What cosmetic procedures have you had done?

Just out of curiosity!
I'll go first. I'm 30.

Botox
Lip filler
Tear trough (this has to be one of my faves)
Nose filler
Composite bonded veneers (no shaving of teeth!)
Labiaplasty
Chin lipo
Gel nails
Individual lashes (no crazy spider lashes)
Tanning moisturiser every 2 weeks
Pedicure every 4.
Hair cut and highlighted every 3 months

Looking at that list I realise it's quite high maintenance. I'm curious as to what other posters have had done. And what has changed your life and can't live without?

Also, no need for the usual lot to come on and fall over themselves to tell us that they've had nothing done. I know it's not for everyone! :)

I’ve had a bread reduction, tummy tuck and thigh reduction.

I’ve also had my teeth whitened.

I pain my own toes (gel) every 4 weeks or so.

that’s it.

Always helps to cut down on the carbs!

Terrifying?

Christ, If you think it's terrifying you must've not had much life experience or seen an awful lot.

Immigrant from.a very poor country. Lived in several countries. Seen a lot of horrific things.
I stand by my comment.

@LoobyDoop2 there’s nothing so feminist as attacking women who spend their own time and money on cosmetic treatments as vacuous and accusing them of participating in the commodification of porn for having Botox or veneers, or in OPs case having medical procedures to improve quality of life or fix side effects of medical treatment.

Even more feminist to throw what you think are scathing insults on intelligence based on a male propagated stereotype of the type of women who have cosmetic procedures.

In case you missed the memo, even women you don’t approve of can have an informed and nuanced opinion on societal beauty standards whilst having personal aesthetic preferences. To equate someone’s intelligence and ability to understand issues as well as someone as important and clever as you, with their appearance, is giving good old fashioned handmaidening dressed up as feminism, hunni.

Round of applause for this!

You put it much better than I ever could have. Thank you :)

What's terrifying about a thread on cosmetic procedures?

Very tempted to look into invisiline or similar after a few comments on this thread, got quite a bit uneven gap that makes my face look even more uneven than it already is but didn’t realise you could get them as adults.

OP, wishing you well and thrilled you're in remission.

Am surprisingly low maintenance. A few veneers and a bridge, but that's about it in terms of tweakments/work. These alone were the greatest money I have ever spent. In terms of other things - pedicure once a month. Two to three times a year for a haircut, but that's on hold as I am regrowing my hair having lost it due to chemo. Stopped colouring during the pandemic, but prior to that, a colour whenever I had my hair cut. The odd facial, but mostly do them myself at home. Dental hygienist every six months. Still regrowing my eyebrows and eyelashes, but currently wearing glasses so that hide any patchiness. I wear contacts usually (and definitely pre-cancer) so couldn't have lash lengthening anyway.

I do worry chemo is accelerated ageing but at the same time, had had a premature menopause anyway, so at the very least, was spared the horror of a medical one too. I'm also totally flat-chested having had a double mastectomy. No plans or desire to have implants or reconstruction. Really happy with my new v. v. v. v. flat chest. It makes every piece of clothing ultra chic and can now wear backless and mega low-cut tops, things I could not wear pre cancer.

Interestingly, having been through chemo, having a change of body shape thrust upon me has made me far more confident in myself pre-cancer. Maybe it's because I'm older, or maybe it's just I don't care? I don't know, I feel much more content in myself. To be honest, I found losing my hair far harder than not having any hair, and although my hair is regrowing, it looks dreadful, but in six months time, it will be fine again, so that's something to look forward to. Like I said, I don't know. Cancer has changed me in ways I hadn't imagined and am thankful for.

Thank you for sharing this, and I'm wishing you well too and sending so much love and speedy recovery vibes!

Yes cancer and chemo change our bodies in ways we can't imagine. I still find little bits of me and think 'oh, well there goes that then!'
Excellent that you've managed to take such a good from a bad with the chic clothing and backless tops and dresses too. Your hair may grow back twice the thickness, mine certainly did. Every cloud and all that!

I really hope you're on the up now, cancer and chemo is a brutal game isn't it!

That's been the one thing for me (on my face) that has been my absolute favourite. They're painless and so easy. Invisalign is amazing!

@Santahoney I had a very lopsided face and fixed braces realigned it. Invisalign would not have been able to but this was 15 years ago so technique may have changed.

user263758988 · 19/12/2024 15:42

Ooooo fun!! I'm 36.

360 vaser lipo on tummy and back
Thigh lipo
Arm lipo
Botox - every 12 weeks:
Forehead
Crows feet
11s
Bunny nose
Gummy smile
Chin
Lip flip

Filler every 12 months:
Chin
Cheek
Temples
Those lines by the side of your nose toward your mouth

Invisalign and teeth whitening

Lashes every 3 weeks

Gel extensions every 3 weeks

Boob job is next on the list!

I’m 55. I used to have my hair dyed but not anymore. I have my hair cut every eight weeks or so. I sometimes had a pedicure (no more than once a year). I paint my own nails. I have a good skincare regime but do it all myself. I’ve never been interested in having anything “done”.

Frith2013 · 19/12/2024 15:53

None.

loveawineloveacrisp · 19/12/2024 15:56

Age 55. Brows are microbladed. Had classic lashes a couple of times and loved them but found upkeep too much. Gel nails once every 2 weeks and toes once a month in the summer. Apart from that, nothing. A fringe hides the frown lines and I have reasonable skin. Hair cut once every 10 weeks or so but no colour as I'm a natural blonde.

