I'm in the very fortunate position of being able to invest a bit in some useful things.

I'm wondering about an air fryer. Would that be a good choice, would you say?

What else might be good?

So far I've got:
A really good new mixing bowl!!!!!
Possibly an air fryer
Possibly a new waterproof coat

Latex Pillows
Water Flosser and electric toothbrush

@RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie

Something like this?

https://www.lavenderhillclothing.com/products/threequartersleevescooptshirt

I'd get a load of big fluffy towels.

And really good knickers ( though I would have to find some first - haven't found ones I like yet).

Better swimwear than I currently have.

Someone to tidy/ weed the garden before winter.

Thanks for this. The top is absolutely the right shape but the White Company donate to the Tory Party, so I don’t buy from them anymore.

I bought loads of M&S knickers that I like - I’ve decided I’m definitely in the comfy pants stage of life!

Another thing that would definitely improve my work life is a really good, layered bento box that is leak proof, if anybody knows of such a thing.

We got a cordless lightweight handheld vacuum thing last week - I love it! It’s just so quick to whip round and give everything a quick vacuum compared to the faff of getting the normal heavy vacuum out, plugging it in, the cord not stretching down the stairs. Already the house looks cleaner and that makes me feel calmer :)

Which one did you get please?

JMAngel1 · 10/10/2024 06:40

I don’t like the smell of air fryers. Every house I’ve been in that uses one smells like a fish shop. Kind of stale oil smell.

I have been buying things to make life easier over the last few months - nothing extravagant but plenty of underwear/socks for everyone (where do white sports socks go!) duplicate uniform items/pairs of scissors/more chopping knives/pens/stash birthday cards and gift wrap/back up dressing gowns so they get washed more often. Then more aesthetic things to make me happy - candles, perfume parlour room fresheners, new cushion covers, faux hydrangeas to brighten up the rooms, perfumes/body sprays, naice shower gels. Just things that elevate the every day.

A robot hoover

Some sort of storage/bench solution for my hallway for shoes/coats etc

Someone to sell all my items on Vinted!

PermanentTemporary · 10/10/2024 06:52

I would have said muck boots - revolution in support and comfort - but it sounds as if you have that side covered.

Just had our regular electrician in to do a day's worth of niggling improvements.

Phillips Lumea (since you mentioned chin hair...)

2024cando1 · 10/10/2024 07:37

Thanks to this thread I went and bought a eufy robot vacuum on Amazon prime day last night! I hope I love it 😊

Itabsolutelyispossible · 10/10/2024 08:05

@RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie is Lavender Hill clothing associated with the White Company?

Shareholders all seem to be individuals rather than companies?

DoggingDave · 10/10/2024 17:55

Lots of adult toys 🤣

Yes to an air fryer, robot hoover and some decent storage - I’m on an Ikea hacks fb page on which people seem able to make amazing boot room set-ups for a few hundred quid.

i’ve just spent £20 on 2 3-packs of black jersey vests from M&S - I wear them under my clothes and as pj tops and love them.

Spare make-up for work/handbag is a good call too.

Omg, me too - I live in black vest tops (though I love the ones from Matalan as they’re longer length) and I also use them as pj tops!

A robot vacuum.

Good call.

I'd get a proper coffee machine, I'd say it would be an investment after a while.

sofaprincess · 10/10/2024 18:04

I have a mini Ninja table top oven and we have used it way more than I thought we would - I think it cost around £250 and it was definitely my best buy last year.

I just did this but spend most of it on here working out what to do 😂

becks213 · 10/10/2024 18:16

A new sofa, it's desperately needed but I just can't afford it right now

BooBooDoodle · 10/10/2024 18:40

An electric throw blanket. I love mine 🥰

ColdWaterDipper · 10/10/2024 18:44

if you have the room in your kitchen then I would buy a second dishwasher and never put crockery and glasses etc away again ever! I’d also buy new running shoes and a decent waterproof coat.

OriginalUsername2 · 10/10/2024 18:55

One of those Lumea hair removal zappers is the next thing on my wish list. Full body body laser removal would be the dream though.

Second? We haven’t even got a first? 😂

In my next house if we ever move and I'm lucky enough to have a new kitchen I will have 2 dishwashers or one of those divided ones . Fabulous!

Ivymedication · 10/10/2024 19:25

I'd buy a 2nd robot vacuum for upstairs.

I would really love someone to invent one for the stairs but I don't think a prize of £800 would draw them out.

I would probably spend the rest on remodeling our ds toilet into a bootroom/toilet/storage room, obviously using ukea hacks and upcycling but as its imaginary monet for me it all looks amazing and tastefully done. The room has also possibly grown a little.

But I would 100% buy 2 robot hoovers if you have 2 floors. If you run them everyday you only have to do the edges when it annoys you.

The sistema ones don't leave, or haven't for me yet. They just aren't very pretty bento boxes just snappy tupperware really which isn't as fun.
