Alison Hammond weight loss isn’t just cutting out sugar

Hello! I think Alison Hammond is fab and she looks amazing having lost I believe close to 8 stone!

However she said she has cut out sugar and that’s how she has done it. She also has a PT I follow her on Instagram and she posts a lot, I’ve seen one PT session.

I wish celebrities would be honest about their weight loss and how they did it, I think she’s probably used a weight loss drug, I would love to be able to afford a weight loss drug but I can’t.

OP posts:

Where did OP demand access to her medical records?!

If you’re in the public eye. the public will speculate on you, if you don’t like it, you can always leave the limelight. When you discuss your weight loss in public, you invite that speculation even more.

OP didn’t say anything nasty about her, she’s purely speculating.

She literally said it in her OP

”I wish celebrities would be honest about their weight loss and how they did it, I think she’s probably used a weight loss drug”

weight loss drugs are prescription only and are medical drugs. We aren’t entitled to know what medication the woman is taking!

If you tried cutting out sugar you will see how effective it is for losing weight.

I don’t think it’s anyone’s business. I’m happy for her

Really? Its that simple? ( genuine question)

Yes I admit I am jealous but I’m telling you now no one loses 8 stone on just cutting out sugar

It’s always sugar especially chocolate or cake that makes me fall off the wagon. During Lent, when I don’t have any typically sugary snacks such as these above and biscuits, I actually find it much easier to stick to a calorie deficit. As soon as I have one biscuit I tend to have an all or nothing attitude then binge on UPF snacks, taking me over my deficit and into a surplus.

Maybe she has had a bit of help but it’s nobody’s business imo. If she is on something and if she was open about, she would still be criticised.

Well it depends what was making her fat. If it was coke and cake, then you could.

I really hope you're not a nutritionalist.

Shes been loosing it steadily over the last few years. She's looking fabulous.

She's gorgeous and has the most amazing glowy skin

PinkArt · 31/07/2024 17:26

8 stone, or 112 pounds, over 4 years works out at 2.34 pounds lost per month. To achive that, she'd need a 8190 calorie deficit a month, or 264-292 calorie deficit a day.
That's very realistic by cutting out sugar when you're starting from a place where you can lose 8 stone. It's a doughnut. Or two and a half chocolate hobnobs.
I've started from lighter than Alison's starting point before and lost 4 stone in about a year and a half mostly by massively cutting down on sugar and walking more.
She might have used a weight loss drug but what she's done is absolutely possible without them.

MonsieurBlobby · 31/07/2024 17:27

Unless she's flogging a weight loss plan I don't think she owes the public the contents of her medical records.

Happilyobtuse · 31/07/2024 17:29

Basically I think what she means by cutting out sugar is that she is following a keto diet. I know someone who went from 265lbs to 155 lbs on keto in one year. So no carbs or very very low carb intake. Also having a personal trainer is very effective in helping you build muscle, in keeping you motivated and helping you to push yourself. So she might have done it that way, it doesn’t have to be a weightloss drug. Also when you post on social media regularly you feel like you are accountable to ppl as everyone is watching and that might help with will power.

Yes this - I think the backlash against Fern Britton was that she was advertising something like ryvita or special K as a way of losing weight when actually it was WLS.

BrokenWing · 31/07/2024 17:33

The weightloss drugs do not make you loss weight, they just help reduce your appetite, you still need to reduce/change your diet and exercise so she isn't lying.

If someone can lose 8st with the weightloss drug they can lose it without too if they can deal with their issues, have the will power and are financially able to buy the best foods, diet support and PT support. Perhaps she has had a serious health shock which has prompted her to deal with her weight.

Any medications, including appetite suppressing drugs, she might have been prescribed by a Dr are none of your business.

NotbloodyGivingupYet · 31/07/2024 17:35

How very dare she talk about her bf but not give us all her diet regime complete with spreadsheet.
Famous people get caught doing awful things but this is heinous.

This thread has been a real morale booster.

I started a diet for the first time in my life three days ago, after being told I was prediabetic. I’ve cut out sugar and am going low carb. Also trying to avoid processed food and go for everything made from scratch.

I’m 48 and have comfortably 10 stone left to lose. I’ve been terrified that I’ve left it too late because I heard it’s really hard to shift the weight when you’re peri menopausal.

