I mean ..that's it 😂..
I have put laughing face ...but a few hours ago ...I was not laughing!

Due to be delivered later today.
I was adding bits and realised that it was coming to the " wrong" address .

It was meant to be going straight to DM's house but it was coming to my address instead ..

I wanted to change the address...and somehow clicked something " wrong "

So now ...
I have woken up with a jolt and realised what a mammoth task I have ahead of me today!!!!

Sainsbury's opens at 6am .

Will the shelves be stocked up at that time ?

I don't drive ...so I reckon it will take me 2 or 3 trips to be able to get it all home 😂😂

Annoying! Get a taxi though.

Can you afford a taxi to get your shopping home and do it in a oner be better use of your time?

bizzey · 23/12/2024 04:56

I would get a taxi home anyway ...but I was going to split the shopping as it would still be to much to put in and out of taxi .

I think I will leave the heavy alcohol out .

. ONLY KIDDING 🤣 🤣 🤣!!!

I mean ...my DC's can get that later...

I'm not surprised you're awake after doing that. Oh dear!
Is the slot available for you to re-book? I guess it might be too late now.
At least you won't get random substitutions if you do it yourself.
Definitely get a taxi home!

bizzey · 23/12/2024 05:06

I am sure it was a sign...of some sort !

Luckily, the meat is to be collected from butchers today.

I have a Sainsbury's or an Asda to choose from 🤔🤔.

Not been real food shopping for years...think I might find it a bit too overwhelming in the massive Asda at 6am this morning !

OP posts:
bizzey · 23/12/2024 05:14

Ohh...I forgot ..
Asda is 24 hours !
It is open now ....

I am going to get started and then if it goes wrong ...I still have a lot of hours left to try the other shops

I am not just shopping for my household, I am doing DM's shopping as well 🤣

OP we're doing xmas at my mum's (she lives in the same village as me) but I'm helping with the prep etc.
We were going to do the big shop a few days ago.
Then this dog ATE A ROCK.
I'm serious.
The rock has now been surgically removed from his intestines and returned to us in a plastic bag. Its about 1in by 1.5in.
He's home. Still a bit sorry for himself, but he's started eating again and perking up to be home.
We have done nothing.
This rock has cost over sixteen hundred pounds.
I'm going to babysit him today while she attempts to buy some xmas food.
Merry Christmas.

I am off to Booths at 7 am then Aldi.

Just trying to get the courage to get up and in the shower.

Waiting for the heating to warm the house up a bit.

All this for some fancy cheese 😆

Hope your first trip is going well OP!

GreyAreas · 23/12/2024 05:32

Good luck OP! Lidl was an oasis of zen yesterday, weirdly.

Happyinheels · 23/12/2024 05:36

Oh you poor thing 😩
I am off to M&S at 7am and then Aldi. Dreading it, hence me awake now! I have my list!
Getting my hair done at 9 so need to be done by then!
Good luck everyone!

PuppiesProzacProsecco · 23/12/2024 05:37

I'd definitely cry if I did this. I'm lying in bed waiting for the asda email that reads "we're sorry but you have 84 substitutions and 16 unavailable items in your order today".

I've already planned a Tesco and M&S run for later to try and get what asda screw up.

The shops close for one day. This is why Christmas does my head in.

It’s nothing to do with the shops being closed. People do a Christmas food shop for the Christmas period, ie Christmas Eve-new year. I’ve got my shopping in and I have no intention of visiting a supermarket until after NYD.

Lots of people are feeding more than usually live in their households, which obviously requires extra food. Christmas is a time for indulgence which again requires extra food. Lots of fresh food like cheese, cream, extra milk means getting a shop in as close to Christmas as possible. This is why lots of us book a big shop to be delivered. Surely you can understand that.

suki1964 · 23/12/2024 06:00

I done it all yesterday

Had to go to lidl for dog food and orange juice, got there 15mins before store was supposed to open, they were open, store was empty, walked in saw all the veg was 8p - turned back and grabbed a trolley and 45 mins later was loading the car - bliss

The shops close for one day. This is why Christmas does my head in.

I get an online delivery every Saturday, which means I don't have to shop the rest of the week unless we run out of something I wasn't expecting, or something was unavailable. But I also go into the office in the town centre once a week so I can nip into the shop on my way home/lunch break.

Christmas time I need more food because the whole house is at home instead of at work (DH is on site 5 days a week) or nursery. And more people visit. I don't want to spend my Christmas period in the shops, which are always manic, instead of with my family.

Because I can't book it in the same way as a normal week, this week's is coming today instead of Saturday. Means everything is a bit fresher for Christmas Day, granted, but also means that if it didn't come, for whatever reason, I'd have to face the physical shops with a 3 year old and the huge amount of people who are also doing a last minute big shop. Not my idea of fun.

Nowt to do with the shops being closed for one day (or, for many here, two because they're also shutting boxing day). Everything to do with needing more food and not wanting to waste your time with family.

ChristmasinBrighton · 23/12/2024 06:15

I only have two substitutions but one of them is Guinness!!! I mean, there is no fucking substitute for Guinness!!

I think the corner shop sells it for about £5 a can so I will do that 😂

Wishing peace and love to anyone hitting the Big Shops today or tomorrow.

This is such a tiresome post. People cater for more during the festive period. People, like me shop for around 10 days as I did yesterday. I can the use the village shop for bread, milk and any extra veg. Shops close for 2 days here this week and 2 days next week for New Year. I don’t want to have to travel 25 miles for a supermarket to be open on Boxing Day. I am also feeding 8 people tomorrow, CD and Boxing Day. We’ve got other family coming on Saturday.

Last year I thought I got a 24th December delivery slot. I was so pleased with myself, cue an entire Christmas big shop turning up on November 24th…..

God luck today @bizzey !

That's not the reason that people buy more food before Christmas though, you must know that. No ones doing an extra big shop in case they run out of milk on boxing day.

Businessflake · 23/12/2024 06:22

True. But there is a widely reported shortage.

I shouldn't laugh but there was another thread the other day where a dog had eaten all sorts of random shit that needed to be surgically removed. The dog was a corgi X lab and everyone blamed the labrador half but maybe it was the corgi bit!😆

You should find the thread so you can commiserate together, they had a similar bill too

(Glad he's OK!)

Edit: there you go!
