Alison Hammond weight loss isn’t just cutting out sugar

Hello! I think Alison Hammond is fab and she looks amazing having lost I believe close to 8 stone!

However she said she has cut out sugar and that’s how she has done it. She also has a PT I follow her on Instagram and she posts a lot, I’ve seen one PT session.

I wish celebrities would be honest about their weight loss and how they did it, I think she’s probably used a weight loss drug, I would love to be able to afford a weight loss drug but I can’t.

OP posts:

She isn't under any obligation to disclose her private health matters.

She can't win can she? If she was on weight loss injections and advertised the fact, she'd be hammered for promoting drugs or taking "the easy" way out (which it absolutely isn't btw)

Or she says she has just cut out sugar as she doesn't want to be hammered for promoting weight loss drugs, and she's slagged off for being disingenuous.

As somebody who is on mounjaro I can say with absolute certainty that if she is, she will have definitely massively cut down her sugar intake.

You don't take these drugs and carry on eating a truck load of sugar and carbs. It doesn't happen.

She looks fabulous and I'm happy for her however she has done it.

Don't be jealous OP it's not a good look. Mounjaro can be perscribed on the NHS if there is a clinical need. It's rare but does happen.

I fund privately but there are a couple of ladies on the MJ threads who've had it perscribed through the NHS and I've seen atleast one poster on this thread mention their DH has been given it too.

You’re being so unreasonable. Just because she’s in the public eye doesn’t give us the right to all her private information. Even on weight loss drugs/ surgery, she’d still have cut her sugar intake anyway. It’s not a lie. It’s simply the version of her truth she feels comfortable in sharing.

No one gets to 49 and the perimenopausal years after being overweight for all of their adult life, and suddenly loses many stones by “just” cutting out sugar.

I cut out sugar a few years ago and lost 6 stone (I regained most of it after 3/4 years though)

Waffle78 · 31/07/2024 20:05

A lot of low fat food has sugar and other ingredients added to make up for the lack of fat. But fat fills you up and is easier to burn off. You are better off eating full fat butter cheese and natural Greek yoghurt. I follow Team RH on Facebook. He is a bit brutal but explains it really well. He says you could eat a McDonald's every and still lose weight. As long as you stay within your calorie limit.

If you look at the calories some slimming world and weight watchers meals and snacks can have more calories. Sugar and the other crap that's added to low fat foods doesn't. That's why a lot who do slimming world often get migraines. A friend of mine had to have her gallbladder out after years of yo-yo dieting on slimming world.

DF lost about 4 stones cutting out sugar totally along with other healthy eating- it really does work!

AmelysTree · 31/07/2024 20:15

She had a lot to lose to be fair. I did a diet programme earlier this year (intermittent fasting, calorie restriction, no fruit, no dairy, no sugar, 4 litres of water a day) and I look incredibly different in a short space of time. 4 stone gone in 5 months (size 16 to size 10) and I’ve maintained it for 3 months so far and don’t intend to fall back.

So I wouldn’t assume it’s fat jabs. I’m pissed off so many people (colleagues and MIL 😂) think I’ve used ozempic. Nope, just sheer will and determination!!

It does matter because she’s widely known and respected and she’s saying falsely how she did it.

Alison isn’t private she posts everything on her insta from her new house to her new fella.

You can't be sure she is saying falsely. Maybe she had a sweet tooth and ate a lot of sugar and went cold turkey. Why would she lie? If she did, the only reason I can imagine is the shame people have to carry for losing weight with medical help because they are made to feel less for doing so.

Yes I have a teacher friend who gained weight after starting a new school and she said the only thing that had changed was biscuits in the staff room! 😂

Its so easily done, especially with 'just' a biscuit. Or things like a bread roll that are rudely high in calories for what they are.
This thread is inspiring me to channel my inner Alison! Less sugar, more walking, slow and steady results.

FairyLightBan · 31/07/2024 20:25

Love Alison, maybe her GP put her on it? Maybe she has diabetes? Maybe she's in love?

There is no ‘just’ about cutting our sugar, have you ever tried it? It’s actually a fairly big lifestyle change for most.

HotCrossBunplease · 31/07/2024 20:28

Presumably she’s filming Bake Off right now?

She’d be an absolute superhuman to be able to stay off sugar without Ozempic in that environment!

Peaceandquietandacuppa · 31/07/2024 20:29

If she truly cut out all sugar and exercised daily with a PT she would easily lose 8 stone. She was a size 28 and the weight drops off quicker at a bigger size. You can have your suspicions all you like but celebs get access to these amazing PTs and have time/money to work out… that’s what I’m jealous of! Not saying there aren’t lots of celebs buying the easy option with mountjaro etc. But I don’t agree that Allison has…

I did

Mrsjayy · 31/07/2024 20:34

Fern Brittan said the same years ago said she did it with cutting out sugar and cycling in reality she had a gastric band the press was going to out her so she confessed on TV, I don't think it's anybodies business how the live their private life AH isn't endorsing a diet she isnt a medical professional if she says she cuts out sugar then that's what she does, If she wanted to say she was using injections then she would.

She isn't actually lying is she just putting across what's she wants people to see on social media.

Edited

Noel Feilding used to say he didn't like cake and never ate bake off food. I've not watched since Sandi left so I don't know if he still says that.

SunQueen24 · 31/07/2024 20:36

Agree OP. I believe the same is true of Adele. I think they should be upfront so people who look up to and admire them can atleast know that it’s no slight on them that they can’t achieve the same by their “simple methods” it feels almost deceitful.

Yes but we know Alison likes sugar!

Yeah, see I’m in the camp of let singers be singers and don’t expect them to be lifestyle icons as well.

openforall · 31/07/2024 20:42

If any celeb has sudden and impressive weight loss, i cannot help but think it's Ozempic

It's just got to be

TheFormidableMrsC · 31/07/2024 20:43

It's absolutely none of your business but well done to her. Jealousy is just an awful trait.

openforall · 31/07/2024 20:44

What does cutting out sugar mean?

No fruit? No pasta?

No... wine?

Not sustainable

Absolutely. If I cut it out, my diet would be extremely healthy. There would also be less joy in my life though… 😁

CraftyNavySeal · 31/07/2024 16:12

It’s her private medical business you’re not entitled to know anything about it.

Why does she talk about it then? It'd be fine to not comment or not discuss it, but by saying something that's evidently combined with something else is misleading.

Hmm. Perhaps because it is literally impossible to hide significant weight loss, every interviewer will ask about it, and she has a personal brand as a chatty open person who doesn’t refuse to answer questions, and whose job is to get other people to open up so she can’t risk being branded a hypocrite.
