Children: ‘No Christmas, Please!’ YAY!

PoliticalPossum · 18/12/2024 06:25

So, my teenagers confirmed last night they don’t want to do Christmas! They just want to spend the day with family, relaxing, eating good food, playing with the dog and watching old films - no roast, no presents, no forced interactions with family they don’t like.

Not sure whether to laugh, because honestly just eating nibbles, fruit and salads all day whilst we watch Star Wars and DH loses so badly at scrabble he tosses the tiles across the table again sounds amazing, or to cry tears of joy because they actually agreed on something together (honestly, it’s the first time I can remember them ever agreeing)

Not even anything to really comment on here. I just wanted to post and say how happy I am that we all get a day off and can actually just relax without any pressure! Obviously did not say this to them, just nodded and said ‘oh that sounds lovely’ but I am so pleased!

Oh it has been fun, but it has really made me miss my granny. When she was alive, she loved drinking sherry and talking about smutty books and I wish we had another Christmas with her. She wouldn't have minded salad either.

Oh my God, I've read the others but PLEASE point me in the direction of someone's husband coming on her homework?!

Yes, absolutely need to read jizz homework!

WinterCrow · 18/12/2024 12:16

I'll tell you how sad I am - I just tried to google it.

Tbf I'm ill in bed, bored and fed up.

The absolute best part of this story is the two widowed octogenarians drunk on sherry and smutty novels.
I think I love them both already and would like a whole tv series based on their week at OP’s house.
RIP Dame Maggie Smith, she would have been perfect as one of the granny winos.

I would definitely watch this! We need Dame Judi Dench for the second widowed octogenarian.

I think it got lifted (tragically).

T rex arms was pretty enjoyable but Husband's angry emissions on university assignment did set the bar pretty high for me. I've seen little since that could top such giddy heights.

RetroTotty · 18/12/2024 12:19

Jizz Homework could be the name of a bookish but fun PI.

ElusiveBlackTiger · 18/12/2024 12:20

This is the sort of thing that feels great in the lead up, and probably fine to start off with - but at a certain point I would be sat their in my PJs with my salad feeling a little flat and underwhelmed.

Unless you are in a hot country?

Hi all,
This poster appears to have de-registered, from which you must take what you will, but we are leaving the thread for the moment as it looks like fun.

Merry Christmas, Hope!

PLEASE people read at the least the last couple of pages before moaning at us for being mean to the OP.

Lifeomars · 18/12/2024 12:20

sounds great, I have never been a fan of the traditional Christmas and have had some utter horrors that have reduced me to tears. In fact I would spend the lead up to quite a few Christamasess dreading and feariing the whole thing. As the years have gone by I have stopped doing the traditional meal and we eat our favourite things instead. I do like giving and receiving gitfs and putting up decorations but tbh I find this time of year difficult and I look for ways to reduce the stress and workload.

Stunning thread.

Absolute complete and utter fabrication but still very enjoyable and tongue in cheek.

A Christmas salad, teens that don't want presents, perverted octogenarians and a timeline that is all over the place.

Wonderful!

Hahaha. Knew it. You're all IDGAF, getting sloshed at your desks and posting under your pseudo-usernames.

(Merry Christmas)

There were a couple of long going trolls back in the day, Little Miss Norland Nanny with all her riches and jet setting life was enjoyable for a while. Phillys and her Second Coming child. If the op hadn’t fudge the numbers so badly, she could’ve had a good crack at being ‘that poster’, splitting everyone down the middle of ‘you do you op, don’t mind the haters’ and ‘are you on crack?’. We all love a bun fight don’t we.

WinterCrow · 18/12/2024 12:28

If the OP has de-registered, maybe they'll be back under a new email/username shortly to give us another Christmas treat.

Be alert!

I am genuinely giggling at just the title. Gutted it's gone! I was hoping for some amusing reading with my afternoon lemsip, but nevermind! Going to watch re-runs of League of Gentlemen and browse the Classics section for any gems!!

RetroTotty · 18/12/2024 12:34

Giddy I recommend the Christmas Market one in classics. Seasonal and hilarious

Kurain · 18/12/2024 12:35

Op is obviously adopted duh! And before you ask the orphanage probably had no fresh produce so that’s why she has such an attachment to salad.

Enjoy your radish and lettuce, OP.

Ahhh perfect, thank you! I feel all festive now after a good chat about Christmas salads. Nothing puts you in the mood more than dangling lettuce leaf decor!

It sounds great! I think my best christmas day was 2020 when the lockdown restrictions meant I couldn't travel to family. Me and my "bubble" friend spent the day together, we did have a roast dinner but just played boardgames, went for a walk, had lots of cheese and wine and the wood burner on all day. It was bliss.

Same here! It was actually just me and DP for the first time ever, as even my stepson who usually lives with us had chosen to live with his mum during the pandemic due to my partner's job. It was bliss. So chilled, just nice food, trashy TV, and lots of cuddles!

Two teenagers. Yes. I’m 31.

They are the result of a ‘foreign adoption’ from DH birth country. I can’t have children. Not that this is anything to do with the thread…

You’ve been hosting MIL and DM at Christmas for 20+ years so you started hosting them when you were 10???? I think someone is telling lies maybe 🤔

Lobstercrisps · 18/12/2024 12:38

Jingleberryalltheway · 18/12/2024 06:54

Do your ternagers teally want no presents?

My teen DD has refused Xmas presents for several years. Which I absolutely respect. She knows she can change her mind any time.

Twiglets1 · 18/12/2024 07:42

They do if you eat enough of them.

Username checks out 😄

Kurain · 18/12/2024 12:48

When I was a teen (15 or so years ago) my siblings and I forgo having presents. My parents once successful business ran into trouble due to a large multi national opening up around the corner. We had bailiffs and everything. Teens are capable of not being brats re presents.

Are you suggesting that @PoliticalPossum is lying, @UpUpUpU?

If you don't believe the OP, you should report it rather than going in for slightly disguised troll hunting.

that’s exactly what i’m suggesting!

but why would i report when i’ve found the evolution of this thread so entertaining?!
