Alison Hammond weight loss isn’t just cutting out sugar

Hello! I think Alison Hammond is fab and she looks amazing having lost I believe close to 8 stone!

However she said she has cut out sugar and that’s how she has done it. She also has a PT I follow her on Instagram and she posts a lot, I’ve seen one PT session.

I wish celebrities would be honest about their weight loss and how they did it, I think she’s probably used a weight loss drug, I would love to be able to afford a weight loss drug but I can’t.

I was just saying the other day she’s looking really fabulous lately. She was wearing jeans one day which I can imagine she hasn’t been able to do for decades.

I don’t see why it can’t be from cutting out sugar. I know someone that has lost 3 stone by doing just that.

Anyway, what ever she’s done, it’s working and is transforming her. Vanessa Feltz is also looking so much better these days. I know she’s had a gastric band, but I think that was years ago so maybe not responsible for her weight loss over the last year or so.

Why are you determined to pick holes in the explanation she's given?

Doodlebugbop · 31/07/2024 18:12

I lost 50lbs between November and April by using Wegovy and only one person knows.
Lots of people have asked how I did it and I say that i cut out the junk and ate smaller portions which is true but I don't tell them that Wegovy gave me the willpower.

The reason is that people are so judgemental and spout so much misinformation about it and seem to want to get into debates about it.
I can't be bothered to deal with those people so just omit that detail.

Maybe Alison is the same, celebrities seem to have a lot of negativity towards them if they use a weight loss drug so I don't blame them for keeping it private.

I lost 6 stone in 18 months by cutting out carbs and eating high good fats, high protein. I used Saxenda for 3 months of that period (which made it easier to cut those things out) but the majority of the loss was drug-free. It’s perfectly possible. Hard, but possible.

letsjustdothis · 31/07/2024 18:18

Anyone who genuinely thinks these people - who have been severely obese for years and yo yo'd a few stone off here and there over decades - have suddenly realised sugar is bad and discovered vegetables and personal trainers and lost a ton of weight and kept it all off because of that is incredibly naive.

They aren't lying, they are probably going to the gym and eating less sugar. But it's not the reason for the loss.

If you have never been morbidly obese you don't know how hard it is to lose 8 stone and keep it off. It's not as easy as just cutting out sugar because it's mentally very different.

Imperrysmum · 31/07/2024 16:18

But it’s not just cutting out sugar is it?…

By cutting out sugar you are therefore eliminating all cookies, fizzy drinks, ice-cream, donuts, chocolate, sweets, processed foods.

So yes the method is cutting out sugar, but this then makes you cut out 100s or even 1000s of calories per day.

Don’t judge someone by your standards. Just because YOU might not have the willpower for weight loss without injections, that doesn’t mean she doesn’t.

Exactly this.

Imagine how you’d feel if you made a monumental effort to cut out sugar, go to the gym and walk regularly and then everyone said “Oh, you must have take Ozempic”?

So rude.

If you’re as heavy as she was, cutting out all sugary foods and increasing your muscle mass so you burn more calories at rest will have amazing results.

StupendousConfectionary · 31/07/2024 18:20

My friend has lost around 7 stone since last year by cutting out of fizzy drinks, and training with a personal trainer. She mostly does weights, hardly any cardio.

It can 100% be done. It’s ignorant to assume Alison is lying about it.

Educate yourself on nutrition and training.

She was on Celebrity Fit Club years ago, she's lost a bit and put it back on for decades. She's not suddenly discovered walking and not eating sugar.

Not discovered it, but maybe found the willpower?

Maybe she’s reached a point in her life (49) where she’s realised the health implications of being overweight are incredibly serious?

Maybe a health scare has brought it all home?

Maybe she’s found a personal trainer she’s really clicked with?

There’s a lot of jealousy on this thread. Just because one person doesn’t have the willpower doesn’t mean another person can’t.

cerebuswannabe · 31/07/2024 18:25

I've just had a run through her social media and the weight loss has been gradual for the last couple of years! Good for her!

NewBrightonEel · 31/07/2024 18:28

A friend of mine cut out sugar, started exercising and went from a size 20 to a 10/12 in around 7 months and she's kept it off for about 11 years. It can be done. I think if Alison Hammond was lying then someone would soon grass her up.

BrendaSmall · 31/07/2024 18:30

GreenAir80 · 31/07/2024 16:13

Yes I admit I am jealous but I’m telling you now no one loses 8 stone on just cutting out sugar

Of course they can!
Shes stopped eating all the shite that contains sugar and is exercising!
it’s perfectly doable if you really want to

Superworm24 · 31/07/2024 18:32

I'm not sure why slebs don't admit to ozempic and similar. Because even if they aren't using it we all assume they are. I was overweight for years and then made drastic changes. I can't really explain why as I had tried and failed many times before. So it can be done but I think it is quite rare.

BobVanceVanceRefridgeration · 31/07/2024 18:34

For those saying this has all been so quick - it hasn't!

