Blake Lively, RR & It Ends With Us drama

Have NC because I freely admit that I have (limited) skin in this game, I am not entirely neutral.

This tells the story of the rift better than I could video here more about JB here JB info

Have worked for Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds in the UK, they are ...erm not my favourite slebs to work with. BL can be nasty to staff, her I'm all for women thing would be great, if she wasn't awful to them in reality. RR sometimes apologetically, always sides with BL, as his wife.
However, she does have 4 young DCs, so has spent much of the last decade pregnant, or post partum, which is enough to make anyone tired and therefore appear 'difficult'.

As I am senior in my role, stars have to treat me with some decency. Even so, the mask slips, I do everything I can to make their time in the UK as comfortable as possible, whilst placating the staff they upset, I will not work with them if I can avoid it.

Justin Baldoni directed It Ends With Us, I do not know JB.

Anti JB side (note there isn't much information about what JB has done wrong):
• He was difficult on set.
• He was acting and directing, diluting his ability to do both.
• He has hired a the firm of PR crisis manager who helped to improve Johnny Depp's image during the Amber Heard trial.
• JB has a pro 'good' men podcast called Man Enough, largely it is positive. Unfortunately he had Drake Bell on the podcast and did not question his accountability for previous SA.

Anti BL side:
• BL is trying to give the film a Barbie moment, encouraging audiences, for a film about DV, to wear florals.
• BL has objected to two things; she says JB fat-shamed her on set and, in one scene kissed her for too long (no suggestion that the kiss itself was inappropriate e.g. tongue).
• BL & RR made a cut of the film, which emphasises the rom-com of the story, rather than the DV.
• BL has corralled the author, Colleen Hoover and the cast to 'unfollow' JB on social media.
• RR rewrote a scene for the film without being asked by the director in doing so, RR broke the writer's strike.
• The cast have not been doing any press or standing on the red carpet at the premieres with JB.
• BL is using the film promo to also promote her new hair brand.

It may be that JB was a massive a-hole, or it may be that BL was a 'mean girl' and used her considerable power to influence the rest of the cast to be unpleasant to JB.
The truth could lie somewhere in the middle.

This is everything I know, I did not work on the film, or the promotion of it, so far.
I am able to agree that I have direct experience of seeing what BL and RR are like IRL, whereas I do not have the same experience of JB.
I'm prepared to accept that JB is the villain here.
I do not have any further information about this situation, if any comes my way I will, without breaking my contractual obligations, write about it here.

What do you want from us here?

Trox · 16/08/2024 14:07

Are you not a teeny tiny bit concerned that you might be quite easy to identify? I'm assuming discretion is part of the job description...

Remmy123 · 16/08/2024 14:07

The drama is all very interesting, I'm not overly invested but I will say the film was awful!

Blake was cheesy and cringe - it needed to be more raw/gritty it lacked so much depth.

Nanana1 · 16/08/2024 14:07

I’m more interested in this than the film or the book. I do think it’s odd that BL completely ignored the DV angle & it’s all about the floral fashion (some great looks) & launching a hair care line.

Nanana1 · 16/08/2024 14:09

I also didn’t realise how successful RR is, the last film I saw of his was the one with Sandra B. Not into Deadpool.

SatansBobbleheadedDashboardOrnament · 16/08/2024 14:10

Wherever the truth may lie, her numerous interviews (including the controversial 2016 one which has just surfaced) do not paint her in a good light at all. She's been outright mean, very 'Me, Me, Me' and the body language from her co-stars says it all really.

Taylorontour · 16/08/2024 14:13

I’m interested in this too - mainly because I’ve wondered recently if BL and RR are as nice as they like to portray. I saw a video clip of them attending a Taylor Swift concert where they were walking past loads of TS fans who obviously recognised them. In the clip, BL is seen clearly telling RR to wave … and then he kind of switches on this plastic charming smile and does as he is told. I maybe being unfair here but it just felt like they were following a script to put on a ‘we’re so lovely’ show. Then there’s the whole Deadpool promotion… I’m a huge HUGE fan of Hugh Jackman but the constant jokes and pranks in interviews with RR just feels a bit of an overkill. I feel a bit disappointed by it all if I’m honest. I badly want to like them - especially as I know they’re friends with my fave TS ❤️

I’m interested in other people’s thoughts and experiences.

