mop has changed how much my house used to annoy me in winter!

I have a weekly cleaner, but I also have a dog and muddy children. Despite a weekly deep clean, every day the downstairs hallway is muddy. But now, every day my robovac/mop cleans it all up!
