I mean ..that's it 😂..
I have put laughing face ...but a few hours ago ...I was not laughing!

Due to be delivered later today.
I was adding bits and realised that it was coming to the " wrong" address .

It was meant to be going straight to DM's house but it was coming to my address instead ..

I wanted to change the address...and somehow clicked something " wrong "

So now ...
I have woken up with a jolt and realised what a mammoth task I have ahead of me today!!!!

Sainsbury's opens at 6am .

Will the shelves be stocked up at that time ?

I'm boggling at the number of posters who can't imagine why a person may need to make more than one trip to cope with a large, heavy shop.

Clue: taxi drivers are not grocery delivery staff, they do not pack and then unload it in your kitchen.

pilates · 23/12/2024 10:15

Good luck op hope you get everything. I was in Asda yesterday and they were doing bags of carrots, potatoes and parsnips for 9p.

Most will wait until you pack and unload though.

To the posters who are mocking the fact that I had to use a small trolley, taxi and have no one to help me ....

Awww good on you for taking it so well and getting it pretty much sorted already!!

If it makes you feel any better, I did NOT cancel my big food delivery for later today, but have already been to Tesco twice this morning😂😂

And, I don't drive either. Hopefully all the steps are burning off tonight's wine calories in advance!

Have a lovely Christmas!!

Cabbies at Christmas? Not IME. They might help load the bags into the boot at the supermarket but not carry it upstairs or to the front door. It isnt their job and they don't have the time between calls.

And of course that ignores getting the trolley around the store and loading it, then unloading it at the checkout and repacking it. There is a reason why people with limited mobility/physical strength overhwhelmingly choose home delivery even if it costs more.

I wasn't suggesting they'd carry it, I was saying they'd wait while you unpack - give them a double tip if they'll wait until you've got everything in the building. That's surely cheaperband easier than making several trips.

If you did that with an Uber driver they'd give you a 1 star rating regardless of tip.

My Sainsbury's order arrived at 7.30 this morning with zero substitutions or unavailable items!! I'm a very happy bunny😂

Got up early to get to Waitrose for 8am. Car park, free, was almost full when I arrived at 7.50am and there was alarmingly a long queue of people waiting to get in! Reminded me of lock down. Thankfully, I got what I needed. Then off to Aldi to get the remainder. Packed as well. However most people were in good cheer.

So pleased you got your shopping done. Send the children out for medicine
drink! Much love to you!

Yet another reason not use uber and phone a taxi company direct. Give the tip direct to the driver too.

God no, there's only one where I live (they bought out all the other companies) and they're dreadful. They always say they're five minutes away and then take half an hour to get there, they massively overcharge compared to Uber, and they just don't care. I was taking my very sick cat to the emergency vet on NYD one year and they took the longest route possible and then told me they needed to add a £20 surcharge for it being NYD when we got there.

Found an SD card in the back of one, told the driver, called the company, they didn't care to try to return it to the owner. I posted one of the photos on the SD card on social media and tracked down the owner within about an hour, it turned out to be a lovely old lady's precious family photos she thought she'd lost forever.

Won't give them my money at all.

Right, well local companies are generally a better option imho.

Bromley M&S food hall Saturday afternoon had lots left including turkeys and plenty of veg, booze, cheese and biscuits etc. Didn’t go to the Lidl opposite but Sainsbury’s near me also had lots left including turkeys and veg.

Anyone who’s not sympathetic to you is a dick. I’ve been there years ago when didn’t drive and had to rely on lifts or taxis. People don’t drive or can’t for all sorts of reasons, my epileptic friend for one.

I have a delivery booked from Morrisons this morning.

Couldn't accidentally cancel it, as cut off for editing was Friday night, so was locked in.

Had email and text from them to say they're on their way, however, something was wrong in email and went to website to check and Morrisons website and app is down!

Getting worried now as others have had emails cancelling, so not sure if it's coming or not, plus all my money is tied up there.

Same here, but it was just delivered. Hope yours arrives soon.

I think if you've had the email confirmation, it should be fine.

FluDog · 23/12/2024 11:25

To be fair I enjoy a pop to the supermarket on Christmas Eve because it's dead. I think everyone expects it to be busy in the days before Christmas so they avoid going, but in my experience it's very quiet. Probably busier a week ago.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but you’ve been robbed blind - they’re doing them for 8p a bag in Aldi 😔

I went to Sainsburys for a few bits yesterday morning and for once I timed it spot on. Got there just before 9.30, parked, round the shop and got everything I needed, then had to hang around for 2 minutes until 10am when the tills opened. Paid and came out, and as I was driving away I noticed that the car park was already rammed full, and there was a queue of cars several hundred yards long trying to get in. Madness.

The shops close for one day. This is why Christmas does my head in.

Depends where you live. Depends on how many people are coming to eat with you. Depends how prepared you like to be. For me, get it done before Christmas and try to avoid the shops for several days.

FatOaf · 23/12/2024 11:43

Anyone know why Sainsbury's don't have any swedes?

Piled high with every other kind of vegetable (including turnips and celeriac), but not a single swede in the place.

Is it just my branch?

I can drive, but I can't use a big trolley and just the trips to bring the bags in from the car set off my back. So you definitely have my sympathies.

@shellyleppard tell me about it. He's loads better today and eating and drinking well. He's constipated but his painkillers are the dog equivalent of cocodamol so I guess that's why. Of course now he feels better he's noticed the large line of stitches in his stomach so the cone may be coming out soon 🙄

Which planet or era do you live in where cabbies happily help you in with shopping for a tip (whilst no doubt doffing caps and saying "gawd bless you ma'am")? Brigadoon?

Uber isn't the only taxi platform scheduled to death. Former reliable local firms are gone and the few remaining are chains which scheduled in exactly the same way using similar software. Even willing drivers have to hit their KPIs for responding and turnaround of calls and journeys - hence their stress levels when they hit unexpected traffic jams.

Edited

Again, I didn't say the taxi driver would be carrying anything. Can you not read?
