I've been buying Waitrose Essential (9s) for about two years as I often get a pound off voucher. But the quality has deteriorated so I need a new bogroll buy. I used to buy Nicky. Is it still any good? Thankyou.

Don't know about Nicky sorry - but you may find this interesting - it discusses the pro's and cons of some brands.

Is eco-friendly toilet paper 'the best thing since sliced bread'?

The duck stuff, from Farm Foods is great quality and also a great price.

chattyness · 06/01/2025 17:59

I buy little duck supreme it's currently £5.50 for a 24 pack in tesco

Deebee90 · 06/01/2025 18:01

I buy Andrex and andrex only. If I get another brand I get sore skin weirdly.

CaptainCabinetsTrappedInCabinets · 06/01/2025 18:01

Aldi, double length toilet roll. Don't over think it. Your wiping your arse with it and flushing it away!

muddyford · 06/01/2025 18:04

Sainsbury's or Tesco double length. I found Andrex to be too prone to tearing in use...

Judellie · 06/01/2025 18:10

As long as it's not coated in anything you should be free from any infection. That's my main concern (who had the stupid idea of coating it in shea butter? Bet it was a man!)

Who gives a crap

Just seconding this brand (and in case anyone thought PP was just being rude!) The only thing is that I just don’t have enough storage space for so many toilet rolls 😬

Flushing it away?

We rinse ours, sellotape it together, iron it, and then roll it up again for a second pass, as it were.

(Oviously we use the reverse side.)

Who gives a crap

I had a freebie with my shopping. I was pleasantly surprised. Will be swapping once I've worked my way through current brand.

tryinganothername · 06/01/2025 18:43

Also highly recommend Who gives a crap.

Been using it for about 6 years now

Spirallingdownwards · 06/01/2025 18:46

Yes another vote for Who Gives a Crap

Who gives a crap

Another plus of this is the bathroom is far less dusty since using it

APurpleSquirrel · 06/01/2025 19:17

Bamboo Who Gives A Crap - doesn't pill & disintegrate.

TheHeadOfTheHouse · 06/01/2025 19:22

Costco Kirkland brand.

who gives a crap are expensive and there is a lot of unnecessary wastage as each roll is individually wrapped in wrapping paper

ohtowinthelottery · 06/01/2025 19:40

I still buy Nicky in Home Bargains. Haven't noticed any change in quality from what it always was.

Lazery · 06/01/2025 19:43

I second Costco Kirkland. Won't use anything else at home.

DoloresODonovan · 06/01/2025 20:04

OP we too bought Waitrose own, 24 pack, now spoilt as you say.

We buy Sainsbury cushioned, much better.

We have two packs, one opened obviously of Morrisons own called SOFT
waiting to be returned.
It is so thin and insubstantial it is dngerous, as I discovered using it enthusiastically when my fingernail went rignt through it, The pain. Even for blowing noses we find
it isnt soft and need to fold it many times.
Im appreciating being able to warn, advise, complain of this awful product which is
clearly not fit for the purpose or which it is intended.

Ive bought Aldi in the past, cushioned, that was fine. I’m willing to try others, not recycled though, its like tree bark mostly.

Vaxtable · 06/01/2025 20:07

I am so disappointed with the new Waitrose toilet roll. It’s awful

I have gone back to and Andrex

GreyBlackBay · 06/01/2025 20:10

My mum has to have triple velvet, I'm surprised their waste pipes can cope with it.

I'm a tesco double roll fan. Good quality, the pack takes up half the space and the rolls last twice as long.

MouldyCandy · 06/01/2025 20:10

Cushelle. 24 or 32 roll pack from Iceland or Lidl.

Printedword · 06/01/2025 20:12

Currently on Andrex classic but think it has shrinkflation sized rolls so looking for something else soft.

Nugg · 06/01/2025 20:12

Another vote for Who gives a crap

Don't ever think I'd be enthusiastic about bog roll but it's really good. Less dust, lovely and soft and lasts long!
