For the better, obviously.

Can be a thing, person, activity, place...anything really.

Mine is trig bagging. It's so much fun and gets you out there, to unexpected and unknown places.

What's yours?

Packing cubes. Makes packing for holidays so much easier, I can pack swimwear/cover ups in one, going out stuff in another, underwear in another etc. When you’ve reached your destination simply remove from your case an place in drawer or shelf, sometimes I find packing overwhelming and this way makes it doable in smaller quantities.

These are brilliant! We discovered them 18 months ago and use them in our campervan, so everything is packed neatly in different coloured cubes so you know which one has the undies in etc., and the clothes cupboard is neatly stacked instead of random clothes stuffed in. Absolute game changer.

These!

So bad for the environment

Strangers it may sound the thing that's changed my life recently is a pack of magnesium stick on patches that help you sleep. They cost me £1.65 for a box from Temu. Now I sleep for four whole hours at a time before waking up. It puts me into a deep sleep.

Apparently stop your slow cooker getting covered in gunk! You just lift out the food intact in the liner and no cleaning required. I'm partial to a whole slow cooked chicken but the mess is a pain to clear out 😕

Add a scoop of washing powder, any kind and fill with warm water and leave several hours/overnight. The burnt on stuff and grot just rinses away. If there is still a bit remaining do the same again. No scrubbing required.

And I say all that but I cant lift my 6litre pot when it's full. So errr use the bags.

Oh and walking. Im the laziest bugger in the world and hate exercise. I always thought walking did nowt, but I just discovered that its quite the workout and I can do it without dying every day. Score.

Walking was the only exercise I did and I liked it because you don't need any special stuff to do it, but now I have a damaged leg and walking is painful and tiring and it makes me feel sad as I am not a gym person and really used to like the fact that I could incorporate walking into my normal day.

KindLemur · 10/01/2025 19:55

A sort of cylindrical plug in heater from Costco, was about 60 quid, one in bedroom one in lounge, genuinely heats the whole room as if the heating has been on in about 20 mins, keeps it toasty and doesn’t use much electric. Doesn’t look dead ugly either.

A weighted blanket. I’ve never had such uninterrupted sleep!

Do you think this would work for insomnia? Are they very warm? I chuckled the duvet off pretty much every night and that’s with no heating on in bedroom.

Mounjaro found on AliExpress?

Definitely not, haha!

I hear you! I'm now officially retired at 54 and regularly snooze in bed until 9.30am (bliss) especially if I've stayed up late reading into the small hours (more bliss).

After years and years of 6.30am showers and 7.30am nursery drops and 8.30am school drop offs, it is such decadent luxury to sit in bed with a second mug of coffee.

Any time in single figures I consider getting up early although I usually nip down at about 7.30 to make a cup of coffee to take back to bed.

Oh I feel you. I was doing the gym and swimming but had to stop because I had a rotator cuff injury so I was in the pit of doom. BUT then I discovered walking - game changer. Could you try swimming?

Temu and Shein

My mother is obsessed with Temu. So many times she's said "I saw this on Temu and thought it might be of use..."

Had it last year but my heated throw. I feel the cold badly and this has literally changed my life as now I'm comfy.

I agree. I got one on offer from Lakeland and it’s changed my life. I am at home 24/7 and need to keep warm, but having the heating on costs a fortune and makes my skin flaky, dry eyes and mouth, headaches.
It has helped with sleep as well. I often wake at 2/3 in the morning with painful legs so I pop it on a low heat and it helps with the pain and getting back to sleep.

I was given admittedly at my request some Piglet in bed bedding (in the sale). I just felt like I didn't need more "stuff" and would rather upgrade ordinary things to special things. A real treat.

I have just put it on my bed and I can say that it is a game changer. I have never felt so gloriously comfy and cozy in a bed in my life.
I am never going back.

Park Run, I started doing it about 3 months ago with my son for his gcse PE. Can't believe I'm saying this but I love it; friendly, just the right amount of competition (though more with myself!) and I feel like I'm doing something for my physical and mental health. Plus I get to spend time with my oldest who zooms ahead of me and cheers me on at the end.

arowrot · 10/01/2025 19:58

not shopping, not spending - and decluttering.

TigerRag · 10/01/2025 20:01

Coverless duvet. So much easier to chuck the thing in the washing machine and not have to try and put the cover on after

I clicked on the trip bagging link and am still none the wiser!

I would say a best buy was a special suction tool that removes the kickboards from below the kitchen cupboards really simply, they just come right away on the tool.

Are the slow cooker liners single use plastic? Not very keen on that sadly.

A suction tool for kickboards? Ours have been pushed in. Would they work to bring them back in line to the front?

bigkahunaburger · 10/01/2025 20:02

I second coverless duvets. I have dyspraxia and it was a game changer for me after spending years battling with duvet covers - i just cant get the bastards on.

Try geocaching too.

I've done a lot of that too but the ones that are too obscure, tiny and/or impossible to find end up annoying me and so spoiling my trip. A trig point the size of a fridge out in the open has got to be easier to find than a matchbox-sized geocache hidden up a badger's arsehole.

Dh is the main cook in our house. He was so sure we didn't need an air fryer. Friend gave me one and guess who uses it most? 🤣

I need a decent mop. I only have a small kitchen but atm white tiles and they always look mucky.

Maybe try the Bosch Aqua Vacuum Mop? So easy to grab and whiz round the kitchen, vacuuming and mopping in one go. And it uses the same batteries as other bosch appliances so running out of power isn't an issue.

Podcasts that you can see not just audio. I'm late to the party.

Great idea

A toniebox. Audioplayer for small children for anyone unaware. Keeps the kids in bed not running around, listening to their stories. Win

@VexedofVirginiaWater This wont change your life but it could shorten your posts https://tinyurl.com/

My shark lift away vacuum cleaner does encourage me to vacuum more often. Filters are a bit of a pain though.
