What is your resting heart rate?

Just curious. Someone said mine means I must be really fit but I'm not as active as I'd like to be.

It's mad high compared to everyone on here and people I know IRL. My 86 yo nans was only 68

Well normal range is 60-100. For a female average rhr is in the 70s.

KnittedCardi · 07/09/2024 10:49

Low heart rate and overweight or obese could be a heart issue. The low rates on here are either super fit, or their fit bits are rubbish.

Gingerwarthog · 07/09/2024 12:44

51
BMI of 22
Regular runner and swimmer
Lower blood pressure too

Gymmum82 · 07/09/2024 12:47

45-50bpm. I’m very fit though and compete in sport.

I think people may be quoting what their smart watches say, which often includes overnight. Mine is telling me today that my 7 day average is 47.

But right now I'm sitting round, nice and relaxed, titting round on MN until it's time to go and pick up an offspring, and my daytime at rest heart rate currently is 61..

If you do the current reading, it’s taken then (takes a few moments to to measure it). There is an average heart rate available to, which includes overnight.

GG1986 · 07/09/2024 14:36

Blimey! Mines around 85-90 usually, I do have some autoimmune diseases and a thyroid issue. But mine has always been quite fast.

Kettledodger · 07/09/2024 14:38

I have worn a Fitbit for a few years now. My average resting heart rate in 2022 was 75. I was extremely overweight and very unfit. I started to lose weight and exercise in September 2023 my average for that year was 72. So far this year my average RHR is 64. The numbers themselves may not be completely accurate but it really has shown how getting healthier has helped my heart so much.

TFISaturday · 07/09/2024 14:44

Just checked and it is 57.

I'm 44 and exercise most days including running 3 times a week.

I've known very unfit and overweight people have RHRs in their 50s though so it's far from a full picture.

AddictedToBooks · 07/09/2024 15:55

Between 83-110 - I have tachychardia

gingercat02 · 07/09/2024 16:00

57 on my fitbit, but currently 66, and I'm just scrolling and half watching tv (waiting for my online shop)

PoopedAndScooped · 07/09/2024 01:11

Reckon they are relying on ‘smart watches’ that doctors say not to trust

When I get mine done at work (NHS), it's always pretty much the same as my fitbit

LaurieFairyCake · 07/09/2024 16:13

74 average resting heart rate - is that high?

I've got really low blood pressure too, keep fainting.

Solonga · 07/09/2024 16:14

On my old Apple Watch it was about 64, on my new Apple Watch it's about 70, I did get an alert that my resting heart rate had gone up and when I investigated it was the day of the new watch.

Agree

Some of these many low rhrs are similar to those of elite, pro athletes 😀

And many of these low heart rates happen when watches are worn too loosely on the wrist. A poor connection results in inaccurate readings.

DollyTots · 07/09/2024 18:22

Mine’s between 85-100. I’m 34, 9st and low-ish blood pressure. No GPs or hospital consultant see an issue with it.

I feel woozy a lot but had a few ECGs which show no issues. The heart is probably compensating for the blood pressure.

Solonga · 07/09/2024 18:27

MIL had a low heart rate and needed a pacemaker so it's not always good

Bamboozled5 · 07/09/2024 18:34

Apple Watch does a resting heart rate excluding overnights. Mine is 63. A lot of these rates are very low unless you are all elite athletes. I think PP is right to say these are either inaccurate or include night times! Otherwise people need to get checked out for bradycardia.

I am not an elite athlete and also have cardiomyopathy - my heart goes down into the 30s at night!

SwordBilledHummingbird · 07/09/2024 19:28

Mine is generally in the low 50s. That's my typical daytime resting heart rate though it can temporarily drop into the mid 40s when I'm very relaxed. At night it averages around 45. I do wear a FitBit but I get the same readings when I wear my chest strap heart rate monitor or when using a blood pressure monitor so I'm happy that it's fairly accurate. My FitBit can't always keep up with rapid heart rate increases so I always wear my chest strap monitor when exercising, it's very accurate at the lower end of the scale though.

I'm very fit and have a low BMI and low blood pressure but even so I don't think the low readings people are reporting here are that surprising. My cardiologist says that the range of 60-100 for a normal RHR is outdated and that 50-70 is a healthy range.

Newterm · 07/09/2024 19:32

Mine is 63. I’m pretty fit and BMI is 23

TrickyD · 07/09/2024 20:21

I’m joining the low heart rate competition.
Mine was 30 lying down, DH rang 111 who sent an ambulance. I had a pacemaker fitted the next day.
Now it’s about 70.

Rokuandice · 07/09/2024 20:28

Haven’t read the whole thread. Mine is always around 104. I knew it was fast but a bit worried after comparing mine with so
many of yours!

pambeesleyhalpert · 07/09/2024 20:34

Not to brag but I actually get alerts on my watch telling me my Hr is too low

Fatcaterpillar · 07/09/2024 20:35

Currently 75bpm, age 64 and a good bit. I'm chilling on the bed so definitely resting but not sleeping.

You need to see your GP.

This is a potentially concerning symptom. It might prove to be nothing, but there are a couple of quite serious conditions that need to be ruled out.

Normal is 60-100
