I’m scared now I’ve realised this

I was thinking that the US public wouldn’t vote for Trump now that it is so apparent he is such a fascist. It’s terrifying to realise that they already know that and that is why they are going to vote for him.
I’m scared for the world.

The negative hype around Trump is utterly crazed, he's not the devil incarnate his opponents make him out to be (well, no more so than they are!).

I can't muster any enthusiasm for American politics, it's such an insular and uninspiring place.

I've been entertained by Trump's ridiculous dance moves at least. And the guy's been shot at. I hope he wins, just to piss his highfalutin opponents off.

I’m not a Trump fan however he is the lesser of 2 evils.
Also he upsets all the right people 🤣

G5000 · 29/10/2024 19:13

I really don't get the 'Oh he will let states decide if women should get healthcare or just die, no biggie!' argument. Absurd.

Hitler was a fascist.
Look what he did.
No more anti Semitic rants from you please.
Get an education and read some history.

Yes hitler was but so have mnay others it’s not me that needs to read history it’s you

Silly question but hasn’t trump been proven to have broken the law? And how is it then legal for him to be president again?

Because it's not against the law.
He could be in jail, awaiting execution, and be the candidate.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 29/10/2024 19:16

It was clear for a long time (Biden) had no idea where he was or who he was addressing, very painful to watch

This is sadly true, @spuddy4, and there are many Democrats who'll never forget it or forgive the party for the fact that, even now, he's still President

It bears saying that Trump's no Cicero either, but it's not "their" party who nominated him, so those who choose to stay home out of disgust aren't likely to be a loss to the Republicans

They may be to the Kamala and the Democrats though ...

Jaxhog · 29/10/2024 19:19

KizzyDora · 29/10/2024 15:57

Surely people are voting for the party they feel has the best polices and not actually just for Trump?

Sadly no. It's become a cult of Trump, and he's effectively destroyed the republican party.

I really don't get the 'Oh he will let states decide if women should get healthcare or just die, no biggie!' argument. Absurd.

Particularly since the Reps/Trump still want to dismantle healthcare. It's astounding that while in office he did nothing to increase and broaden healthcare, keeps talking about making it better, never explains how and those that need it most still support him even though Biden has made changes for better access. (Insulin, for one)

Absolutely that’s why some old school republicans have been sitting with Kamala Harris dick chaney daughter Back in the day I remember American politicians being anti Russia etc but now you have trump cosying up with putin he’s no patriot. He took the piss out of veterans the guy who said he had foot spurs so he couldn’t be drafted in Vietnam . I am British but man alive

Really funny no matter how many times right wing people like yourself will try to convince me it’s interesting that you never ever pick up on the point that when Donald Trump speaks he cannot even say proper sentences half the shit he says is like Gobblygook doesn’t even make sense. Actually, America was a big laughing stock under Donald Trump most people outside of America think what the fuck are Americans doing it? How can they even think he’s viable to be a president?

Quite a few of us inside America felt the same way.

i moved here in 2018 😶

Oodiks · 29/10/2024 19:01

No, it wasn't fine, he completely screwed up the Covid response and sent Covid test machines to his buddy Putin.

He said he wouldn't send PPE to blue states.

Harris has campaigned appallingly, even at this late stage she is often doing one event a day. She is a poor campaigner in general - look at the 2020 Dem. presidential primary.
There was no primary for the Democratic leadership.

The number of Americans who ‘think the country is going in the wrong direction’ is at an all time high.
She fails to articulate policy and has no ready answer for what separates her from the current administration of which she is Vice President.

She is a far, far left candidate - look at her voting record. You may like that but it’s foolish to think others won’t object. It’s foolish to think interviews with her saying she would fund genital surgery for illegal immigrants in prison won’t have an impact, that supporting legislation that ties federal funding to letting boys and men play in women’s sport and be given access to women’s bathrooms doesn’t turn people away.

You can call people names for not voting for her or you can look at why - and who - the people are who aren’t supporting her. The cost of living is up, life expectancy is down, the knowledge their children’s lives won’t reach the same standard as their own. The Democrats move away from being a party for workers to being a party of the technocratic elites. (See fundraising).

The Harris campaign has fundraised 10s of millions more than Trump’s. They have an incredibly effective on the ground team, mainstream media is on her side, she benefits from running against a polarising opposition figure - and yet still she fails to appeal to people. Maybe instead of blaming people for not voting for her and calling them names, look at why.

Noisylass · 29/10/2024 19:28

Watched YouTube jubilee did middle ground democrat voters all seem educated republican voters seem dumb and stupid. Doesn’t matter what I see they can’t argue for shit it’s usually oh well it upsets the right people. They don’t know policies they just like emoti9ns and sound bites. Same over in this country you know when they ring lbc who you think they vote for . Reform voter and some Tory types really cannot argue their points at all

You are totally wrong calling her far far far left. In California when she prosecuted there were many I have watched videos of progressive types that never saw her as far left . That’s just Donald trump talking points. She’s for fracking now she’s a gun owner ffs her rallies have had record numbers the last one she did in Texas with Beyoncé got thirty thousand people who are people not technocrats all sorts. She’s middle class back ground Donald trump is elite his mate Elon musk a billionaire yet you say f all about that

Moonmelodies · 29/10/2024 19:35

Many Americans will be voting against Kamala for the same reasons many people in the UK voted against Sunak - they're fed up with the cost of living, soaring energy prices, migrant problems, crime etc, and want to punish the incumbent leadership.

AnneShirley18 · 29/10/2024 19:35

Today’s episode of Newsround was hard to watch. He has so much support from children. Indoctrination starts young.

If our economy was anywhere as decent right now as what Biden has been doing for America, we would be absolutely bloody laughing because actually things have gone down. The employment record is at an all-time low and they are doing really well. It’s just a lot of negative has come from Donald Trump if you look at the actual facts it’s actually a lot better then what trump says. I have seen figures

Yes. She’s also an appalling lawyer. Totally incompetent and unfair.

Yes but now they know he is a rapist and a fascist and they still support him.

"...and a fascist"

That's interesting. How do you "know" that he is a "fascist"?

Serious question btw.

No, not incompetent. Make a case and quote case law. Don't toss out words without backing it up, please.

He has said enough to make it pretty clear plus one of his colleagues said he was a fascist recently

If only, @TheWinterWillWash
If Trump does win - and it's by no means a certainty - I've not the least doubt that MN will explode, just as it did after Brexit and Labour's dreadful loss under Corbyn, though whether anyone will be interested in the why remains to be seen

This has been quite a topic debated on various programs in which his views, his own words, are shown as fascist/fascist leaning. People that worked closely with him have said this recently as well.

So anyone who votes for a party I don't support is "dumb and stupid"?

I would suggest that this is probably not a good stance to take if you wish to win over people to your point of view.
