This where I think the power of the small claims court should step in.

It’s a bit like the IRA, I could never understand why people didn’t sue them for losses. I am sure there are bank accounts and investments in this country that could be traced back to Isis leaders. We know Those known sympathisers should be the ones to foot the bill.

Money I lost because of f**king IRA bomb threats ultimately ran into hundreds and subsequently thousands,

Someone needs to pay

its not as though we don’t know who these people are or where these people are. Maybe think twice if they know there won’t be any money for bombs if they have had to spend it compensating those who have been affected by there action

I wonder if the Man in Southport was radicalised as well..Maybe police found stuff on his computer/phone..?

Agreed, and given the riots/protests they may well not publicly announce this information for fear of giving more fuel to the unrest.

I do not condone the actions of the rioters but I do think this could also be true.

We were at Edinburgh for her show and I have to say the level of bag checking was abysmal, not sure if it was just our venue. You could have smuggled god only knows what in!

Edited

Similar at Liverpool, they only gave it a very Quick Look.

TravellingSpoon · 08/08/2024 06:22

We went to see her in Sweden and they had a strict no bag policy.

behindthemall · 08/08/2024 06:25

SilverliningHunter · 07/08/2024 22:08

@behindthemall I’m so sorry. Are you still going to visit Vienna or will you try to claim on insurance?

Well still go - it’ll still be a nice city break!

Drogdab · 08/08/2024 06:30

How do we know it wasn't terror related? Maybe the perpetrator in Southport hasbeen radicalised online?

I thought the police had said it wasn’t and I thought the riots had started because of misinformation that an immigrant had done it motivated by ISiS or whatever.

It's so sad, but these threats are something we're going to have to start living with and adapt to. The world's gone mad. Thankfully the plot has been foiled before anyone got hurt.

Austria like some other Euro countries are at risk of terror attacks. The threat is similar - it’s likely. Obviously day to day we forget unless there’s an attack or news of a foiled plot.

Latest Home Office statistics reveal 7 late-stage plots foiled since March 2020

Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) and the UK Intelligence Services have stopped seven late-stage terror attacks since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.

We planned ur summer hols around this show. Vienna is lovely, I feel that we’ve had a great holiday, even if the end of it is a bit devastating .
Hoping against hope she offers us codes for another date. No idea how I’d find the money but we would come back for it out of principle.

tootyfruitypickle · 08/08/2024 06:37

I heard from friends that Wembley also didn’t check throughly at all. I’m sure they will now…

AdviceNeeded2024 · 08/08/2024 06:46

Alex Drake · 08/08/2024 00:56

Sorry, quoting myself here to clarify my own ramblings. Is IS using what has happened in the UK attack last week and now with he Taylor Swift concerts being postponed to further their own gain. To keep rioting in the UK as their benefit?

I very much doubt it. This will of taken months of careful planning, they’ve been found with chemicals so the intention as it always is by these radical fanatics is to kill and maim as mainly westerners as possible. I’m sure these ones in particular don’t give a shiny shit about riots over here.

Drogdab · 08/08/2024 06:49

Remember the MEN bomber was only in the foyer but there was an enquiry about a number of security failings so I’m sure Wembley and the like are switched onto the threat.

MushMonster · 08/08/2024 06:49

Drogdab · 07/08/2024 21:58

Why are TS's fans being targeted in particular?

Young girls enjoying life, it’s fucking depressing.

I think it is also because Taylor Swift stood up for herself, walked away from her music firm and started all over. She even had to record her own music again. Yet, she made it. She is still big, top of the charts and successfull.
She is an example of strong independant female to all those young girls. This does not sit well with some people. I recently came across an article talking about beauticians in Afghanistan. Such a simple, harmless thing. A bit of grooming, hair styling, make up. No harm and it can boost confidence and make you feel great. Well.... it is illegal! They risk to be arrested. Can you possibly believe that?

tootyfruitypickle · 08/08/2024 06:57

Having been caught up in this I’d still go to Wembley. I’m hoping she add some dates to the Wembley run for the Vienna swifties. Vienna has no tube barriers and they were going to allow people outside the stadium so much harder to make secure. I’m going to have a look when I get back and see if I can find tickets eg the ones they release just before the show - massively unlikely but worth a shot!