But so many personal experiences on here of women shedding lots of weight doing exactly the same as I’m planning - it’s so inspirational. Thank you to those who have shared success stories - just what I needed to hear today 💐

(NB/I won’t use weight loss jabs as some of the side effects sound horrific - plus it’s been linked to increased cancer risk. I might change my mind if I can’t lose any weight though 😂)

GoTigers · 31/07/2024 17:37

TorroFerney · 31/07/2024 17:22

Well perhaps another better way to put it may be to wish celebs/ models etc didn't say they lost weight through just no sugar, have clear skin through drinking water and just have now wrinkles by some quirk of genetics - ie not lie.

But it’s not necessarily a lie.

I lost 3.5 stone by cutting out sugar (carbs) and exercising. I have clear skin because of genetics and drinking 3 litres of water a day (plus sunscreen and serum for 20 odd years but no fillers, Botox etc).

Actually, they can - Kevin Smith did years ago, before ozempic even existed for weight loss. He said it was like coming off crack. Google his before and after.

Jimmyneutronsforehead · 31/07/2024 17:47

FakeMiddleton · 31/07/2024 16:17

I agree, OP. It's really disingenuous and misleads people trying to lose weight.

Ozempic et al are just awful and will mess up your body. Further, look at the backlash Fern Britton got when it came out she had a gastric sleeve...

BTW, I'm not jealous. I weight 9 stone at 5'7"... I just imagine some people taking Alison's advice and cutting out sugar and getting frustrated it doesn't work so well for them.

Can you please provide proof to back up your ridiculous notion that ozempic will mess the body up further.

Also no one should take Allison's advice on account of the fact every one is different and should do what is best for them.

IrisPallida · 31/07/2024 17:48

I wish celebrities would be honest about their weight loss and how they did it, I think she’s probably used a weight loss drug, I would love to be able to afford a weight loss drug but I can’t.

So you will just be vile instead...

GreenAir80 · 31/07/2024 16:19

When you publicly shout from the roof tops about your weight loss and post left right and centre BSing pple that it’s cutting out sugar when it’s a lot more.

I tried ozempic for 3 months I lost a lot of weight but got poorly on it.

Same as Oprah, I don't give a fiddlers fuck how people lose weight, however they do it good for them but don't bullshit everyone

I think Fern Brittan got the backlash because she denied it for so long, again her business but don't go on about your "amazing transformation" & omit to disclose how, it's disingenuous

Jimmyneutronsforehead · 31/07/2024 17:51

eggplant16 · 31/07/2024 17:23

Really? Its that simple? ( genuine question)

Some people find a keto diet really successful if they're insulin resistant as its low carb/sugar. You can get some good results from it but it's not the right diet for everyone.

It can be good for those who are insulin resistant like PCOS and diabetes as well as those with high cholesterol as long as there's fibre intake too.

Many will claim it can destroy your liver but do you know what also destroys your liver? Fat.

Every one should do what's best for them after making an informed choice.

They've been linked to a decreased cancer risk.

They're also linked to decrease in fatty liver too.

Thatsnotmynose · 31/07/2024 16:22

Depends what she means my 'sugar' I went on a low carb diet cutting out even things like milk because it had too many sugars. I lost a stone in about 3 weeks and if I'd not caved and fallen off the wagon and combined it with exercise I suspect it would have been pretty easy to lose 8 stone (I was only 12 stone at the time though so this would have left me with only a foot and an arm)

But as you experienced it isn't easy at all to lose 8 stone this way because most people (like you) find it completely unsustainable over the medium term.

Flibflobflibflob · 31/07/2024 17:53

I lost 3 stone in 4 months going very low carb, I even measured out milk. So it is doable. I was bloody knackered though.

PearlsAndPlants · 31/07/2024 17:53

It seems very possible to me, I’ve lost 3 and a half stone in the last 4 months.I’ve eaten a lot more veg, massively reduced my processed food consumption. Limited carbs and cut sugar, stopped snacking.

I’ve been overweight for the last decade and made many attempts at weight loss and gained and lost the same stone and half something seems to have clicked this time and I’ve found the right diet for my body and it’s dropped off. I don’t think it’s fair to assume Alison is being dishonest.

I lost a lot of weight (relative to what I needed to lose) quickly by cutting out sugar. And lost it all within a year.

Idontjetwashthefucker · 31/07/2024 17:59

Weight loss injections don't mean you lose weight by eating as you were and just having a weekly jab, you have to eat healthily otherwise they won't work. They don't melt the fat away, they suppress the appetite, so even if she was having the jabs, she'd still have to work hard
