I mean ..that's it 😂..
I have put laughing face ...but a few hours ago ...I was not laughing!

Due to be delivered later today.
I was adding bits and realised that it was coming to the " wrong" address .

It was meant to be going straight to DM's house but it was coming to my address instead ..

I wanted to change the address...and somehow clicked something " wrong "

So now ...
I have woken up with a jolt and realised what a mammoth task I have ahead of me today!!!!

Sainsbury's opens at 6am .

Will the shelves be stocked up at that time ?

I'd definitely cry if I did this. I'm lying in bed waiting for the asda email that reads "we're sorry but you have 84 substitutions and 16 unavailable items in your order today".

I've already planned a Tesco and M&S run for later to try and get what asda screw up.

I am doing exactly the same thing, I keep refreshing the app

It’s nothing to do with the shops being closed. People do a Christmas food shop for the Christmas period, ie Christmas Eve-new year. I’ve got my shopping in and I have no intention of visiting a supermarket until after NYD.

Lots of people are feeding more than usually live in their households, which obviously requires extra food. Christmas is a time for indulgence which again requires extra food. Lots of fresh food like cheese, cream, extra milk means getting a shop in as close to Christmas as possible. This is why lots of us book a big shop to be delivered. Surely you can understand that.

"Christmas is a time for indulgence"

Only if you make it so.

Personally, I don't eat anything I wouldn't normally. But it is incredibly stressful trying to go anywhere/get any food/ do most normal things this week, due to the large number of people going crazy at the shops.

The shops close for one day. This is why Christmas does my head in.

Some of us are at work! I'm working today, tomorrow, and Friday. Buggered if I'm fighting my way round Sainsbury's by choice.

Elderflower14 · 23/12/2024 08:19

We were lucky with our Asda order yesterday. No J20s but we had some already. King Edward Potatoes were subbed for Maris Pipers and Pancetta subbed for Smoked Pancetta.
A relatives order(not sure where from) arrived the other day with no turkey!!

I only have two substitutions but one of them is Guinness!!! I mean, there is no fucking substitute for Guinness!!

I think the corner shop sells it for about £5 a can so I will do that 😂

Wishing peace and love to anyone hitting the Big Shops today or tomorrow.

There's a shortage of Guinness. Not sure why but DP was taking about it last week.

ElBandito · 23/12/2024 08:21

If delivery to that different address would come from a different branch you aren't going to be able to simply change the address as the other branch won't have slots available. I expect that's why it ended up cancelled.

AspirationalTallskinnylatte · 23/12/2024 08:22

My top tip is service station m&s - I completely forgot about food shopping one year and bought pretty much a whole Xmas dinner in there to bring back on our way home on Xmas eve. Turkey crown, ready done toasties, red cabbage, gravy, green veg, mince pies. No Xmas pudding but only I like that.

Dyslexiateacherpost88 · 23/12/2024 08:24

My asda has slots for tomorrow (24th) again! I think some people book slots and then cancel them.

bizzey · 23/12/2024 08:29

Well I am back enjoying a cuppa reading all the posts !

Don't know where to start with some of them 🤣!

It was weirdly strange at 6.10am in Sainsbury's!
Like a ghost town .
Shelves were full and good dates .
No customers..just me and the workers !

Got everything apart from alcohol as they didn't have the big/deep trolleys , just the shallow ones and by the time I got around to the alcohol section I was already playing Jenga with the shopping 🤣!

I hope all the poorly pets get better soon !

@AspirationalTallskinnylatte - that is a genius tip! Almost tempted to do that and save myself a trip around a bigger supermarket 😆

SJM1988 · 23/12/2024 08:32

Glad you got the shopping done. I went this morning at 5am to Tesco - it was rammed. The car park was half full and when I left at 630am it was literally full!

shellyleppard · 23/12/2024 08:32

@iloveeverykindofcat 😳😳😳😳 not a bill you wanted at Christmas!!! Hope your doggo is alright

EveInEden · 23/12/2024 08:33

I've sent the wrong Next return back, my DFs gifts rather than items which didn't fit DD. Only realised when went to wrap everything yesterday. Off out today.

spuddy4 · 23/12/2024 08:38

I've been in work since 3am (and get to do it again tomorrow, yay!) and it's been busy since we opened at 5am. Fair play to the people who get up early to be here because if I wasn't in work I'd be in bed. Please play nice with us retail workers today and tomorrow, most people do but you always get the few that accuse us of ruining Christmas 🙈

BogRollBOGOF · 23/12/2024 08:42

I'm making the most of extended hours later. There tends to be fewer families and more lone people at that time and it's no worse than any other week's shop.

From the posts I see about booking slots, errors and substitutions, going in person is no more stressful or time consuming. The supermarkets are stocked up and prepared for it, although I will conceed that having a range of supermarkets in 5 miles is an advantage; they won't all simultaneously run out of carrots. And if they randomly did, I've got another chance tomorrow.

IsThisIt2021 · 23/12/2024 08:44

Mine just arrived. Had it arrive early so when I’m out with the DC today I can get anything that’s been missed. Took a punt and ordered Turkey crown from Asda. To feed 6-8. They’ve delivered a Turkey breast joint that feeds 2-4. That’ll do my youngest 🤣 so I’ll be on the look out for Turkey.

Tabbyandwhite · 23/12/2024 08:45

Good luck anyone who needs to go shopping!

Not long from M&S, 6 am was absolutely chocca. Well stocked and got what was needed but you literally couldn't move very fast at all. Haven't seen it that bad in a long time.

Trolley rage and road rage. Got honked for crossing at a pedestrian crossing as the van driver had to stop at a red light and obviously didn't like it! Anyhow back home now relatively unscathed.

Horrace · 23/12/2024 08:48

That's it.
Life as you know it has ceased to be.
I'd give up now
🤣🤣🤣

I know it is only 9AM ...but I am really wishing I had got some of the alcohol now as well 😜😜😉!

Oh @bizzey, I did this last year, a couple days before it was due. Fat fingers and a bit of panic and after weeks of kids illness etc it was just the icing on a big shit cake.
Huge praise to my local Tesco though! When I called them they told me that because some of it was special order, it would still come into store and I could collect it. They did, and I did, as well as a backup wonder from the local butcher and another last minute delivery slot…we ended up with too much food 😝 and the home delivery manager got a nice bottle of whiskey for his troubles.

Well done. I've just been to Sainsburys too (I don't order online) - fully stocked, only moderately busy, happy atmosphere, no queues.

BurntBroccoli · 23/12/2024 09:18

From previous years , I've found one of the best times to shop is late afternoon Christmas Eve. Everyone has pretty much done their food shop by then and there are always loads of bargains to be had.
