Only got to end of page one & I have 50% of it 😂

I don't like anything too matchy. When it looks like you've just gone to b&m to update your theme or colour.

I'm normally guilty of lots of mumsnetters hates. I love a little bit of clutter, houseplants, seasonal wreaths on the front door, carpets and I especially love a coloured bath suite (I'd get an avocado one if my husband would let me!).

Oh yes, I'd love an original turquoise bathroom suite! It would sell any house to me!

As a student I lived in a house that a pale yellow, sort of primrose yellow bathroom suite complete with black square tiles around the bath. Lovely.

I would love a primrose yellow bathroom suite! I saw one once, they had green tiles. Envious 💚

I love coloured bathroom suites too! New ones cost a small fortune.

Wood floors
Free standing roll top baths
Butler sinks
Chesterfield sofas
Smeg appliances
Wicker baskets filled with logs
Le creuset on display in the kitchen
Antique furniture

Whoop. I win on your hate list,,

I have all the above except Smeg appliances, and antique furniture, I do have a lot of antiques though, the chesterfields are velvet not leather. And the creuset is in the kitchen cupboards. If that makes a difference 😂

Peony15 · 16/09/2024 22:52

The craze for replacing white window frames with black/dark grey ones .
Can just imagine the sales talk .. " they don't need painting/cleaning ".
They look totally wrong and out of keeping in victorian/edwardian house/terrraces.
Combined with " modern " entrance doors.
🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
They spoil the look of whole streets and devalue the period streetscene.
Hate them with a passion.

I didn't like the front room that was full of like like dolls. They stared at me.

Neither did I like the house that was full of Grandfather clocks. I never went on the o'clock again.

I wasn't keen on the flat that had pin up photos of his Granddaughter as a page 3 model and I had to ask him to switch Babestation off while I was talking to him.

I don't like hoarders houses especially those where things scuttle away.

I also dont like houses when the patient has been in hospital for months and they came in unkempt. Blue bottles hurt when they fly at your face when you open the front door.

I also don't like houses where you can see the upstairs flooring is falling down into the living room.

Peony15 · 16/09/2024 22:59

oh
and fake flowers/astroturf. Any business covering their entrance
with plastic flowers and floral
arches, fake plant pots on tables etc makes
me mistrust
them
instantly.
Equivalent to

I’ve got all of those except for a roll top bath and Chesterfield sofas! You’ll hate my house!

I’m saving up for a roll top bath, though 😉

Eyelet curtains. Wood/laminate flooring.

This is quite a collection of nightmare houses. Do you do home visits as part of your work?

Sorry aren't all front doors entrance doors!

I'm very confused

I am not sure what’s confusing? She clearly refers to window frames, then mentions combined with the doors. Why is this confusing?

footgoldcycle · 17/09/2024 07:03

I genuinely want to know what a "modern entrance doors means.

All doors are entrance (and exit) doors

I’m tempted to purchase a Chesterfield chair, ready for the event 😇

Trixiefirecracker · 17/09/2024 07:36

I think it’s Starslinger that might have the bad taste, wondering if they like laminate flooring and grey wall and live laugh love posters?

Blimey, you’ve pretty much described my house, apart from the Smeg!
But I am also guilty of laminate flooring, where I couldn't afford anything else and I have panelling in my hallway.

Peony15 · 17/09/2024 08:34

By modern I mean a contemporary instead of a period style.
E.g an anthracite composite door with opaque glass squares and a long vertical handle in a row of red brick victorian houses with period front doors looks out of keeping.
My home = MY castle , I get why it's done.
When you drive along a street with beautiful houses that are beautifully kept in their coherent period style whether it's 1900 / 1930' / 1960's inc the gardens is a visual/aesthetic pleasure to me.
That's why we have conservation areas and listed buildings.
I've just noticed the anthracite window frames etc being installed all over the place.
To me they look ugly, especially in victorian red brick houses.

We all have different tastes.

I'm adding this colour combo to my wish list! DH has "given up" and said I can do what I like when we buy our next home.
