I'm in the very fortunate position of being able to invest a bit in some useful things.

I'm wondering about an air fryer. Would that be a good choice, would you say?

What else might be good?

So far I've got:
A really good new mixing bowl!!!!!
Possibly an air fryer
Possibly a new waterproof coat

Well, what a charmer you seem to be. I asked for recommendations for things to buy. I’m perfectly capable of going out for dinner and having some fun as well, thanks.

Taking your friends out to dinner is “buying something”. It’s about memories and friendship and making other people happy as well as yourself. So, yeah, I am a charmer as it goes, if you actually read into the words.

Depending on where you live - membership to art fund or national trust or your local museums, parks etc. It'll mean you can do something nice every single week , so not quite the day to day you requested but I'd still recommend. Hire a skip to massively declutter and be more organised and minimal going forward. Really good coffee machine, set of decent knives, lights for inside your wardrobes and cupboards, print & frame some photos of loved ones and places and put them up in the rooms you spend the most time.

A mulberry handbag. It won't make my life easier but it will bring me joy.

The thread isn’t about making other people happy- but feel free to work yourself up about it if you want to.

A halogen heater and an air fryer.

i do this each month with little things up to £25.

Things like - an extra long phone charger, a big box of biros, spare make up so I have some at work, a second gym padlock as I have two gym bags (keep one in the car) and I kept forgetting to swap it round.

it really depends on your lifestyle, I haven't been tempted by an air fryer for example.

I would be tempted by a second hoover to keep upstairs or a second dishwasher myself....

This is a brilliant idea, or saving £25 per month in a ‘make my life admin easier’ fund for when there’s a good sale.

Ninja air fryer
Laser hair removal on my tache

A decent bin and bin bags. Sounds ridiculous but I was sick of bin bags splitting- we buy ££ ones from amazon that perfectly fit the bin and never split now

This reminds me...! A Simple Human waste bin. It closes automatically without clanging, seals in all smells and the branded bags are brilliant and good value because even our modest slim line bin holds masses. Can't believe such a mundane item has improved kitchen life so much.

ScaryM0nster · 10/10/2024 21:17

Oooh.

Motion sensors for certain lights and extractor fans.

Quiet extractor with a motion sensor, comes on and runs for ten minutes more after the motion stops. Game changer.

Lumi motion sensor night lights on key skirting boards if you’re ever up in the night.

ISeriouslyDoubtIt · 10/10/2024 21:20

Robot lawnmower and an extra vacuum to keep upstairs so I have one each up and down.

Dymaxion · 10/10/2024 21:30

Passports for DS and I , so the dream of taking him abroad some day would be in theory achievable, not an every day thing but it would make me happy every day knowing we had them.
A new washing machine ( installed and old one taken away ) current one is very aged and sounds like a jet engine Grin
A new bed for DH, so I don't have to try and fix the old one again, a decent second hand one would be fine.
A new to me sofa, so I don't have to sleep on the rodent chewed one any longer, although this is possibly one of the reasons for my superb immune system !
A skip, possibly a couple. This should probably be the number one thing.

We got a cordless lightweight handheld vacuum thing last week - I love it! It’s just so quick to whip round and give everything a quick vacuum compared to the faff of getting the normal heavy vacuum out, plugging it in, the cord not stretching down the stairs. Already the house looks cleaner and that makes me feel calmer :)

Which one did you get? Does it have good enough suction? I got a yellow shark and it’s feeble

spiderlight · 10/10/2024 23:15

A new cooker.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 10/10/2024 23:19

@frozendaisy
A wake up alarm that makes either tea or coffee

@ohreallythatisveryinteresting I want exactly that shape, but not thermal.

Let me know when you find the 3/4 sleeve ones. My DSis has short arms and the long sleeve ones are too long. I searched on eBay this weekend and found none. Thank you xx
