For the better, obviously.

Can be a thing, person, activity, place...anything really.

Mine is trig bagging. It's so much fun and gets you out there, to unexpected and unknown places.

What's yours?

doesn't make sense to some of my friends but moved into a new house a few months ago. paid extra to have the counter in kitchen a little bit higher than standard. an absolute game changer for me. I am not tall but always felt I was bending down when washing up or prepping food or cleaning. same with oven it's now waist height. similar in bathrooms all sinks a little higher and bath is also built in higher. no more so much bending down. such a little difference has made a huge difference to my life and back

That after being retired for 8 years I don’t have to get up early.
I always felt so guilty but now 10 am is the new 7 am.

I hear you! I'm now officially retired at 54 and regularly snooze in bed until 9.30am (bliss) especially if I've stayed up late reading into the small hours (more bliss).

After years and years of 6.30am showers and 7.30am nursery drops and 8.30am school drop offs, it is such decadent luxury to sit in bed with a second mug of coffee.

Packing cubes. Makes packing for holidays so much easier, I can pack swimwear/cover ups in one, going out stuff in another, underwear in another etc. When you’ve reached your destination simply remove from your case an place in drawer or shelf, sometimes I find packing overwhelming and this way makes it doable in smaller quantities.

A pull out pan drawer.
No longer do I have to lie flat on the floor with a torch in search of a pot or pan.
My life is complete.

Why would you be on the floor looking for pans? Don’t you hang them? How bizarre.

Crushed23 · 10/01/2025 18:32

More of a re-discovery.

Babybel.

The perfect low-carb, high-protein snack. I often throw a couple in my handbag.

Jellykat · 10/01/2025 18:33

I've discovered the art of saying No, at 61!

Georgyporky · 10/01/2025 18:35

Dymotape labeller.

All dry goods - pastas, rices, pulses etc - are in jars & labelled so I can see what's lurking at the back of the cupboards; and I add cooking times for hob & P.C.
Herb & Spice jars as well.
Might make one for my forehead with my own address - "If found, please return to..."

Shannith · 10/01/2025 18:38

Electric hot water bottle. From Amazon

It was a tip on here. I was skeptical but literally life changing in the way that my heated throw was life changing 5 years ago.

They warm up quickly, have a lovey long lasting heat, no worries about them bursting.

Perfect at bedtime. Literally will always own them - that good!

Tumbler2121 · 10/01/2025 18:39

Flow Headset. For depression, it has worked magic for me. I was at the stage of feeling as though my whole life was swimming through cold sludge, although I counted my blessings and kept telling myself how lucky I was, I was just totally and utterly miserable. Had been through several antidepressants.

Since using it I've been happy, interested, content and looking forward, all things I haven't been able to do for years although I've gone through the motions of socialising and doing things with friends and family.

Flow Headset is being used by some NHS areas, it has amazing results for a high proportion of people. Since I started using it I have felt like me again. I have felt happy, I have looked forward to things in a way I thought I never could again.

Mounjaro! At 54 I was looking decidedly portly, especially around my midrift and in my face. So far, I have slowly but steadily lost 30lbs and my uncontrollable sugar cravings have disappeared. My midrift looks slender yes, actually slender, and my jawline and cheekbones have reappeared. I look younger, have more energy and all my middle aged aches & pains have disappeared.

But what is it? It just looks like various hikes.

Yes, positively insane to keep saucepans in a cupboard. I've never heard of such a thing.

Bippityboppitybooo · 10/01/2025 17:39

In the last week, an air frier which dh is now obsessed with. And for me, a flash speed mop - perfect for the lazy/time poor!

Dh is the main cook in our house. He was so sure we didn't need an air fryer. Friend gave me one and guess who uses it most? 🤣

I need a decent mop. I only have a small kitchen but atm white tiles and they always look mucky.

Paradisegained · 10/01/2025 18:01

Put the clothes and coats on radiators as well - toasty warm in the winter!

This is genius - I can’t believe I haven’t been doing that the whole time!!

Chuchoter · 10/01/2025 18:54

Must get glasses. I read it that you were into tea bagging.

HappiestSleeping · 10/01/2025 18:54

My wife.

RapunzelsSplitEnds · 10/01/2025 18:55

LondonPapa There is no room to hang pans as it is a tiny kitchen with a very low ceiling. The torch was to see as it is very dark in there-be-dragons pan cupboard or to signal for help if I got stuck.

rosemole · 10/01/2025 18:56

Trig points are concrete pillars found all over the country (and world) erected in order to accurately measure and map the landscape by the ordinance survey. They are usually located at high points (but not necessarily the highest) and the idea of 'bagging' them is the very anoraky and fun hobby that I now love. I have the book for my county and plan to tick them all off my list.

You don't have to interact with family that do not respect you. Blood is not thicker than water

This 100%!! Finally setting boundaries that others can chose to keep to, or leave me alone.

Also - I don't have to eat tomatoes as they NEVER, EVER live up to expectations! I'm done with the little devils disappointing me very time!

Another one for Mounjaro. So THIS is how people live that aren't obsessed with food like I am. Food noise is real.

Recoba · 10/01/2025 18:57

Rice cooker. Got given one for Christmas and it's made cooking rice so easy, particularly with two young children running round. Keeps it warm so even if I haven't got the timings on dinner right we still have perfect rice.

NeonGreenHighlighter · 10/01/2025 18:58

Started carrying a single over the door hook in my coat pocket, so that if I'm in a public toilet with no hook on the door i can still hang up my coat and bag

Brilliant
