And before that we lived with the terror threats related to Ireland. This isn't new.

In England, NI had to deal with the loyalist paramilitaries too.

EasternStandard · 08/08/2024 07:24

Really bad

The question needs to be asked why is it young males that are willing to carry out these atrocious attacks.. 19 years old? Why?

I know, it’s so young. And the Southport boy was 17 (not terror related). How is your mind so warped so young or how is it so easily warped. It’s terrifying.

I guess it's because at that age they're a combination of really impressionable and able to carry out violent acts.

Is it because the fans are young girls?
Or because the terrorists are anti Taylor Swift and what she represents (singing? dancing? fame? huge artist? They did the same to Ariana Grande.

It’s all of it. The concerts represent fun, freedom, hope, innocence etc

Young girls, women, females, joy, happiness, freedom, not being subjugated by men "of faith" You'll get my gist.

We should fear for our futures and stand up for our rights.

Some of the comments on here stray really close to Islamophobic. This is heartbreaking for everyone involved, though clearly could have been so much worse. Some of those devastated children and parents will be migrants and *shock horror *Muslims. Why can’t people just direct their anger at the small number of absolute cretins that carry out these attacks. I have a number of wonderful friends who are both Muslim and immigrant (including one who came on a small boat many years ago!) and they’re just as disgusted as the rest of us.

Report any posts you deem inappropriate and if they are Islamaphobic and I'm sure they'll be removed. I haven't seen anyone suggest all Muslims support these kind of actions so maybe they've already been deleted? Unless you have an issue with people discussing world events?

Thats not a shock, by far the biggest victims of Islamic extremist attacks are Muslims. Which comments are Islamophobic? Please report them.

I very much doubt it. This will of taken months of careful planning, they’ve been found with chemicals so the intention as it always is by these radical fanatics is to kill and maim as mainly westerners as possible. I’m sure these ones in particular don’t give a shiny shit about riots over here.

Also that degree of planning means that it won’t be easy to just switch venue - unless there’s a group with the right chemicals plus knowledge of what do do with them already in situ in this country.

Of course that doesn’t rule out other types of attack by other IS inspired online groomed individuals or cells. Or others, motivation unknown.

I was wondering if the rising tensions in the ME, and the recent assassination of the Hamas leader, have influenced the timings

Some of them have already been deleted so clearly I wasn’t the only one who thought so.

It's okay to talk about the problem of Islamic extremism. Muslim countries like the UAE and even now Saudi are very hot on stamping it out, and are a lot blunter than most Western countries about it as well, and quicker to ban extremist organisations.

Refusing to name the issue and accusing people of "isms" is stirring up a lot of anger and resentment all over the UK and Europe presently.

meant to be going to see Taylor at Wembley next week and now very nervous about it. And also wondering if it will be cancelled..

MushMonster · 08/08/2024 08:22

I have not read the whole threat, but of the parts I have read, there is no mention of muslims or Islam, only of terrorists and mysoginists.

Yalta · 08/08/2024 05:52

This where I think the power of the small claims court should step in.

It’s a bit like the IRA, I could never understand why people didn’t sue them for losses. I am sure there are bank accounts and investments in this country that could be traced back to Isis leaders. We know Those known sympathisers should be the ones to foot the bill.

Money I lost because of f**king IRA bomb threats ultimately ran into hundreds and subsequently thousands,

Someone needs to pay

its not as though we don’t know who these people are or where these people are. Maybe think twice if they know there won’t be any money for bombs if they have had to spend it compensating those who have been affected by there action

lol these people are literally willing to blow themselves to smithereens for their cause- you really think a fine would be a deterrent ?

there has been mention of Islam because the Austrian authorities have reported that the perpetrators have given an allegiance to Isis. They're not a buddhist organisation.

MushMonster · 08/08/2024 08:24

I hope that they find any other links to the arrested individuals and put an end to it.
Then we all can carry on enjoying her converts, without constantly looking over our shoulders.

Sometimes it feels like the whole world is going to hell in a handbasket

Sad

And it's almost entirely men leading it, creating the violence, burning the world.

Links to Islamic State, ergo Islamic extremism.

Ok, my view on this is that IS just uses religion, Islam, as a tool to recruit and spread hate. They certainly do not believe in Islam or God. It clearly states in the rules You shall not kill, for starters. They do say it is in the name of God, but God commands us to live in peace.
That is what I meant.

perfectlyann · 08/08/2024 08:32

I disagree @MushMonster
This sums it up:

Radical Islam is a doctrine that includes several beliefs, including:
• Rejection of other ideologies
Radical Islam rejects ideologies other than Islam, such as capitalism, democracy, communism, and socialism, as having failed.

• Opposition to secularism
Radical Islam rejects semi-secular regimes for neglecting Islam.

• Civilian immunity
Radical Islam holds that non-believers and apostates do not have civilian immunity and can be killed as collective punishment for perceived wrongs against Muslims.

• Literal interpretation
Radical Islam believes that the primary sources of Islam, the Quran, Hadith, and Sunnah, should be interpreted literally and originally.

• Elimination of non-Islamic influences
Radical Islam believes that non-Islamic influences should be removed from all aspects of Muslim life.

• Return to Islam
Radical Islam believes that Muslim-majority countries should return to the fundamentals of Islam and become Islamic states.

• Jihad
Radical Islam defines jihad as a continuous struggle to achieve "God's just order in the world". This conception of jihad doesn't distinguish between offensive and defensive jihad

No.

Fuck sake!! This isn't really a thread about Taylor Swift. It's about a major concert (the artist isn't particularly relevant) having to cancel 3 sell out shows due to a terror threat.

Give your head a wobble!

Personally, I was amazed the MSM admitted it was an Islamist attack being planned.

Me too. But the Austrian police released a statement so the msm had to report it as it unfolded.
