Alison Hammond weight loss isn’t just cutting out sugar

Hello! I think Alison Hammond is fab and she looks amazing having lost I believe close to 8 stone!

However she said she has cut out sugar and that’s how she has done it. She also has a PT I follow her on Instagram and she posts a lot, I’ve seen one PT session.

I wish celebrities would be honest about their weight loss and how they did it, I think she’s probably used a weight loss drug, I would love to be able to afford a weight loss drug but I can’t.

OP posts:
leeverarch · 31/07/2024 16:25

She's probably talking about carbohydrates as well, which break down into sugars in the body, and things like milk which contains lactose, another form of sugar.

OurDoorz · 31/07/2024 16:26

I completely agree with ypu. DH has been given Mounjaro on the NHS because he needs it, and it's worked miracles for him. I think it's highly unlikely Allison Hammond has just coincidentally managed to lose this weight by cutting out sugar around the same time weight loss jabs became popular. If she's lying she creates false expectations of other people who will end up feeling bad they can't do the same.

InsolentNoise · 31/07/2024 16:26

I lost over 8st over 2 years or so.
I was barely eating anything, tbh.
No alcohol.

I lost 6 stone just but cutting down carbs and cutting out sweets, crisps and fizzy drinks.

I lost more by doing more, but the first 6 that's all it took as I had a lot to lose.

It's not impossible when you've a lot to lose

Newposter180 · 31/07/2024 16:31

GreenAir80 · 31/07/2024 16:13

Yes I admit I am jealous but I’m telling you now no one loses 8 stone on just cutting out sugar

You actually don’t know this at all. With all respect to Alison, she had a lot of weight to lose; if she started to eat healthily and work out then of course she would lose a lot of weight.

Newposter180 · 31/07/2024 16:33

GreenAir80 · 31/07/2024 16:14

It does matter because she’s widely known and respected and she’s saying falsely how she did it.

Alison isn’t private she posts everything on her insta from her new house to her new fella.

You’ve stated categorically that she is “saying falsely how she did it”. Do you have any proof of this whatsoever?

BobVanceVanceRefridgeration · 31/07/2024 16:35

I think this is a pretty nasty thread to be honest OP

I follow Alison on insta and I can't remember seeing a single post about her weight loss and her talking a lot about it? It's mostly posts from The Morning. She's not flaunting it or lying.

I actually don't think she's really spoken about it at all, other than in 2020 when she said she got a health warning of some sort and started making some changes. So that means it's been 4 years where she's lot 8 stone.

My friend was a size 26 and the weight only really started to show a lot when she had already lost 5 stone-then every 7 pounds looked like a massive transformation.

Speculating widely and accusing her of lying just sounds bitter. Good on her I say.

RogueFemale · 31/07/2024 16:37

Well, if you weighed 20 stone to begin with, and you used to eat a lot of sugary UPFs and stopped, then it's perfectly possible to lose 8 stone just by doing this. It'd probably take a year or two.

meisafairy · 31/07/2024 16:37

I lost and have kept off 2.5 stone by eating between 1pm and 7pm, making sure it’s healthy options only. Light lunch as in tuna or salad and a regular dinner which is homemade with a light afters, no more than 4 items in a day. Started last October.
Suprisingly easy to do.

SilenceInside · 31/07/2024 16:38

Everyone is entitled to a private life, even celebrities who are very frequently in the public eye. A lot of people don't seem to understand that and think they are entitled to access to all aspects of an individual's life rather than what they choose to present publicly. More fool you if you think that presenters and other similar types of celebs aren't presenting a curated persona.

If she chooses to say it's diet and not diet with the support of weight loss injections then that's her choice. Goodness knows she would be pilloried whatever she said!

KreedKafer · 31/07/2024 16:39

Cutting out sugar, completely, along with exercising hard with a PT, could absolutely result in substantial weight loss, especially if she was eating a lot of sugar beforehand. I'm also guessing that 'sugar' also means, in this case, sugars from starchy carbs. Not that any of this is your business.

Why on earth do you think the number of training sessions she put on Instagram has anything to do with the number of training sessions she actually does?!

I lost five stone. I went from a size 20 to a size 8-10. Lots of people asked me how I did it - which was by counting my calories most days and doing a lot of intense exercise sessions. I know that a couple of people didn't believe me, either.

I think some people just don't want to believe it's possible to lose weight that way. But it is. It's just fucking hard work, is all.

