I’m scared now I’ve realised this

I was thinking that the US public wouldn’t vote for Trump now that it is so apparent he is such a fascist. It’s terrifying to realise that they already know that and that is why they are going to vote for him.
I’m scared for the world.

"And if I were a woman in the USA I'd be between a rock and hard place, neither side has the interests of women at heart, the democrats care more about the men who say they are women, if they didn't they wouldn't have destroyed women's sports."

Have women's sports 'been destroyed'? 😂

Or have you had your head turned by watching a few too many of the thousands of transphobic ads the Republicans are currently flooding social media with?

Genuinely staggered that you're blaming the Democrats for the Trump/GOP engineered trashing of women's reproductive rights across half of the US.

You people have no shame. None.

I have a daughter who is hoping to be professional in her sport Izimbra, I'm watching what's happening to female athletes in the US with horror.

I can't help that you don't understand the damage being done by the removal of Title 9.

Scholarships are being lost with the valuable educations attached to that because females are speaking out.

It is not anti trans at all. It is pro-women.

If you are so ideologically blinded that you can't see that women are being harmed by these things then good grief, I really can't help you.

lifeturnsonadime · 31/10/2024 14:12

And on the subject of reproductive rights,

It is factually correct that Obama reneged his election promise to codify.

It wasn't important enough to the democrats to prevent the Republicans from being able to overturn Roe v Wade when they had the opportunity and they KNEW that this was likely to happen, yet it's important enough now. Right oh!

lifeturnsonadime · 31/10/2024 14:21

You people have no shame. None.

This is the trouble with party politics. Anyone who points out anything that is wrong with the Democrats is presumed to be pro-Trump.

No one actually is prepared to enter into a conversation regarding why it might be that some women are despairing with the democrats for their anti women's rights stance wrt identity politics.

I'm a naturally left leaning woman. I have no skin in this game and am looking at it neutrally.

Yet I am 'You People' for pointing out facts about the Democrats.

So we are allowed to point out facts about the Republicans but can't say anything about the reasons why women might feel disenfranchised.

Unfuckingbelievable.

That's how politicians get away with so much shit. They claim to be righteous and beyond criticism. They should never be beyond criticism. Never ever.

izimbra · 31/10/2024 14:25

Some facts:

Only about 0.5 to 1% of the population describe themselves as 'transgender'.

Out of that 0.5 to 1% about 1/3 are transgender women, 1/3 are transgender men, and 1/3 describe themselves as 'gender non-conforming'.

"Privacy laws make it tough to identify the exact number of transgender athletes competing in public school sports, but researcher and medical physicist Joanna Harper estimates the number can't exceed 100 nationwide."

Something you describe as literally having 'destroyed women's sport'. 🙄

Anyway, good chance that Trump will win next week, and transgender people will be banned from all areas of public life. Possibly bullied and legislated out of existence. And you can carry on referring to transgender women as 'men who say they're women' in mixed company and not have to worry that anyone who's offended by your comment will feel free to say anything.

No they don't.

Straw man accusation.

They have a right to complain about unjust criticism or accusations of failure that completely ignore the political realities of getting legislation passed.

Why is it unjust to point out that the Democrats failed on multiple occassions to codify Roe v Wade despite pre - election promises that they would do so when if they had the Republican's would have been unable to use the Senate majority to overturn the ruling leaving states able to make their own laws?

Why is it unjust to point out that allowing males to compete in sport is unfair on females which is what the Democrats have chosen to do with their ability to change laws?

I dont particularly care what percentage people are transgender.

It only takes 1 male to ruin sporting opportunities for women.

Title 9 was there for fairness for females.

For such a tiny minority it is amazing how many females are having their opportunities ruined. But you won't care about that obvs.

And as for calling males male, I'm sorry that offends you so deeply. I'd get some help because it is the truth.

What do they say about Trump? And who is 'they'? Joe Biden? Kamala Harris? Democrat politicians? Or random commentators online

If you're referring to him being called a fascist - his chief of staff - a deeply conservative man with an impeccable record of service used this word to describe him, on the strength of Trump's behaviour in office. So if Harris calls Trump a 'fascist' it's not a meaningless insult.

Go read some academic texts on what fascism is and you will see that 'fascist' is a completely appropriate term to describe Trump's values, his proclivities and his style of leadership.

"I think democrats are the fascists"

Because you don't know what 'fascism' means.

"Like when he spoke about drug dealers crossing the boarder and media tried to say he was talking about all Mexicans."

Trump continuously refers to undocumented migrants ONLY in terms of their criminality. Because if he wins the election he's planning to put millions of undocumented people in concentration camps prior to deportation. The evidence doesn't show that all or even most undocumented people are violent criminals. Most of them are people coming from poverty and oppression who are just desperate to work and make a life for themselves in the USA, like migrants the world over. But Trump can't acknowledge that because he wants everyone to fear and hate all undocumented people - hence only ever referring to people crossing the border as 'lunatics and criminals'.

"I'm guessing you watch alot of cnn?"

I'm in the UK. I don't watch US television. I get my news from a wide variety of reputable sources, and more to the point, after I listen to Trump talking, I go and fact check him. Which you obviously don't do ever, because if you did you'd know that Trump is an outrageous liar.