Fluffycloudsfloatinginthesky · 08/08/2024 06:58

My daughter is at Wembley so I have just ordered a clear bag for her on eBay in case rules change.

Fluffycloudsfloatinginthesky · 08/08/2024 06:59

@tootyfruitypickle

I think they may have come out yesterday. I look occasionally for resales and there was a queue to get on site and message about being invite only sale.

tootyfruitypickle · 08/08/2024 06:59

@Fluffycloudsfloatinginthesky I read Sweden had a no bag policy .

Let's not forget the Southport attacks were on a 'Taylor Swift' themed dance workshop. I wonder if there's any connection. I hope the police are looking into it.

I think this is unlikely.

Police have said that the Southport murders were not terrorism related (and I remember news reports that anti-terrorism police had been involved in the investigation)

Austrian authorities have said that one of those arrested there had pledged loyalty to IS ie terrorism

Microwaveexpert · 08/08/2024 07:03

God some of these comments, honestly!
Of course people are 'ecstatic they're being kept safe' but how devastating for these kids (and adults) to have this taken away from them like this.
Fuck these terrorists

It wasn’t quite as straightforward as that. It was a warped idea of revenge for deaths of Muslim children in the US led actions in Syria. So I think being American performer was a key characteristic, as was likelihood of a young audience.

We’ll have to await further announcements from the Austrian authorities about motivation for this attack. IS reaching the stage of imminent attack on large audience of globally famous superstar, and doing so from online radicalisation, is awful. And we know from their history that they don’t limit their targets by sex or to concerts - in Europe they have form for attacks on police/military personnel, Jewish people and synagogues, churches, Shia mosques, museums, tourist resorts, US companies in third countries, metro stations, football supporters, a German music festival, a Christmas market, Westminster Bridge and Parliament, London Bridge shopping areas (Stockholm), railway station (Brussels), random street attacks (France, UK (Streatham))

The inquiry found misogyny likely to be a driver.

Manchester Arena bomb inquiry: Attacker Salman Abedi was misogynist who had 'very bad' and 'disrespectful' attitude towards women

The inquiry into the May 2017 suicide attack has heard Salman Abedi beat up a female student at Manchester College, after he apparently confronted her about why she was wearing a short skirt.

Oh fgs have you never heard of Shamima Begum? And there were many others of all nationalities who went to fight for the Caliphate.

Unfortunately there is nothing weird about it.

I do also find it impossible to comprehend. I know it has happened before, but my brain cells cannot process it. A life full of adventures and great opportunities ahead. They choose to kill innocents, just like that. How!? Why!? How can anyone convice any other of doing anything like this?

Fluffycloudsfloatinginthesky · 08/08/2024 07:10

tootyfruitypickle · 08/08/2024 06:59

@Fluffycloudsfloatinginthesky I read Sweden had a no bag policy .

Yeah it may also go no bags. But I think US is clear bags.

All her outfit planning will go to waste if it's no bags as it will have to be cargos I think to fit stuff in pockets.

There have been Islamist terrort attacks in the UK and Europe for twenty years now. I'd say we're all well used to it, so much so that we barely talk about the cause, as can be seen on this thread.

And before that we lived with the terror threats related to Ireland. This isn't new.

Greigeisthelatestbeige · 07/08/2024 21:47

This is awful.

Why are TS's fans being targeted in particular?

Mainly just very young girls who like dancing and singing and dressing up. Why them and not grown adults who are voting for various Governments (not that we should be targeted either obviously).

It’s because they are young women and girls singing and dancing. This fills certain men with murderous rage. See also- Iran

Thats the bit I don’t get. I understand anger, sadness, depression but how does watching a load of shit on the internet make you think yep killing children is the best option. Is it the whole going to paradise thing?