GoldenPombear · 31/07/2024 16:39

Depends which sugars. All sugar including carbs, could easily lose the weight.

carpetpuller · 31/07/2024 16:40

I went to school with Alison. She was always drinking fizzy pop and spending all her paper pound money on chocolate. I think she's probably always had a high sugar intake and cutting it out has had a massive effect on her weight. I'm delighted for her

LemonTT · 31/07/2024 16:41

GreenAir80 · 31/07/2024 16:15

It’s not steady, it’s quite sudden to this level over the last year.

I have been seeing reports of her weight loss for a long time now. It doesn’t look like 8stone. Maybe half of that.

A weight loss medication would only enable her to cut out sugar and extra calories. Which is the same thing as she is claiming.

TeenLifeMum · 31/07/2024 16:43

I lost 1st in 3.5 weeks by cutting sugar and carbs.

ItsAlrightDarling · 31/07/2024 16:43

Have you tried cutting out sugar OP? It can have a huge effect on your weight.

FrenchandSaunders · 31/07/2024 16:43

She could well have done this by cutting out sugar and working out OP.

When you say 'cutting out sugar', have a think about what that means? If I cut out sugar I don't think I'd lose that much (despite needing to!), as I don't have a sweet tooth, I'm more into the savoury stuff.

But if a large part of my daily diet was made up of sugary creamy coffees/hot chocs, doughnuts, biscuits, cakes, chocs etc then cutting those out would make a huge difference. Add in the carbs like others have said, the bread, pasta, potatoes, booze. Makes a huge difference.

A friend of mine lost over 10 stone doing this, and has kept it off. Good luck to Alison, she's looking fabulous.

LightFull · 31/07/2024 16:44

Who cares how she lost it it's her business

Fern Britton got loads of flack for lying about how she lost her weight

Who cares

If she wants to keep things to herself that's her business too

Im certainly not tearing into a woman for how she decides to lose weight

And shame on everyone who picks at celebrities for every silly little thing

Point is Alison needs to lose weight for health reasons so it's up to her how she does

And up to her what she divulges about it

summerdazey · 31/07/2024 16:44

GreenAir80 · 31/07/2024 16:13

Yes I admit I am jealous but I’m telling you now no one loses 8 stone on just cutting out sugar

Depends how much sugar she ate before and what exercise she's doing now.

Why are you so obsessed with her?

hallyy · 31/07/2024 16:45

I agree OP.
I've got a work colleague who likes to
tell people on facebook her 7 stone weight
loss is due to a gym membership
(but she's had a gastric band)

notacooldad · 31/07/2024 16:45

Yes I admit I am jealous but I’m telling you now no one loses 8 stone on just cutting out sugar
If she cut out bread, home made past sauces and the like, smoothies, flavored yogurts etc she has cut out sugar.
Sugar is near everywhere. Once you know what your looking out for the easier it is to cut it out.

HeyTalkToMeGoose · 31/07/2024 16:46

GreenAir80 · 31/07/2024 16:13

Yes I admit I am jealous but I’m telling you now no one loses 8 stone on just cutting out sugar

Yes they can

Many cut out carbs to achieve it, or go low carb. That's sugar!

You can't 'tell us now' because you are not an expert

Abitboring · 31/07/2024 16:46

Exercising does not make you loose a significant amount of weight.

Maybe she's doing intermittent fasting. It can really curb appetite and you eat so much less. As someone very big you loose weight very quickly at the start.

prh47bridge · 31/07/2024 16:48

GreenAir80 · 31/07/2024 16:13

Yes I admit I am jealous but I’m telling you now no one loses 8 stone on just cutting out sugar

Yes, they do. She isn't talking about just stopping taking sugar in tea and coffee. She is talking about cutting out sugar completely - chocolates, doughnuts, cakes, biscuits, etc. Add in an exercise regime and losing 8 stone would be no problem for someone of her size.

HeyTalkToMeGoose · 31/07/2024 16:48

FakeMiddleton · 31/07/2024 16:17

I agree, OP. It's really disingenuous and misleads people trying to lose weight.

Ozempic et al are just awful and will mess up your body. Further, look at the backlash Fern Britton got when it came out she had a gastric sleeve...

BTW, I'm not jealous. I weight 9 stone at 5'7"... I just imagine some people taking Alison's advice and cutting out sugar and getting frustrated it doesn't work so well for them.

How does 'ozempic et al' mess up your body?