"They' is all of the above and of course the media (our media are just as bad). They say terrible things about Trump but expect him to be silent. Maybe you think its ok for them to say it because you agree with them but many don't and I think he has a right to speak too. I don't believe in silencing your opposition.
I don't think Trump fits the criteria for fascist at all (or nazi, racist, dictator, misogynist) but I have HUGE concerns about the lengths the establishment have gone to to have him silenced. The media and Democrats were told after the assassination attempt that they need to dial down their rhetoric but it didn't last long.
I think if you don't like him then don't vote for him.
Also, do you not believe in borders at all? Do you think people should be able to move to any country without checks/permission? Im not necessarily against that btw but I find it strange to condemn a country with borders for wanting to have control over who enters. I've heard Trump say many times that he is FOR immigration, but has to be done the legal way. I don't think that's unreasonable.
Have you heard how democrat politicians and the media describe Trump and his supporters? Again, maybe you think thats acceptable because you agree. I don't think its acceptable at all.
I also don't believe Biden, Harris, Obama, Clinton etc are the saints that some would have us believe.
And I do fact check, which is why i am so wary of the media and actually don't listen to the news at all anymore.
But honestly for the most part I know it's pointless trying to speak to people who have such blind hatred for Trump and his supporters Nothing anyone says will make a difference. I just wish the lies and scaremongering would stop.

WomensRightsRenegade · 31/10/2024 15:28

How is America not ready for a BLACK female president, as if they didn’t refuse to vote for a white female candidate 8 years ago?

As for calling people racist if they claim Harris didn’t reach her position through pure, distilled excellence - Biden explicitly chose her as VP because she was a black woman. She didn’t even receive 1pc of the vote when she ran for president herself in 2020 and has been the most deeply unpopular VP in modern history.

I guess people who aren’t capable of critical thinking - and only see the UK media perspective - see ‘fascist!’, ‘felon!’, ‘rapist!’ and parrot the same BS themselves. For the record Trump has never been found guilty of rape. And the assault he was found liable for was made by a woman who couldn’t even remember when and where it happened and had a history of false rape claims.

I’m sure he was awful to women. But Biden was accused BY Kamala Harris of being a sexual assaulter and a racist. His own daughter Ashley wrote in her diary that she showered late at night to avoid him coming into shower with her. Maybe these facts haven’t filtered through to the UK audience?

Anyhow I’m astonished that women only care about abortion, and literally NO other women’s right. Ask Peyton McNab, a teenage girl left permanently brain damaged and paralysed due to a boy playing against her in volleyball if she’s impressed with your single focus on abortion. Ask the women currently being raped in female prisons by men claiming to be women too.

Why did the Dems choose to go so batshit crazy? You know Kamala actually wrote a fawning letter of congratulation to Dylan Mulvaney for his brave and stunning appropriation of ‘girlhood’? Brilliant woman, my ass. Do a search for her word salads - it’s quite something.

TooBigForMyBoots · 31/10/2024 16:08

It's not about only caring about abortion. It's about women's bodily autonomy and we know Trump doesn't give a shit about that. It's also about democracy vs Trump's facism.

HRTQueen · 31/10/2024 17:05

izimbra · 31/10/2024 13:49

The problem with that is that Trump is genuinely fascistic.

By your terms it's unethical for his political rivals to point this out.

No I am not saying that at all

Call it out insulting him does not change peoples minds its cements his support and certainly doesn't help insulting his supporters as Hilary Clinton found out in 2016 and that has now back fired with Joe Biden's comment

Harris needs to show she is different to Trump that she wants to unite the country, her speech the other day her last big speech was really positive

this isn't what is being reported though

Mumtobabyhavoc · 31/10/2024 17:42

Memes and stories created by the conservatives in both cases. False.

Are you gullible or are you just here peddling shite? 🧐

BTW, the diary was stolen, nothing about its' contents has been confirmed, conservatives bought it and tried to use it and the thief was prosecuted.

Quite right - abortion is not a 'single issue'. It's about all kind of things including women's fundamental rights over their own bodies, but also about poverty, race, crime (research suggests that Roe v Wade prevented an expected crime wave because fewer kids were born to parents who wouldn't be able to provide for them). Trump's lot are literally talking about spying on women for any hint they may be pregnant and the result will literally be policing of the movement of women. Or certainly poor women. You can be sure a GOP politician will be able to fly his darling daughter out of the country for an abortion if she gets pregnant when she doesn't want to be. And women are already dying from totally preventable causes due to bans, leaving their LIVING children without their mothers for the sake of a non-viable foetus. So yes, this is important.

For the record Trump has never been found guilty of rape.

Trump was found liable for battery including sexual assault in a civil tort action by a jury. Those who try and downplay and deny Trump's actions use the words "guilty" and "rape" which are not terms used in civil trials.

And the assault he was found liable for was made by a woman who couldn’t even remember when and where it happened and had a history of false rape claims.

Yet, a jury found Trump liable and awarded the plaintiff $5 million.

Trump said he sexually assaulted multiple women.
Multiple women have said he sexually assaulted them.
A court found that he is a sexual abuser.

What else do you need @Linzi2377?Confused

TooBigForMyBoots · 31/10/2024 20:54

'Destroy women's sport'

A tiny handful of transwomen among hundreds of thousands in women's sport will destroy all of women's sport?

You people are hysterical about transwomen. Because they occupy such a massive space in your brain you've lost sight of the fact that they're a tiny, tiny, tiny marginalised group of people.

Also - you said 'I'm not sure I believe her' and then referred to 'real victims', which infers you've decided she's not a victim and so aren't unsure at all.

I'm not hysterical (note the sexism) about trans women. There's the 'you people' again. Very telling how much women who do not kowtow to male demands are addressed.

I'm determined that females should have fairness in sport.

That means all male bodies (trans women or any other male) have no place in female sport. That's fairness.

Once one male competes there is unfairness for females, he is more likely to win, but even if he doesn't he has unfair physical advantage which could hurt the females. Once he competes at least one female is displaced.

Trans women have the option to compete in their sex class.

Trans men (females) can compete with other females so long as they are not taking testosterone which has the side affect of being performance enhancing and is a banned substance for other females.

So you can do one with your 'anti trans' nonsense.