In 2020 she had a health scare and I believe her mum passed away - she was told she was prediabetic. This prompted her to do something about it

She has been steadily losing weight for 4 years- you can literally see it slowly coming off on her instagram. It's really apparent now as she's started to show off her figure rather than covering up.

The comments about cutting our sugar are from 2022. She hasn't commented on her weight loss for years so doesn't shove it in anyones faces

The backlash with fern is she was paid a LOT of money to be the face of (i think Ryvita?) and this was seen to be disingenuous.

Mummyofbananas · 31/07/2024 18:36

I know someone who lost ten stone in a year on slimming world and while she was big she wasn't as big to start with so it's definitely possible- especially with clean eating and working out hard. Possibly she's used ozempic of course but I suppose that's her own business and she's probably just incredibly happy she's manging to lose weight.

CarsAreExpensive · 31/07/2024 18:38

GreenAir80 · 31/07/2024 16:19

When you publicly shout from the roof tops about your weight loss and post left right and centre BSing pple that it’s cutting out sugar when it’s a lot more.

I tried ozempic for 3 months I lost a lot of weight but got poorly on it.

It's completely doable OP and plenty of research online. It's not just sugar though, you are right. It's carbs as well. Read up about keto. I have been on it for few months and lost 3stones already without PT sessions. It's a strict diet as you need to learn the carb contents in all foods. It's also a fatty diet, as you eat fat oily meats cheeses etc and thats what makes you loose weight. Not everyone that looses lots of weight is using weight loss drugs.

Waitingfordoggo · 31/07/2024 18:38

Newposter180 · 31/07/2024 16:31

You actually don’t know this at all. With all respect to Alison, she had a lot of weight to lose; if she started to eat healthily and work out then of course she would lose a lot of weight.

This is so true. When people are significantly obese to begin with, initial weight loss can be pretty fast because the chances are that the person has a lot of bad habits so changing these results in very fast loss. Having looked at a recent picture of Alison, she’s done very well and looks great but may well find that the next few stone are much slower and harder to lose because Alison has probably already made a lot of changes to her diet and activity level. There might not be much more that she can change now- just a case of sticking with it. When people only have a stone or two to lose, it’s usually a much slower process.

susiedaisy1912 · 31/07/2024 18:43

Finnulafishface · 31/07/2024 16:17

Of course she’s used weight loss drugs 😄 all these years she’s struggled with her weight and now suddenly just by ‘cutting out sugar’ she’s found the miracle to weight loss - her and many other celebs OP

This.

Any celebrity that has struggled with their weight for years they had suddenly lost cast amounts of weight in the last two years has been on a weight loss medication in my opinion. I'm on it and it does work. First time in my entire adult life I've been able to get a handle on my calorie intake without failing after a few weeks.

Redhil · 31/07/2024 18:45

But even if she used a weight loss drug you actually have to stop eating bad food all the time that's how the weight ultimately falls off. And to keep the weight off afterwards

Applesonthelawn · 31/07/2024 18:47

I agree with you. It is unlikely that after a lifetime of overeating, she suddenly discovered self discipline. There is no shame in weight loss drugs at all. She should own it. Far more help to other people that way. We are developing stigma around weight loss methods now and that's frankly ridiculous.

RedPoster · 31/07/2024 18:47

I’m so torn on this subject.

On the one hand I don’t think that anyone has to publicly announce what they’ve done or haven’t.

On the other hand I know it’s mentally damaging for others when famous people say ‘I’ve just been walking more’ or ‘it’s just lipgloss’, especially for young girls who compare themselves and can’t understand why they aren’t beautiful/thin enough, when actually it’s been done via such methods.

But again, no one owes anyone anything. I just don’t know.

(This is based on people who have had surgery/used drugs, I’m not saying Alison in particular as I’ve no idea what she has done or how)

Bloominlovely · 31/07/2024 18:49

Beaverbridge · 31/07/2024 16:14

Shes been loosing it steadily over the last few years. She's looking fabulous.

this! she has lost it too slowly for it to be a weight loss drug surely.

Christine1998 · 31/07/2024 18:51

What does it matter to you how she is losing it? She can’t win. If she is indeed doing weight loss jabs and publicised it judgemental people like yourself would slag her off for doing it, just like you are calling her a liar now. Absolutely nothing to do with anyone else. However she is doing it she will ultimately end up healthier. Good on her I say. I think she looks fab.

GreenAir80 · 31/07/2024 16:13

That's a very bold statement.

May I ask for your qualifications in regards to this subject? Are you a nutritionist? A PT? A scientist with a bias towards obesity?

Baconking · 31/07/2024 18:53

I follow Alison on Instagram and have never seen a post about diets (or her boyfriend), where are theses posts where she's claimed to give up sugar?
If she has used a weightloss drug then she should absolutely NOT be announcing it as who knows what lengths people will go to to get their hands on it if she endorses it. Far better to offer a healthier solution of giving up sugar
