If you used to buy the Now albums what number was your first one?

33 for me, brought on double cassette from good old Woolies.

I know they are viewed by many as being deeply uncool but individual albums were way too expensive for me as a pre-teen. I think they featured on all my teen Xmas lists too and I remember the adverts with Mark Goodier doing the voice over.

I still have a very soft spot for them, even though when I occasionally pick one up for a nosy at I have no idea who 99% of the tracklists are, but I don't think I'm their target audience anymore anyway!

The first one that didn't even have a number. I am old.

JumpstartMondays · 23/11/2024 21:47

Now 13 on cassette 🤣

I've still got my Now 27 CD 🤭

Totallymessed · 23/11/2024 21:48

Does anyone else remember Neil Tennant (from the Pet Shop Boys) being a journalist for Smash Hits? And the excitement when he made his first appearance on Tops of the Pops!

LillyLeaf · 23/11/2024 21:48

Now 29, it introduced me to Blur and Oasis.

It did! I may have to go off and have a listen... 😃

If you sing along you MUST do it in a Welsh accent (assuming you aren't actually Welsh), it's the law!

3 on tape!

Rockandgrohl · 23/11/2024 21:51

Now 35, Christmas 1996. I got a CD player along with the now album, spice girls spice and no doubt tragic kingdom…my first Christmas as a non-believer and I thought my parents were the coolest parents ever!

I remember when he interviewed Madonna before she was famous. It seemed so unlikely when he became a pop star

Was it the cd player with the tape player at the front and a built in radio? I think everyone in my friendship group got this as their present during one 90s Christmas.

Yep that’s the one…an Argos special I think! I used to listen to Atlantic 252 on the radio when I wasn’t blasting my new cds on it!!

Sherrystrull · 23/11/2024 22:01

Omg Atlantic 252! I remember it being the station to listen to!

WhimsicalGubbins76 · 23/11/2024 22:03

I think it was now 26, on double cassette. I remember constantly pausing the tape deck to write down the lyrics to Two Princes-spin doctors,
To this day, I still haven’t got a bloody clue what they say in the chorus

I used to insist on calling it by its full name 🤣 Longwave Radio, Atlantic 252 🤣

doodleschnoodle · 23/11/2024 22:06

Somewhere round about 40. Absolute bangers looking at the track listings, although interspersed with some 'indie' songs that I didn't appreciate in those days and would always skip!

I was obsessed with Stranded by Lutricia McNeal!

I remember that!

My first Now album was number 4. On LP.

God I'm old 😂

Yep, Boyzone always seemed to find themselves there during the mid 90s!

Now 6, double LP, gatefold sleeve.
It was way back when, the biggest selling of the now albums.
