Just curious. Someone said mine means I must be really fit but I'm not as active as I'd like to be.

I rarely measure it, but when I do, it is in the 80s.
Measuring health things spikes my anxiety, so there is no surprise it is high when I actually make the effort to see what it is.
I will never have a smart watch. I would drive myself potty.

KohlaParasaurus · 06/09/2024 23:37

High 40s. I do a lot of sport.

My DH's is 38. This is genetic and not evidence of extreme fitness.

Crazymadchickenlady · 06/09/2024 23:37

Mines around 50 but I’m on beta blockers which keep it low

MadTerrierWoman · 06/09/2024 23:37

It’s been as low as 40 before but now is between 52 and 62 (I’m in my 50’s). It’s always been low and when I used to have my gym assessments the instructors would often would be incredulous I wasn’t an athlete. I have exercised all my life but am definitely not an athlete!

Jammedchakra · 06/09/2024 23:37

I’m 52, average resting HR - 45
BMI - 21

I run a lot, I’m def fitter than average.

jolenethea · 06/09/2024 23:38

From 39 some days (goes as low as 35 overnight). An average of 53 over the last few months.

Just looked at my Fitbit app and mine ranges from 71-77 resting over the last month.

I feel slightly worried after just flicking through these and seeing how low they are. I am overweight though.

Me too! Mine is 71. But I just looked it up and the British heart foundation says normal is anything from 60-100 bpm

NyeRobey · 06/09/2024 23:41

61 today. It's gone down 10 BPM since the end of the Summer term (work in education) and my HRV has gone up twenty points. I must have been stressed.

Getoverit1965 · 07/09/2024 00:28

Around 55. I used to be pretty fit but I'm 5 stone overweight currently.

Strokethefurrywall · 07/09/2024 00:54

Anywhere between 45-55 when I'm not vaping, 55-59 when I do.
Otherwise don't drink alcohol and am very fit.

Emeralpies · 07/09/2024 00:58

Apple Watch says 46 at the moment.

PoopedAndScooped · 07/09/2024 00:58

upat4am · 06/09/2024 21:47

Mine is about 70. Mid 30s, don't exercise as much as I should but not fat.

It is high, and was very high when pregnant, but my sisters also have high RHR so I think genetic.

70 is NORMAL

71-77 is very NORMAL

Mumtobabyhavoc · 07/09/2024 01:02

Usually 46-48.

PoopedAndScooped · 07/09/2024 01:02

ln1981 · 06/09/2024 22:18

Usually low-mid 40’s, but has dropped overnight to around 35/36 on occasion (I have my Apple Watch set to trigger an alarm if it drops for more than 10minutes). I’m reasonably fit though-run 4/5 times a week as well as doing weight training.

35 is far from normal
You should see a doctor

I have absolutely no idea - why on earth would I need to know? Is this just something for the "worried well"?

This !! My mum always said ‘ if it works don’t fix it ‘ She died suddenly at 83 …she was climbing a ladder hours before she died! Apparently it was an aneurysm . Am glad she was unaware beforehand.

How come most people on this thread have ridiculously low ones?? 😂🤣😆

Reckon they are relying on ‘smart watches’ that doctors say not to trust

My watch says 97! All this tech is for the worried well! Am not even remotely worried.

Strokethefurrywall · 07/09/2024 01:26

Everyone's RHR is different and depends on multitude of factors - age, fitness level, genetics, medical issues.

It doesn't mean much in and of itself - I'm only aware of mine as I train a lot, wear a garmin watch and have had regular medical work ups for life insurance policies.

Generally speaking, the faster your heart rate can return to normal the better and is a good indicator of cardiac health so that's what many doctors measure when doing medical checks.

This. Although it’s possibly using sleeping heart rate as well as daytime resting and the two are different. My phone has mine as in the low 70s which I presume is taking it from my Apple Watch. It’s almost never that low if I take it on my pulse ox unlessI’ve been lying in bed for ages. Just sitting and resting will put it in 80s.

Just realised this makes it sound as though I check my heart rate frequently. I don’t. I only use the pulse ox when my asthma flares up and the HR isn’t the number I’m looking for.

SeaToSki · 07/09/2024 01:53

Mine cant go below 60, but thats because its the lowest setting for my pacemaker

Deepdivesueandyou · 07/09/2024 01:55

98 and worried

Athlete/sports most of my life. (If you consider 46 low).

Twinkletwinklelil · 07/09/2024 02:22

40-50 pre pregnancy.
