I've been buying Waitrose Essential (9s) for about two years as I often get a pound off voucher. But the quality has deteriorated so I need a new bogroll buy. I used to buy Nicky. Is it still any good? Thankyou.

Who gives a crap are great, I now never run out and the order is flexible so you can delay delivery etc as suits.

I agree

mitogoshigg · 08/01/2025 13:09

Lidl, 3 ply - is fine and reasonable

Asda shades double rolls

TheTecknician · 08/01/2025 20:27

Bogroll seems to have been exclusively white for at least a decade. I remember Andrex and Petal coming in various pastel shades, presumably to match coloured bathroom suites of yesteryear.

I worked in a home improvement trade , ceramic toilet roll holders were also made to match coloured bathroom suites and hence colour loo roll.

Who gives a crap.
delivered to my home every few months.
game changer.

mulberrybag5 · 08/01/2025 20:34

We use who gives a crap (the more expensive loo roll they do). Cannot fault it.

crumpet · 08/01/2025 20:42

Another Who Gives a Crap user here, been using them since before lockdown. Unfortunately I recently buggered up trying to adjust the delivery periods and as a result of my intention/haste am looking forward to a 96 roll delivery in the next day or so - Lord knows where I’m going to store them all 😄

I’ve ordered naked sprout off the back of this thread to try as they were £13 cheaper than my usual WGAC. Sadly my initial impression isn’t great. The rolls are TINY, the paper feels much rougher and thinner and I wasted about 5 sheets just trying to get the end unstuck. I took a picture but don’t seem to have the option to upload it. Will use them for now and see if my opinion changes…

The Sainsbury's rolls I bought a few weeks ago are definitely superior to the Essential Waitrose I had hitherto. My new go-to for going-to.

Does everyone on this thread know that Waitrose have reverted after pressure. The old gorgeous toilet rolls are back but the new awful ones are apparently still staying.

@TheTecknician tagging you as you started the thread. I agree Sainsbury's is good too.

HouseFullOfChaos · 06/02/2025 14:16

I think that a lot of these so called eco loo rolls are a load of rubbish. I found WGAC to be so thin we used it so quickly, the bamboo version was too expensive and all the individual wrapping was pointless. I then bought a subscription to Serious Tissues which I really liked until there was a big piece of plastic in the box with the loo rolls once. I emailed them asking about it and they explained that of course the loo rolls are bulk wrapped in plastic to get to their factory where they then take them out and put them in cardboard boxes to send to customers. It's all an eco con.

Sainsbury's paper wrapped double rolls are fantastic, very soft and last for ages. Costco Kirkland rolls are really good too but each 4 rolls are wrapped in plastic which isn't great.

Happyher · 06/02/2025 14:23

Cushelle for me. Usually wait till it’s on offer as it’s a bit pricy but the best I’ve used

hotchocdrinker · 06/02/2025 14:40

Yes indeed. The old Waitrose ones are back in new packaging. They're not 'essential' any more and are in blue striped packaging.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 06/02/2025 15:12

We bulk buy Box Roll. Made in the uk from uk paper waste.

TheTecknician · 06/02/2025 19:03

The bogroll at my last workplace was excellent but was a commercial product only available in bulk on account to corporate customers. I think it was supplied by a company called Nationwide (nothing to do with Frank Bough et al) who supplied detergents and cleansing stuff too.
