Who will win US Election - Gut feelings

EveryBiteinBangkok · 24/10/2024 13:00

I have been half following online and media coverage of the US Election. It is getting close now. What is your gut feeling on who is going to win?

About a month ago, I felt fairly confident that Kamala Harris would win (who I want to win). Now though I am not sure and the amount of rumour and almost conspiracy around it online seems to be reaching fever pitch.

If you had to place a bet (grand national style) who would you go for?

Not the slightest idea - it's the US of A - they do their thing, incomprehensible or not. It's got as many variations as we do - for a comparatively small geographical place we even do the 'nation-states' thing a bit more than they do.

I love the United Statians for keeping the rest of us in line; a bit.

I think the mood is shifting to Harris but I don't think she will be a good president.

Probably not but i think she's the least worse candidate .

Well I can’t see American women voting in trump. And more women than men vote in the US I think?

I hope your right but some parts of America can be very racist and misogynistic so we will have to see.

I was very surprised to spot a Harris/Walz campaign placard on the side of the road in SE Cornwall. I presume they are nailing their colours to the mast, but the last time I looked, our consitituency was outside the USA.

Lol.

Maybe in a front yard in rural Missouri there's a forlorn Sunak sign flapping in the breeze

The odds have narrowed significantly in the last few days.
I think Kamala will win but I wouldn't want to bet money on it.

@Sheri99 I can understand that, my sense is the rest of the world thinks that too. It seems like it is endless and just dominates too much air time and social media etc. Now I realise even though this election is supposedly tomorrow the results could drag on for days or even weeks?!? Then takes until after Christmas for the change over of power. Everyone else seems to manage this all within a couple of days, so weird.

It is like WWE with the massively over the top rallies and name calling. I think everyone will be relieved when it is over. Just hope that both sides are gracious in both success and defeat.

And in barely any time at all it will be "just 2 years to the next election" and the whole thing starts again. Its worse than football.

Are they LDS? A lot of the instamums are, in which case they're mostly in Utah, which is always red, so their votes won't change any results.

Hoping to watch as your daughters and granddaughters are denied medical assistance when the miscarry? When rape victims, some of them mere children, are forced to carry their babies full-term? Hoping for other hardwon rights to be overturned in the next few years?

dottiehens · 04/11/2024 23:43

I hope is Kamala. She would do a shit job and I would look forward to the Democrats destroying each other. Finally, that would end the horrible division in the US. Trump will move on or go to jail and the democrats would be dust having loss hugely in the next midterms. If Trump wins is going to be a waste of time. They will not let him do anything like last time. The moaning would be unbearable. Only thing is they will managed to destroy quite a lot by not caring about the borders or pressing issues but hey at least is not Trump.

People are using the phrase Roevember.

And I can’t help but think many Republican men will be thinking ‘women are still upset about Roe? But that was months ago!’.

And I can't believe women (or anyone for that matter) is so ignorant of the US Constitution as to think the reversal of R v W took away their rights to get an abortion in the U.S.! So the Democrats used their ignorance. People really need to learn their U.S. Constitutional Law, etc!

EXCELLENT post. Gives me hope: the Dems implode. Some of the worst two faced, ignorant left over Flower Power children I've ever met are Dems. Women flock, like damn sheep to the ignorant rhetoric spouted by this party just to spend every taxpayer dime they can get. Not all women, but far too many and it makes me embarrassed to be a woman at times; hurts SO to say that, about my own gender. Was proud of them in the 70s, up to the last 20 years. But now they are just screaming, whining, banshees with knee jerk emotional reactions to everything and any woman who dares reveal she is a Republican - women eat their own. Sigh.

Nevaeh Crain Died During a Miscarriage After Trying to Get Care in Texas Hospitals — ProPublica

A Pregnant Teenager Died After Trying to Get Care in Three Visits to Texas Emergency Rooms

It took three ER visits and 20 hours before a hospital admitted Nevaeh Crain, 18, as her condition worsened. Doctors insisted on two ultrasounds to confirm “fetal demise.” She’s one of at least two Texas women who died under the state’s abortion ban.
