I’m scared now I’ve realised this

I was thinking that the US public wouldn’t vote for Trump now that it is so apparent he is such a fascist. It’s terrifying to realise that they already know that and that is why they are going to vote for him.
I’m scared for the world.

Gender refers to the characteristics of women, men, girls and boys that are socially constructed. This includes norms, behaviours and roles associated with being a woman, man, girl or boy, as well as relationships with each other. As a social construct, gender varies from society to society and can change over time.

Gender is just personality.

Gender is just personality.

Not at all -it also incorporates a variety of regressive sexual stereotypes.

Not at all -it also incorporates a variety of regressive sexual stereotypes.

People’s personalities incorporate a variety of regressive sex stereotypes.

It’s when people think a definition of something that includes regressive sex stereotypes is a meaningful way of categorising people for legal and social reasons that’s it becomes a problem.

Oh, good. Are we back to talking about people's genitals again?

Meanwhile, apologies if this has already been posted...

Oh?

Caster Semenya is a man with internal testes

No. Not a vagina.

He doesn’t have a vagina. Males with 5 alpha reductase deficiency don’t have a vagina.

Genitalia can look ambiguous with a pseudovaginal perineoscrotal hypospadias.

Oh, well if Semenya calls his underdeveloped male genitalia due to an enzyme defect a “vagina” then that’s what it is, isn’t it?

Semenya might think he has a vagina but he doesn’t. He is probably doing the lay person thing where they call their vulva a vagina. Semenya’s external genitalia may resemble a vulva, but it isn’t a vulva either, it’s under developed male external genitalia.

One post.

Caster Semenya is a male with a DSD.

I thought you were referring to the posts about the definition of woman being changed to include male personalities but rather than answer that you've picked up one post to change the subject. OK.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 03/11/2024 21:15

Erm... have you read the previous few pages?

So will you answer my question. Why should the word woman change from adult human female to any one who self declares according to stereotypes and notions of gender?

Do you see any problems for adult human females in this co-opting of language and spaces?

What has made you put male personalities above female biological realities?

Those were copied from multiple posts. The one obsessed poster, perhaps. I wasn't really paying attention, but this thread just returns to it like flies to shit.

Oh! I remember you. You're back! After being asked to stop derailing the thread with your favourite topic, several times. Carry on.

Nice choice of language.

So why do you think that the word we have used across the ages for adult human female should now include any man who self declares 'gender' on the notion of his stereotypical ideas of what a woman ought to be?

Can you see this might be offensive to adult human females?

Why is this 'appropriation' ok but other appropriation is not, such as race appropriation or age appropriation?

nolongersurprised · 03/11/2024 21:30

Mumtobabyhavoc · 02/11/2024 22:40

And a vagina.

This is the first post that mentioned external genitalia, and it was made by a gender-woo cultist.

Funny how the replies to this were quoted, but not the original 🙄.

It's a diversion tactic.

Thanks for finding the original post. For people who believe that sex is important it is not all about genitals at all.

I bet no one answers my questions about appropriation.

See you can't answer.

No one can ever answer why men's personalities should be considered more important the lived reality of women.

I now think it’s an AGP male’s sexual rights movement, that has swept up troubled teens - mainly girls - in its aim to gain legitimacy.

The ultimate goal is for access to female spaces. They don’t want theirs spaces - where’s the fun in that?

NotBadConsidering · 03/11/2024 21:38

It’s not “obsessive” to correct egregious errors of understanding about males with DSDs like Caster Semenya. It’s been 5 years since Semenya’s diagnosis of 5 alpha reductase deficiency has been uncovered and people still pretend he’s a woman. It needs correcting every single time.

Yes, there is a narrow definition of sex as there are only two.

Genders - whatever. As infinite as there personalities

Who told you to ignore me?

If the Democrat supporters on this thread are going to say that Trump is delusional and part of a cult then perhaps they should be mindful that 'those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones'.

I'm no fan of Trump and I hope that Harris wins but failing to answer reasonable questions about what has led you to believe that male personalities should trump female lived reality really doesn't help your cause.

Yes sadly I think this is right.

What I can't get my head round, assuming that the posters we are engaging with are female, is what has conditioned some women, including Harris to lose all ability to critically think?

As a society women have been conditioned to 'be kind' to males. You'd think with all the Epstein stuff women wouldn't fall for it. Yet here we are.

what has led you to believe that male personalities should trump female lived reality

I don't believe what you've just accused me of believing. But I don't think this thread is the place for this topic to be so dominating.

But I particularly don't believe that men should dictate women's reproductive rights, which given this is lifechanging, with forced unwanted pregnancies, and life and death for some, is an important part of the election and one of the reasons women are out and voting in such numbers to get it turned around.

So do you believe that there are times when females should have sex based spaces? For example hospital wards, rape crisis centres and sports, to be clear these spaces should be free from all males, including trans women?

On your second point I totally agree, I am disappointed that Obama didn't keep his election promise to make reproductive rights a federal rather than state matter. It was an open goal for Trump and the Christian right. I hope that if Harris gets in she will be able to buck the trend and will have the constitutional power to do what the Democrats ought to have done when it was easier. I'm not sure how easy that will be.
