I’m scared now I’ve realised this

I was thinking that the US public wouldn’t vote for Trump now that it is so apparent he is such a fascist. It’s terrifying to realise that they already know that and that is why they are going to vote for him.
I’m scared for the world.

I have the right to post where I want, you can scroll on.

Trying to shut women up about things that impact women because it's inconvenient to you, isn't a great look you know.

You have been banging on about the same thing in 40-odd posts.

You can speak up as much as you want in another thread on this topic, of which there are many. Very many, already. And yet here you are, acting as if you are the lone voice on the subject.

It is an enormous derail. Multiple posters have asked for it to stop.

Well I can see the pp is replying to others picking up on the topic and that's what happens on public forums

You can't order the pp to post as you want, pick up on another topic of your own or scroll it's not hard.

I'm not the lone voice on the subject! There are several others also making the same/ similar.

I'll admit I'm vocal because it is an issue that impacts so many women.

It shouldn't be pushed to one side because you don't want to talk about it.

So no thanks I'll continue posting as I see fit.

I'll reiterate trying to shut women up who don't fit the Democrat narrative is a really bad look.

I mean the lone voice on the subject of trans incursions into women's spaces - which there are literally already hundreds of threads on MN. Not on this thread.

You're not the thread police.

Why is it that you don't think that women who care about female sports should have a voice exactly?

lightandstars · 01/11/2024 12:20

I see you have some comprehension problems. I have said (more than once) that I am talking about the prevalence of this topic on MN. You seem to think it is an important topic to raise/bang on about on this thread - as if it is never discussed by women or on MN. There are HUNDREDs of threads on this topic.

By all means, do continue to derail the thread. As is your right.

How is it a derail?

OP asks a question/ makes a point about being scared about Trump becoming President.

I agree it is a scary prospect.

However I acknowledge that women in the USA may not be happy with what Biden/ Harris have done to Title 9 which is seen by many women as an attack on women's rights. I have said that the Democrats would do well to consider why it might be that some voters don't want them re-elected rather than just flinging mud at Trump.

That is not a derail because it is 100% relevant to the topic.

Where people have raised counter points (generally along the line of but Trump is bad - which is a point I agree with btw) I am simply pointing out that I know that but voters still have the right to be anti the Democrats position on identity politics and the impact that has on women and girls, (and children wrt the fact that they follow WPATH due to the agenda of the health secretary - this wasn't raised by me btw it was raised by another poster).

So as these points are relevant to the topic of the thread this is, by definition, not a derail.

The fact that you want to shut me up likely means that you don't give a stuff about women's rights or sports.

Sorry but I do and I will not shut up.

Wow.

out of interest; what is your education level?

I happen to not want Trump to win either and I tend to vote for more right wing parties. But what I hate is that all too often, people on the left resort to slinging insults like implying someone must be thick if they don’t share the same opinions. It’s so childish.

Agree apparently I have 'comprehension problems'.

I mean it's no way to win an argument.

poetryandwine · 01/11/2024 12:32

Yes I have heard their voices and I do care. But there are so many issues, and this one is not life or death. One can prioritise in good faith without writing off the nonemergency issues

There is a great deal of care I think the NHS should be providing (let’s stipulate ‘to those who are eligible’ in order not to divert) that it is currently unable to do. If forced to choose, getting everyone with suspected life threatening illness seen in a timely manner would be my top priority. Does that mean I don’t care about endometriosis, migraine (I suffer), childhood diseases, psychological trauma, etc? Hardly.

It’s the same thing: a choice is forced. Overhauling the Democratic party and reorganising the NHS are both for after the emergency.

TooBigForMyBoots · 01/11/2024 12:33

lifeturnsonadime · 01/11/2024 11:38

Well it feels like a fact on this thread and on previous labour v conservatives ones.

The response 99.9% but the Tory's / Trump are worse.

I KNOW!

It's the fact that women are prepared to settle for some pretty awful anti woman / anti child policies rather than let their politicians know that they are dissatisfied. I just don't get it. These things are too important. The left is getting away with too much because they point the finger and say 'at least we're not as bad'.

Your response - you'd rather a rapist?

No I'd rather the left do the right thing by women ! It's not rocket science.

99.9%? More hyperbole.🙄

I'd rather the right did the right thing by women and not picked a criminal rapist as their presidential nominee. After all, if they had chosen someone decent, they'd be well on the road to victory given the dissatisfaction in the Biden presidency.🤷‍♀️

Yes I can see this but I just hold no hope that the Democrats will do anything about women's rights as they are so entrenched in identity politics that it's almost impossible.

Also they will feel they have the mandate to continue if they are voted in without realising that voters are dissatisfied on this. During the UK elections I was urging people who were going to vote Labour to lobby their MPs about preserving women's rights. I don't know if there is any sense that this is happening or whether it is being brushed under the carpet. I hope it is happening.

As I've said upthread many times, what an awful place to be a woman, especially a woman who has worked hard at sport and may be relying on a college scholarship.

Yes, and I agree, it is an emergency.
A rejection of a deranged demagogue should be an easy choice.
