For inappropriate behaviour. No further details yet as to what specifically he has allegedly done.

Sometimes you can just get rid, it doesn’t have to be a criminal offence. I have worked with two people in the past that were dismissed instantly for gross misconduct, one was for a conviction of drink driving with a driving ban (job was driving and yes, this was a crime) and the other was for misuse of IT (accessing porngraphy using work equipment whilst working, not a crime but gross misconduct).

Me too, I’d be bored stiff!

I am however very intuitive, and I can read people well, and it rarely fails me.

Sure, Jan…

Having a friend who works for a premiership club, ‘snaring’ a footballer is real. Tracking them down, following them to particular clubs, making contact, all to try and be a WAG or to marry money.

Those poor poor men. How ever are the little lambs expected to resist. It's totally understandable that they crumble and shag anything with a pulse. They're only human.

crumblingschools · 23/08/2024 21:57

He is having to have therapy, really, poor man 😡

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 23/08/2024 21:58

@AlecTrevelyan006 but it wasn't illegal. Phew.

SSpratt · 23/08/2024 21:58

How long before he is having treatment for mental health problems? Hue Edwards style.

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 23/08/2024 21:59

But god his poor wife and kids. This must be so shit for them.

AnneShirleysNewDress · 23/08/2024 22:18

Sorry, not sorry. What a poor excuse for an apology.

Gagaandgag · 23/08/2024 22:35

It appears that, after consulting his lawyers, he is…..sorry & ashamed. @AlecTrevelyan006

yep!!! 😂

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

"Receiving therapy"

He and whoever aided him in writing this statement, must think we are utter fools.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Not sure why it was the lead story on the 10 o'clock news though,

Surely other world events are more important for the general population to know.

Aquarius1234 · 23/08/2024 22:59

I believe JJ has been texting people right from the start . So few years or more??
No way is this a recent thing eg couple months.

Black people are always judged more harshly and quickly than their white counterparts.
White folk will get away with things that black folk can't and shouldn't. That's why crime figures are higher for black people, others are always on the lookout for a black person to mess up. Turn the other way if a white person is doing similar.

Just to clarify JJ does not have black or dark skin, I'm describing him as black as that's what HR equal opportunity forms would stick him under.

Also, JJ is a boring presenter, I turn TOS off if he's on it.
The rest are corpses as well but he's another level of bore.

I remember reading about a crafty shoplifting duo who used racism to their “advantage”, they’d go in a shop separately - the black kid went first because they knew the security mans eyes would then be on them and then the white kid would saunter in and take the opportunity to shoplift, as they were so focused on the black kid who deliberately wandered around the shop 😬 they said it worked most time.

heartbroken22 · 24/08/2024 00:51

Why does it take such a long time for them to get rid of white employees who have done far worse?

In this most recent cases - it will be down to the police being involved in one and not the other.

Combattingthemoaners · 24/08/2024 07:48

His “apology” was utterly crap.

Exactly what I say.

Huw Edward at the time known to be paying young men for images.

Phil Schofield at the time known to have had a sexual relationship with a young man whom he knew as a child.

JJ texting adult women

Yet the forever 2 get so much leeway. 😐

Ilovetowander · 24/08/2024 09:41

We don't know the content of the messages - and I don't think we have a right to know as this is not in the public interest. There is a whole spectrum of "inappropriate" as it depend on what we are applying this to. With regard to his employment the texts given what has been said do not sound obscene or threatening or illegal and therefore I do not think it should be the end of his role at the BBC. With regard to his wife that is totally different and I think the action she chooses to take is totally understandable whatever that might be as the relationship they have will have boundaries/trust etc and if these are broken then it is her choice what to do - but that is not the public's business.

The reason why I think this as if this were a general member of the public who sent "inappropriate" texts which were not illegal then they should not loose their job and I feel that we need to be careful of applying standards that then are translated across.

ABirdsEyeView · 24/08/2024 10:15

I think it took so long to get rid of PS and HE because they were bigger stars and considered to be important to the brand of ITV and the BBC. JJ, not so much.
JJ has done what countless other men have done and got away with but unfortunately for him, he's been caught in the wake of the Strictly and HE scandals. Timing is everything!

Sunshineandrainbow · 24/08/2024 10:17

Vernon Kay vibes.
His marriage managed to survive.

I feel sacking of JJ is harsh but the BBC have seen the texts I haven't.

Reading between the lines, there were two women involved, and he has defended one as consensual... It seems the other was not, and she has complained to HR. She is also an employee of the BBC.

New guidelines for conduct at work were bought out after Huw Edwards. He'll have been made aware of those, and quite possibly signed to say he'd stick to them.

I don't think this would have been the end of his employment if all incidents were inappropriate but consensual.

crumblingschools · 24/08/2024 10:29

Yes I assume their HR policies were tightened up after HE. Employees would have been told what behaviour would now constitute a sacking offence and JJ is first high profile name to be caught. Assume minor employees treated the same but won’t make headline news
