What's the most ridiculous thing you've even been accused of?

Just that really, Something so obviously nonsense that you couldn't believe anyone would take it seriously.

For me without doubt, it was when my parents thought I'd robbed a bank.
I was 17 and at school at the time of the robbery......

To this day I'm not entirely convinced they believe I wasn't involved 🙄

When I left my ex-husband he accused me of being a lesbian who only got together with him in order to have a baby (couldn't be leaving because of the abuse now could I?!)

A Dad cornered me in the playground of my DC's Primary school to accuse me of destroying his marriage and breaking up his family by "putting ideas in his wifes head". I only knew her to say hello to.
I said I had no idea what he was on about but it sounded like she was doing the right thing.

when I was in my late teens, my best friend and I hadn’t been getting on as well. She’d made friends with a couple of girls who were complete cows and she’d been quite unkind to me. I’d put up with it for a while but we met in the pub one day and she said that one of her mates had said that I called her fat. Something I wouldn’t ever do. I just looked at her and then walked out. I still can’t believe she’d ever believed them as I would never have said that.

The same thing happened to me about a different long term chronic illness I have to live with.
My family member spread her nasty rumour far and wide and I’m still shunned by some people for it.
It’s horrible.

What an asshole! I hope you have gone no contact with her.

Arrived at work one night and was accosted by a colleague demanding to know why I had ignored her on the train in. I replied I hadn’t seen her, which she refused to believe as she was sitting opposite and had tried talking to me.
after some digging I realised she had seen my twin sister, on her way home who had no clue why this woman kept trying to talk to her.

this happened about 15 years ago and we still laugh about it!

  1. When I was 8 my mum accused me of trying to murder her..I spilt some water she tripped on and was convinced I'd set it all up and purposefully spilt water to kill her..
  2. My mum accused me of killing her pet..called me in tears how could I do it and why would I do that to her..100% convinced. All over phone as I wasn't even in the country at the time 😅😅

I do wonder..its all very odd and no one mentions or acknowledges it. You'll be left thinking your insane if you question anything 😅

Yes I have.
She used that against me too and told people it was because she had exposed my lie!! She’s evil.
It has been really horrible and painful.
I have to live with my illness and some people believing her lies about me.

Petitchat · 20/11/2024 12:57

When I was 15, I was so unhappy at home that I took an overdose. Thankfully friends took me to hospital where I had my stomach pumped.

A few days later my mum did the same thing. I visited her in hospital and asked her why she'd done it?
She answered "because you did"

Then dhe snapped "you didn't tell me they put a tube down your throat, did you"

After years of abuse and weirdness I finally went NC at aged 45.

Absolute Bliss.......

Accused of having an affair...with my husband. An ex colleague of us both had missed the memo that we'd been married 12 years and jumped to some conclusions when they saw us in a restaurant together.

PepperoniPizzas · 20/11/2024 15:51

@VegTrug Yes. That and having other views that don't match their extreme racist beliefs.

I was working at a child care center in the infant room. The manager told me one of the parents found a poo filled diaper in the baby's diaper bag when she got home. They were assuming I had put it there. Anyone with any sense at all would never do such a thing. I had been a child care teacher for 30 years but had only been at this center for 6 months. Then they had the nerve to ask me to sign a paper indicating my guilt. I refused and quit on the spot. I think they had a grudge against me because when they wanted me to take over a class full time I declined because I wanted to stay part time.
