I'm in the very fortunate position of being able to invest a bit in some useful things.

I'm wondering about an air fryer. Would that be a good choice, would you say?

What else might be good?

So far I've got:
A really good new mixing bowl!!!!!
Possibly an air fryer
Possibly a new waterproof coat

I've got Jigsaw lace trimmed camisoles that do the same job for me. But if anybody could recommend some perfect scoop neck three quarter sleeve black tops, I'd buy ten of the elusive little buggers. My Jigsaw ones have died after many years and they don't do them anymore.

Boody black 3 quarter sleeve I recommend these. Going strong years later, hold fitted shape, very soft and can layer well or be worn as an outer top.

Bosch dishwasher, Eufy vac, heated blanket. Can’t be bothered with air fryer as rather have the extra kitchen surface.

Agree nice bed linen.

A luxury that would be a treat you wouldn’t usually buy, but could use daily, like a cashmere scarf?

3/4 Sleeve Top

Shop Boody's 3/4 Sleeve Top in our range of bamboo clothing. This 3/4 sleeve top for women is soft & naturally breathable. Perfect to wear, whatever the weather!

A lifetime membership to Edinburgh Zoo.

It’s £1,015 now. Was £930 last time I looked earlier this year. <keeps saving>

I live nearby so would visit most days.

A mobility scooter so that I can take my DC on days out :( (lone parent)

GretchenWienersHair · 11/10/2024 06:47

@SpecduckularlyQuackers I need that in my life!

1questionfromme · 11/10/2024 06:49

A deep clean by professional cleaners for my house.

I can’t believe these boring answers. F**cks sake, really.
Take your friends out to dinner. Spread the love. Have some fun. Surely that’s better than a f*ing air fryer and a long length phone cable. Christ, what have we become. I’m depressed reading these answers.

The thread is specifically 'to make life easier ' hence the replies.

I’ve got a couple of Sistema boxes, but I really want something with tiers.

Have got 2 Seasalt waterproof coats, one Janelle and one lighter weight one, but neither are perfect for me.

They do tiered ones too. I got mine in Tesco.
I've one with just two layers, and another with the top layer halved diagonally and a little dip pot in the centre.

JustWalkingTheDogs · 11/10/2024 09:57

Equidry coat
Shark airwrap
a really good hoover and mop

15 years ago I was gifted some money and bought a designer handbag for £1000. Something I never would have done normally. I use it nearly every week, it still looks in immaculate condition and it still makes me feel like a million dollars when I use it.

Which one did you get?

A new headset that connects to my phone/ipad to listen to my audio books/watch programmes/talk to people. Wouldn't be without mine now as have a few issues with hands/arm/neck weakness and it's amazing for being able to chat/listen in a comfortable position for me. Mine is on its very last legs and on my Christmas list!

Wireless earbuds? A tenner for a basic pair.

BobbyBiscuits · 11/10/2024 13:07

I'd have to save it. The two things I need are really expensive. One maybe 4k, the other closer to £12k. Not sure if I'll ever get that far tbh...

henlake7 · 11/10/2024 13:35

a soupmaker
a breadmaker (coz both of mine have broken and I know I will get plenty of use out of them....I miss home made bread!)

some decent thermal underwear and tights (already on my xmas list!LOL)

a handyman! (for those little jobs Ive been putting off like putting up shelves and curtain rails and fixing a couple of lights).

Awww, I read that as £1000 per day.
I was ready to be extravagant with a private chef and housekeeper.

That made me chuckle!

Rhaenys · 11/10/2024 14:24

I was sceptical about air fryers but I ended up buying one last year when my oven broke and have been really impressed with it.

Three weeks unpaid leave to deep clean and declutter and sort out my mental health

This! Definitely this!

Thanks. Sorry, yes. I’ve got one of those too but the top layer is really slim. I’m not explaining myself very well but I want a couple of decent sized tiers. Maybe more like a tiffin box?

This reminds me...! A Simple Human waste bin. It closes automatically without clanging, seals in all smells and the branded bags are brilliant and good value because even our modest slim line bin holds masses. Can't believe such a mundane item has improved kitchen life so much.

Those are the bags we buy! Every time I order them I say "can you believe we're spending ££ on bloody bin bags"

Dh always replies "owt for an easy life me"

Spooce · 11/10/2024 17:17

A new duvet that’s super fluffy, a Neom diffuser (or similar) and lots and lots of socks!

Frankensteinslittlefriend · 11/10/2024 17:44

Recently I did something similar. But went for nice things I’d get pleasure in using.

i got.

new pots. All the sizes. Good quality new pots. Binned the old done in ones.

new mugs, I got the Emma Bridgwater snowdrop ones. 25 pounds a pop and I got 8. Got rid of all the others apart from a couple of special ones, like best mum etc.

new towels. I got Egyptian cotton ones from the white company, in oatmeal. ,y last ones were white company and I’ve had them about a decade, so time for some lovely new ones, and the others can go on the large pile of guest towels.

new sheets, pillow cases and quilt cover , 1000 thread count Egyptian cotton , two sets for our bed.

all in spent about a grand, but totally worth it. The bedding is lovely to climb into, the towels lovely to use, the mugs a pleasure to drink from, and it’s great having good quality pots in all the sizes.

Amiable · 11/10/2024 19:53

I’d hire someone to help me declutter and organise - this would make a massive difference to me. I try to do little bits, but I have a chronic illness which leaves me very fatigued, so as fast as I do anything it gets messed up again! Being able to do it all in one go, and have someone objective helping me would be amazing.

AmIEnough · 14/10/2024 08:17

Sgtmajormummy · 09/10/2024 17:51

A robot vacuum.

I’ve asked my DH for one of these for Christmas as they’re quite pricey! Is that weird?!! 🤣🤣🤣

AmIEnough · 14/10/2024 08:18

Air fryers are fab!!! Definitely yes to this!!

AmIEnough · 14/10/2024 08:24

I spend a lot of time outdoors so for me, decent waterproof trousers, a dry robe (I have one, they are absolutely amazing and completely waterproof!), battery operated heated socks, a Gtech handheld Hoover for doing the stairs and any other little bits. A robot Hoover which I'm hoping to get at Christmas.
