Still going here in north Herts. It's not "big snow" but a couple of centimetres now I'd say. Rain is still forecast from early hours.

backslashruby · 04/01/2025 23:29

It's now arrived in the Staffordshire Moorlands, since about 9-30pm. Only very light but steady and settling.

TheBlackSheepbaaaa · 04/01/2025 23:29

Light but settling here in West Yorkshire.

PickAChew · 04/01/2025 23:31

About an hour away from us, now. Consett is probably under about a foot of it already 🤣

We’re in Sussex and we had snow for about 10 minutes. My two excited Australian children went outside, drew some balls on the ground and on the car, and then it started raining. Still, they sent photos to their friends back home of the snow (all half a cm of it) so that was good.

Luddite26 · 05/01/2025 06:14

W Yorks got a bit of a dumping and still going.

ThejoyofNC · 05/01/2025 06:16

About 2 inches in my garden this morning. My dog loves it.

Sheknowsaboutme · 05/01/2025 07:04

Not even 2 cms and im in Snowdonia.

this country is seriously embarrassing. Closing runways😂😂😂😂

Blackcat910 · 05/01/2025 07:07

I live in holmfirth and there is a good 4 or 5 inches and it’s still heavily snowing. Roads are impassable.

Frangywangywoowah · 05/01/2025 07:08

Coastal south wales....it's just wet!

I think we give ourselves a bit of a hard time over that - for context some of the European airports including a couple of the big ones in Germany are just about open but struggling this AM due runway closures due snow….

Most primary age school children live within a mile?

Maybe in a city, but we don't all live in those

NewYearIsHere · 05/01/2025 07:29

Yorkshire and there’s a good 30cm on top of the car with snow still coming down.

Schools often close because the staff to children ratio is insufficient. A lot of teachers don't live near the schools they work at.

We have proper snow now. We have rain forecast then more snow. Glad I WFH most days.

HoraceCope · 05/01/2025 07:30

nothing in my part of southeast
even though i had to drive last night @ 9 pm.
heavy rain
sleet later but that didnt last

such a fuss!

MintSass · 05/01/2025 07:30

Just heavy rain in my area of South Devon. It’s actually a lot milder this morning too, first morning in a while I haven’t had to put my dressing gown on.

We usually don’t get much down here anyway, and when we do it’s usually melted and slushy within a day, so not very exciting or picturesque.

A godsend really, because on the rare occasion that we do get extreme weather, our estate* turns into an ice rink so it reduces the amount of awkward phone calls I have to make to work to tell them I can’t come in!

*as in housing estate, I’m not the Earl of Devon.

Peak district here. Woke up to it covered. It looks beautiful

I was replying to pp that thought all staff and pupils lived within a mile of their school? Not about them closing

Pat888 · 05/01/2025 07:43

2 inches here, SW Scotland inland

SnakesAndArrows · 05/01/2025 07:44

Merseyside coastal - we have about 2 inches, which is fairly unusual for these parts, but it sounds like it’s melting now. Liverpool airport’s runway is closed at the moment but it sounds as though they are expecting to have it clear imminently.

festivemouse · 05/01/2025 07:53

Several inches here in the northwest! Just witnessed a truck sliding round a corner, not even the vehicles made for these conditions are surviving 😂

MiddleAgedDread · 05/01/2025 07:56

According to the met office radar it’s been snowing for the last half hour here……not a flake yet!!

Hemax1 · 05/01/2025 08:00

4/5 inches of snow lying here ( NE England ) and more coming down. Kids are sitting on the windowsill watching it and planning snowmen

SnapdragonToadflax · 05/01/2025 08:00

We had decent snow overnight in Essex, I woke up at 6am and it was quite thick on the cars and shed roof. Melting already from the rain even then though, and almost gone now.

It's going to be very mild and wet today in the south, going back to cold by Tuesday.

XxSideshowAuntSallyx · 05/01/2025 08:05

We had some but it's melting now it's raining. But even before that it really wasn't worth the yellow warning of snow we had.