Frith2013 · 19/12/2024 15:57

Oops, I see you have included hair in the list.

I have it cut 2 or 3 times a year at the local college for £4. I've never dyed it, partly because it is black and I presume you would have to bleach it before dying it and even typing that is boring me!

I'm 49 and have just this year developed a line across my forehead and I have a few white hairs. I think that is probably normal for my age.

I also pluck out my single chin hair when I remember.

Thank you! Am actually adding a further three scars on Monday, just praying they're as neat as my mastectomy and lumpectomy scars! Seriously though, am fortunate on the scale of things, so that's been enough to carry me through an otherwise traumatic experience. I found my premature menopause far harder to deal with in terms of the emotional and physical effect on my body. As for my hair, ha. Pre-cancer, it was already super thick, it's grown back even thicker. Regrettably, it's super curly (which I expected) and too short to blow dry straight. Am living for the day I can properly abandon my headscarf, reach for the hair dryer and round brush and straighten the hell out of it 😂

Cancer and its treatment is brutal, on every single level - emotionally, mentally and physically. I have the upmost respect for anyone whom has been through it too.

Lastly, another post reminded me that I did try a lip flip a few years ago. It didn't work. I do sometimes think about getting a tiny bit of filler in my top lip to smooth out the lines above my upper lip, but yeah, post-chemo has made me not want to inject anything into my body unless there's a medical reason to do so.

DearGoldBee · 19/12/2024 16:03

Breast augmentation at 25 (considering implant removal next year).
Botox every 6 months
Hair cut and coloured every 10-12 weeks
Pedicure every 4 weeks
Composite bonding/regular whitening
Hydrafacials maybe 4 times a year

Things i have tried once but haven't repeated:
Lip filler (didn't suit me)
Nose filler (did make a difference but not enough to justify regular treatments)

Tinytigertail · 19/12/2024 16:03

Hair cut and colored every 6-8 weeks
Occasional Gel nails
Botox 3 times a year
Pedicure twice a year
Eyebrow wax and thread every month

Fairly low maintenance IMO

burntheleaves · 19/12/2024 16:14

noobiedoobie · 19/12/2024 09:58

I'm 44. In 2022 I did six months of heavy weight lifting with a personal trainer. It transformed my body - my neck was rock solid with no loose skin, my cellulite was gone.

My Other thing is face yoga. If you good it there are some genuinely transformative photos. I figured it's like saving £1.50 a day a year for 10 mins of time compared to doing botox twice a year.

I've also had scelerotherapy on my legs. It removes spider veins.

Being strong counts more longevity wise. And muscle is free apart from gym membership.

Why did you stop weightlifting. The benefits will be all gone by now

GoingUpUpUp · 19/12/2024 16:25

Haircut every 6-7 weeks. I’ve never dyed it but wouldn’t be averse once I start going grey.
Gel nails every 3 weeks.
Pedicure probably twice a year.
Eyebrows threaded every couple of months.
Specialist facial once a month.

I’ve also had LVL done once before a holiday.

No judgment from me on others doing it but personally I can’t bear the thought of injecting stuff in my face. I’m nearly 40 and don’t see this changing.

I had Invisalign last year and definitely do not regret it. It is definitely a faff, having to take them out anytime you want to eat etc. and you have to wear a retainer at night forever. But for me it was worth it. I'm not bothered about other aspects of my appearance like wrinkles but really really hated my teeth.

That isn't me criticising people who care about other aspects, I think a lot of people have a "thing" that bothers them. Someone else with my exact face may not have minded the teeth, but maybe wouldn't like the nose/skin/eyes or whatever.

DramaAlpaca · 19/12/2024 17:24

I'm 60, very low maintenance.

I had braces as a teen, then as an adult composite bonding to close a gap. I get highlights done three or four times a year, and a trim every six weeks. I tidy up my own brows, and I epilate wherever necessary. I do my own nails.

I got asked if I use botox recently because I'm relatively unlined for my age, but I never have. I've vaguely considered filler because I have marionette lines starting to appear and I hate them, but I'm far too scared of something going wrong to risk it.

verysmellyjelly · 19/12/2024 21:07

Thanks so much for your reply, OP! I hugely appreciate it. It's incredibly encouraging to hear from a "real person" who isn't trying to sell anything (or alternatively, scare me off). Really good of you to take the time to type out such a detailed response to my question, and I want you to know I'm grateful! Sorry to see you've had some nasty responses from a few posters. I think it's great that you can look and feel your best Smile

One of my colleagues is having treatment just now and even now the difference is amazing-definitely worth looking into

I forgot I had braces in my teens. Should I have counted them?😂

Wednesdaysotherchild · 20/12/2024 10:52

Nothing! I trimmed my hair this year but that’s it.

mindutopia · 20/12/2024 10:58

I’m 44 and absolutely none.

I have had reconstructive surgery for cancer though and will probably need at least another 1 or 2. Definitely not an improvement though, Iooks shit not better. But I’m grateful to be not dead.

VelvetWildflower · 20/12/2024 11:05

Botox
0.75ml lip filler once a year just in my top lip
Box dye at home every 2 months

Pretty low maintenance here but I wouldn't rule out future surgeries if I can ever afford them (tummy tuck post-extreme weight loss and a breast augmentation).
