If you used to buy the Now albums what number was your first one?

33 for me, brought on double cassette from good old Woolies.

I know they are viewed by many as being deeply uncool but individual albums were way too expensive for me as a pre-teen. I think they featured on all my teen Xmas lists too and I remember the adverts with Mark Goodier doing the voice over.

I still have a very soft spot for them, even though when I occasionally pick one up for a nosy at I have no idea who 99% of the tracklists are, but I don't think I'm their target audience anymore anyway!

Double figures.

HÆLTHEPAIN · 23/11/2024 20:43

The original on vinyl IIRC.

Isitfridayyetsophie · 23/11/2024 20:43

I think mine was Now 44, with Britney Spears hit me baby one more time on it! Pretty sure Shania Twain was track 2 ! I used to love the now albums but generally found disc 2 not as good

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · 23/11/2024 20:43

@MonsterMunched that narrows it down a bit 😂

It didn’t have a number because it was the first one. On vinyl. Bought it in Woolworths. Got number 2 on tape 😊

Comedycook · 23/11/2024 20:44

Now 24

Off to google the track list...

RebeccaDecember · 23/11/2024 20:44

My Dad has the full collection from Now 1 to today 😊

RosieLeaf · 23/11/2024 20:46

I was exactly the same! Looking back at the tracklists there were some great tracks on disk 2 but maybe I just had to age mature to appreciate them.

Now 57 I think - track one was DJ Sammy Heaven and had the Sugarbabes Round Round. Do they still release them? What number did it reach?

Nitgel · 23/11/2024 20:47

I and 2 on LP

Gettingannoyednow · 23/11/2024 20:47

Had Michelle Gayle and Ultimate Kaos and Pato Banton....

Also had Neneh Cherry and Sophie B Hawkins and Lisa Loeb.

Had them all in a row from 7-16

IceStationZebra · 23/11/2024 20:47

Now 29 for me, it had Saturday Night by Whigfield on it. I was 9 and wanted to practise the dance.

It actually had some excellent bangers on it which I discovered later.

I’ve just been googling the old now cds and I’m looking at them thinking disc 2 looked pretty good, not sure why I always thought they were rubbish. I’ll agree it must be down to maturing…!

I worked with someone who owned every NOW album and had never bought or listened to any other music in her life (she was approaching 50)

BibbityBobbityToo · 23/11/2024 20:48

I had 'Brit Awards 1991' as my first compilation. Queen 'Innuendo' was the first track IIRC.

Didn't start with Now until mid 90's, can't remember the album number now though.