MeinKraft · 16/08/2024 14:14

I was actually thinking about discussing this on here. To ask why there are bots all over X trying to smear Blake Lively, what is going on? I'm seeing it constantly and I have zero interest in Blake Lively, I haven't been searching her on X or anywhere else. And now here on MN as well.

LettyToretto · 16/08/2024 14:15

I'm Team JB

But largely because I find RR unbelievably nauseatingly false and I've seen BL be a real cow in interviews. Don't trust those two at all.

WhatdoIdoooooo · 16/08/2024 14:15

@SatansBobbleheadedDashboardOrnament What was she saying in the 2016 interview?

I’ve never know what the fuss is about with her? She seems very dull 😬

PizzaFecker · 16/08/2024 14:15

Did you see her interview with kjersti flaa? BL was 7 months pregnant and it was public knowledge. The interviewer says congratulations on the pregnancy, and BL said 'congrats on your pregnancy I like your baby bump'

Kjersti was not pregnant and it was just so rude and mean!! It's on Kjersti's
YouTube if you want to watch it. Its ultimate cringe

longdistanceclaraclara · 16/08/2024 14:16

So you are senior in your role and have no confidentiality clauses in your contract?

Look up 'The Blake Lively interview that made me want to quit my job'. She is an undeniable cowbag in it - basically fat shames the interviewer, refuses to look at her, makes some mortifying passive-aggressive comments to her co-star about the journalist's questions. She comes across as a right prat.

ButtonNoses · 16/08/2024 14:19

Blake is a mean girl, her unprofessionalism and her downright nastiness in that 2016 is enough for me. I will say she isn’t that good an actor, Harrison Ford said she was wooden- and she would be nothing more than a Hallmark TV actress without Ryan Reynolds fame who is also insufferable.

Nanana1 · 16/08/2024 14:20

@Taylorontour I don’t think many Hollywood stars can be that nice, the business is cut throat. RR is very self deprecating & tries very hard to be relatable.

notallbloom · 16/08/2024 14:21

@putyourhandsintheairok as with any thread you are welcome to read this, or not, add useful perspectives, if you don't like the thread you can scroll on past.

No I am not in the least bit concerned about being outed @Trox.

My impression is that JB's cut of the film had the grit @Remmy123, Colleen Hoover, BL and RR wanted to emphasise the romance.

@Nanana1 RR in particular is incredibly successful and powerful.

That will be the mask slip @SatansBobbleheadedDashboardOrnament.

Then I won't tell you anything about Taylor Swift @Taylorontour.

Blake is good in a few films I’ve seen, although she very much plays the same character. They both aren’t going to win Oscars but that’s true for many.

Come on, you can't say that... 👀

Taylor Swift does an incredible job of coming across as very likeable on camera and during interview. But as the saying goes, you are who you hang with...

@longdistanceclaraclara do you work in the industry? I have not broken any confidentiality clause, or even skated close to one.
Confidentiality agreements are not quite the way people may believe. They do not curtail a person's right to free speech.

Just watched it this morning and it was very mean girls of Blake and Parker. The way they didn’t even look at the interviewer at all when answering the qs and just talking to each other was so rude (not to mention the “congrats on your little bump” response from Blake wtf).

Her and RR have long struck me as the worst kind of celebs - absolute control freaks about their image but pretending to be really laid back in public with their social media banter. Either just follow the Brad and Angie/Amal and George route and be control freaks but own it or unclench, but it’s having it both ways (whilst constantly merching in every conceivable way) plus generally the overexposure of them both over the last few months that I think was starting to rub people up the wrong way.

Either way I’m so here for this drama (grabs popcorn, pulls up DeuxMoi).

Twistybranch · 16/08/2024 14:28

I do find it odd that she has used the ‘Barbie’ campaign for a film about DV. She’s also promoting her drinks line and hair care line at the same time.

Looks like people are trying to cancel her, from reading the DM. She doesn’t come across great to be honest
